Some loevly work there, i was going to ask if all that pit was part of the kit until i read it was mostly scratch. Thats great work there.

Matt: Beeeeautiful detail on that 335 man. I've got one of the Tamiya 335's in the stash. Looks like I'd better get busy building aircraft subjects again. I've gotten behind in the last couple of years.

Lostagain: I'm liking the details on that pit you're building as well. I always love building pits and then hate covering them up when the fuselage halves go together.

Ed: I'm definitely in on that 229 build!! I've got a 32nd scale ZM 229 kit that I'd gladly trade straight up for a 48th scale ZM 229 if anybody's got an unbuilt one out there. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do with this one.

68GT: Nice subject! 

I spent the best part of the weekend painting so thought i would share the results. I have goned for  green base that the Germans were useing as the war came to an end. And i don't know about you, but i reckon if Marvel had ever come up with a Hulk Mobile, this would be it.

And then the otehr colour colours were added. I rather like the German schemes where the DY is bordered by thin red brown, so i went with that idea but with a differance. I did have to do some tidying up afterwards but did leave some areas of overspray.

And then the barrel, which was painted off the vehicle, was added and the markings applied. For them i wanted low viz markings. I decided not to go with the coloured numbers the Germans actually used. I did wnat black outline numbers, but the only ones i could find were from Archer. despite being bigger than i wnated, i got a set, but i just couldn't apply them. I lost about half dozen numbers before i gave up and went with some 72nd German black numbers form my Luftwaffe decal stash, as are the black crosses. On reflection i should have gone with these from the start. The whole thing then got some light oil dry brushing.

This would normally be followed by a coat of future before weathering. But i have decided to give Alclad Aqua gloss a try. That should be here in a day or so, but as i am in no rush, i wil leave this to dry for the week. In the mean time i can get some work done on the figures and get the tools and exhausts painted up.

Looking good with that camo

There really is some great stuff going on in here. That Jagdpanther camo looks really interesting Bish. The 335 looks amazing. The MB5 reminded me of the vacform that I nearly completed way back in their hey day. I guess I never will build one now.

Here is the latest on my Spitfire. Sprayed with Tamiya acrylics. I've been working on spraying camo freehand in 1/72, so have continued that journey with this one.

The office is looking great! If I recall correctly, this MB5 is a vacuum form kit? Is the cockpit pieces vacuum formed as well?

The seatbelts look fantastic! Are they AM fabric? And the cockpit is a work of art! Yeah, it may be a slow build, but your progress pictures are worth the wait!

Thanks Bruce. It is rather menacing isn't it. I think once its on a base with a building and some figures, its size will really come acoss.#

And look forwrad to seeing more of that Type 4. Looks like we will have a flurry of completed builds in the run up to the end of the year.

I'm rather surprised, there are not a lot of completed build so far. I agree, there will be a mad dash to the end of the year!

The MB5 is vacform, but the cockpit is scratch built apart from the seat and a couple of other little bits.

I am finding it very slow going, but there is satisfaction in overcoming obstacles as they crop up. Should be done by Christmas, not sure which year though.

Partly it's the heat and I don't want to do anything, and partly I've been scattered around on a bunch of other stuff. Still I have to kick myself that I can't get a couple small blocks of wood painted.....

And I'd thought about entering a second project here, maybe I'll be getting to the Soviet TD or Italian fighter sometime but I think I'll just mark them off as part of this GB.

I resemble that too. My issue is I really don't do much in the summer. Am outside all the time. Just now starting to get the itch in my airbrush trigger finger. Am hoping to have the P-82 done by end of September.

I apologize, my remark was not intended as such. I simply looked at the first page and somehow thought I would see more builds completed. It was just an observation. I too need to get in gear and get my Type 4 finished. Once again, I apologize for how the post sounded. 

Oh gosh Bruce, same here as with TJ. I'm not in the least sore, just a little embaressed. I think I said on the forum before I'm in a 90/10 modeling mode. It takes me 10% of the time on a build to do 90% of the work and then 90% of the time to finish the remaining 10%.

I ditched my PM kit on e-bay when i got the TRevell one, glad i did. But you seem to be getting to grips with it.

Moff, no worries. It's not a problem if its not done by the end of the GB, and your more than welcome to keep posting.

Just a short update this weekend. I have hardly touched the vehcile, only painting the exhausts. This was done with oil paints and Tamiya weatehring powders. I also dry brushed some green around the top. This has been drying since wed and i got my Alclad Aqua gloss a few days ago. So now its all dry, i can get to weathering.

My main focus has been the figures. I have worked on SS camo over the past couple of years, but this is the first time i have tried German army camo. I checked a number of sites for colour suggestions useing vallejo paints. But i am still building up my colection of that brand as i switch from tamiya for figure painting. But, as this is a what if and clothing colour can vary, i was not woried about being to precises, so i used what i had.

I was reasonably pleased with the results until i looked at the photo, here they look bloody awful. Ashide from them looking like they have been painted by a 2 year old, i have not left enough of the lighter base colour showing and the rain streaks are way to large. I used a 10/0 brush and dark green paint. I saw one build on Armorama and he did a great job with a 000 brush. I have also seen people use pens, but they seem to be a bit thick.

So while the figures are not to bad to the naked eye, i am now having thoguhts about going over the camo again. Here is two of the figures. I decided to try and oil wash which i like the look of. Both have had the trouser washed, the one of the left raw Umber and the one on the right Raw Umber/Yellow Orche mix.

I have also been doing the base. Useing some scrap wood i raised the ares where the path and house will be.

And found something handy to weigh it down with.

And the building was then added.

And some chipboard was added inside to bring up the floor level and add some support to the walls.

So i can now start painting the house, it will be 2 weeks before i can get the rest of the cobbles and path.

Thats all for now. All comments and suggestions welcome, especially on those figures.

Hi Bish, everything is looking great thus far.  Colours for the camou look good, it actually did appear to me as being the Wehrmacht style even before reading.  For the rain streak lines, maybe use a knife and gently score the surface?

Thanks jack. Now the edge of a blade, i had not thoguht of that. I have just been re working the camo by paintng larger areas of the lighter base colour and steaking that, its looking much better.

I had neard of that late war anti IR uniform, but not seen an image. That will be easy to replicate by painting black areas over the existing camo. I am thi king tamiya NATO black would work, what do you think.

And that book looks like it will be handy as well.

Should work, the overprinted dark pattern is described as a carbon black.

Oh yea, for the thin stripes you could also try a very sharp pencil crayon, but this method you would have to be very gentle not to ruin the paint surface.
