Looking good Bob!  The Vampire is done.  Pics will have to wait until I get to the library to upload them.  It will be the last model I finish in 2015.  To those with unfinished builds, get them done and post some pics, that was the objective of this build.  Happy New Years y'all!

Nice work on the Emil so far... Especially on the sponge applied camo blotches. I did the same thing on a WWI bipe I am working on currently. It gives a very convincing effect.

Still plugging along on the 109....memo to self-never attempt a multi color camo scheme for a weekend build....

Here are some pics of before and after camo.  Based on the decal instructions, this plane had a 'heavily stippled' camo scheme.  I remember seeing that Helmet Wick's 109 had the same scheme and was painted with a sea sponge....so I pulled out the sea sponge from an old Battle of Britian GB (Wick's plane) and went at it.  Not sure if I like it or not but it is what it is....

Hope to get this one wrapped up by the end of the weekend.

Thank you Mopar. The photos I found of captured ones should them mostly to be sun bleached with some storage in the field type staining/wear. Noting major, but not pristine.

Nicely done!  The weathering is subtle and effective.  I like it.

So here was have the finaly completed photos of my Ohka...

So the other nite before starting the holiday activities, I was able to get a few minutes free to add the pilot's ring sight in place and get some photos taken...

then this afternoon I finally applied the flat topcoat- a mixture of Future with Tamiya Flat Base at a 7 to 3 ratio. Which ended up giving a nice weather beaten apperance that gave a look like several Ohkas the were captured on Okinawa had...

then I gave to topcoat plenty of time to dry before removing the masks... pictures to come in a few...

She's looking good!

Here's where I'm at (still ).  The international orange is less tacky than yesterday, but still sticky.  Without further ado, here we go.  The pit.

For those planning to build this in the future, watch this area, it doesn't fit very well when you attach the wing.  Here's where she was when time ran out.

Keep at it Stik!  I've started to update the What the heck it's done wall, so keep those cards and letters coming.  I managed to complete my Israeli P-51, pics to follow.  I really hate the bottle of international orange I've got. I sprayed it almost 72 hours ago and it's still a little tacky.  Might be time to chuck it into the microwave.  I've got a pretty little silver and orange Vampire right now, just can't do anything until the dadgum paint dries.  If any of you have this kit in the stash, watch yourself when you're building it.  There are some serious fit issues with the underside wingroots.  Also, you can't put the main landing gear on after you install the tail booms, fortunately, they are pretty sturdy.  Keep at it friends, let's get these projects finished and start the new year with a clean table.

MM, very nice work on your Komet  I have never seen the two seater before. That is pretty sharp 

Caveman, your F-16 is coming along nicely. I bet you'll make the deadline. 

As for me, work and family events have been piling up one after another here, and since I am well past my 48 hrs, I am nickle and diming the final touches when I get a half hour or so here and there to do things...

so here are my updates on the Ohka

crosshairs made from stretched sprue and added to pilots ring sight, then painted

Promodeller wash added (with and without warhead aerodynamic cowling)

wash removed...

pitot tip drilled out and steel wire end piece added

warhead tip drilled out and steel wire fuse plunger added

rocket motor nozzles needed a bit of super gluing for proper placement

and how it looks overall now ready for final flat coat

hopefully in the next few days I will have free time and non rainy weather to airbrush on the flat coat, add the ring sight, and take off the canopy masking...

Sorry guys.  Work got me again.  Was sooo close this time too.  Great builds this year and quite an array of subjects.   Congrats to all that finished.

Front page updated.  Unfortunately, time will run out on my Vampire. I'm on call for work, and have been kept busy because of it. Will keep working on it though.  How's it going out there Caveman?  To all those that participated, thank you from the bottom of my heart.  These builds would be nothing without you.  To those that succeeded, congratulations.  To those that tried and failed, keep at it. We'd like to see those builds finished.

I like the little Komet too, I think I'll have to build one of those. I think I saw something about a two seater in captured Russian markings too.

Nice work on the Sniper too. I found that to be an ambitious build in a weekend, so very well done.

I didn't participate this weekend, I just knew I'd have no time to get a full build done. I did have a few goes at it on earlier weekends though :)

MM that has come out really well - never seen the humpback comet before. The trailer is a neat extra too.

CM there I was about to say that cockpit looks good. Like you say, hopefully the decals behave on the exterior. Looking forward to it.

I used the new formula Vallejo Model Air Luftwaffe color set.  I am extremely pleased with these new colors.  The kit was a joy to build.  Highly recommended.  Looking forward to seeing everyone's final products!

Looking good Caveman!  Keep it up.  Mopar, good to see you're back. Looking forward to seeing your build come together.  Keep at it GM!  I started my build at 11:00pm.  A change in kits.  I'm building Airfix's new Vampire T.11.

Half way there.  Some progress pics.  I will be in paint in a few hours.  The kit supplied decals for the cockpit and I am far from impressed but, that's what they gave me.  The decals don't seem to react to any solvents that I have which is something new to me.  I hope I have better luck with the airframe decals or I forsee some serious silvering in the near future!
