Wow a lot of starts already, and how about that interior by GM....

Anyway I'm just getting started on a German WWII Panzertriebwagen in 1/35 by Trumpeter. There were only a few built and used in the later years of the war mostly moving large rail guns and other important assignments.

And heres a hoto of a real Panzertriebwagen.

That flying tank is on the back of the book and there is a good section on it. Pretty good read if you want some WW2 oddities, I got it years ago as birthday gift.

Lol. I was thinking more along the lines of a Luft '46 build. Who knows though? I may build that. Only problem for me is that there doesn't seem to be a lot of weathering possibilities.

 

 

Quite a few Luft 46 options out there. Thoug most of them are resin, Revell have a nice little selection.

BTW, are there really any kits out there of the Antonov A-40 glider?

I have a few resin aircraft kits in the stash, but have yet to build one. But i did build a couple of otehr esin kits last year. The aircrfat kits seem to mainly be the more britle yellowish resin rather than the stuff a loit of AM sets have been made with the last few years.

No idea about the AN-40. I can't say i have ever seen one and i can't imagine its one any of the main stream companies would do.

This looks like a model AN-40:

Moff: When I did the web search for the photo I came up with a 1/72nd kit from Anigrand. I think it's the only thing out there and probably a bear (pun not intended) to build. 

Seems the thing did fly in the test run but I figure a dio with the tank resting in a giant self made crater would probably fit better...

The A-40 might be a cool kit to scratch build. There looks to be a few T-60 tanks in different scales, just need to build the glider.

It may be a difficult build, but I don't know if I'm ready for that much scratchbuilding just yet.

Nice find. I figured if it did exist it would be a resin kit. But ye, that would not be an easy build.

Well, not a lot of updates here, I've been looking for a box I have of interior stuff like seats etc I wanted to use for a quick, simple, and dirty interior but can't seem to find it. 

I did get the road wheels cleaned up and ready for paint, I only have three return rollers now left to do. 

Finished up the tracks for one side and started on the other. I was a little duboius about these at first but love them now. I wish every kit could do the tracks this way. Each link is two parts, once sandwiched together they capture the pins of another link. So if you're careful and keep cement off the pins you're rewarded with workable, flexible tracks! 

Not sure if you can tell from the photo, but the piece to the left is cemented to the lower part already in place.

I am still awaiting my decals from Mike Grant, but i had a reply to an e-mail saying they were posted last week, so hopefully should be here son. But i still have some progress to post up this weekend. Will post that on Sunday.

While waiting for those decals, i have still been able to get some done. The undercarrage was put together and the brake lines put into place. I still need to give the straps for the lines a coat of RLM 02.

I also replaced the gun barrels with some brass tube.

And i used some PE belts from the spares bopx for the seats. This is the gunners seat fitted in its ground position.

The Mike Grant dcals arrived yesterday and they were worth waiting for. A very nice selection of dials and info panels. Al the decals share one carrier film and i cut them out as close as i could. But some of the excess does show up on the camera but is not as bad to the naked eye. The instructions recomend a punch and die set and i think its time i got one of those.

With that done i could fit the cockpit. I added the steering column and bomb site and some wire to the back of the IP.

Then it was time to get teh top on. This was a bit tricky, so i started at the back and then worked round doing one edge at a time easing it into place. In the end the fit was rather nice with just a bit of sanding along the leading edge.

The kit includes 2 fixed forward firing weapons, MK 103's i believe, one eitehr side of the cockpit. everal build reviews i have seen question the logic of these on a medium/hig level bomber. I can't imagine these aircrfat doing a low level strafing run. So like those other builds, i decided to not fit those weapons and had already filled in the spent case shute. One build i saw aded blisters over the holes for those guns for some advanced radar or guidance system. I rather liked this and found a couple of parts in the spares box that i liked the look of.

I just have a bit more rubbing down to do, then i can add the vertical tails and canopy befire i go to the paint shop.

That is some outstanding detailing you have done Bish. It looks excellent. Now, bring on the paint job.
