Its been an exceptionally cold winter here so far and my new builds are on hold until I can get my torpedo heater from Amazon and warm my garage above the mid 30's. Since all my ABing is done out there I cant really start anything. So, Ill watch you guys build for a bit.

Cracked the celophane on my gift this morning.  Very nice molding, very little flash, virtually none.  As can be expected in this scale, not much in the way of office detail, floor and a couple of seats, but not much can be seen through the small canopy windows anyway.

Cut loose the fuselage and smoothed up the sprue stubs on the edges, nice tight fit with virtually no gaps.

Landing gear is basic as well.  I'm planning on doing her as a ceiling hanger with gear and flaps up, and though the "H's" never painted as such, in SEA camo.

Pics as it progresses. Painting the cockpit area today.

Well I've made some progress with my Fw190.  I have yet to try this Eduard offering so I've been reading up on some reviews one have been getting tips to avoid the issues.  Apparently this kit will fall together with Tamiya-level efficiency or punish you like a Lindberg cheapo kit.  The trick seems to be to ignore the instructions and dry fit, dry fit and dry fit some more.  I think I've done enough to ensure a good fit.  So I'm about ready to start painting.  Fingers crossed.

Boy you waisted no time getting into the kit!  Good for you!  Start 2017 off with a bang!  Be sure to post some pics of the 190.

Santa was thinking water skiing when he dropped mine off. Bet it's tough behind that air boat! This kit looks really nice in the box. Ive not built a modern warship yet so I am really excited about this.

In the pattern: Scale Shipyard's 1/48 Balao Class Sub! leaning out the list...NOT! Ha, added to it again - Viper MkVii, 1/32 THUD & F-15J plus a weekend madness build!

Looks like the jolly red fellow dug deep in the bag, all real nice kits it looks like.  Nice assortment of Minicraft, Academy, Trumpter.  I get the first and second off so I can get a good start.

We know that there is at least one kit still in transit. No worries, it'll show.

In the meantime, Santa came through with a kit I was wanting to build, SO winning !!

Thank you Santa!  Must've been better than I thought.

Looks like some serious masking is in order, but I've got an idea for that. This should be fun.

Got up at 5am, as usual, and opened the fancy cardboard shipping box.......Found that Santa had dropped off what is below.  Have spent the last 4 hours thinking of how to build.  Have come to the conclusion that I'll do it in a SEA camo scheme since that was my era.

Thank you Santa !!

Mike, I had the same problem. I logged out, removed the cookies and logged back in. That took care of it, but you will need to do it on all the devices you're having problems with.

I had to do it several times on my phone.

Give that a  try.

I can't get rid of the huge white drop-down window at the top of the screen.  It's been going on for a few weeks now -- even on my phone. It covers up also up most of the first post in each thread. But it covers up my "messages" menues and such. I tried contacting FSM, but I have not got a response yet.

The PE set I was waiting for arrived last night. It was packaged in a box about the size my secret Santa gift may come in. Since I have no idea whether it will come straight from an online HS or not I had my wife open it to check.

The PE set came in 3 days later than the tracking said it should, so for sure things are running behind.

The problem was the brown truck people gave the package to the white truck people to deliver and well......

lewbud

As a former employee of shipping company that shall remain nameless, but uses big brown trucks, I have a plea for those who have yet to ship their packages.  Please make sure they are properly packed. A properly boxed small package will have a greater chance of arriving undamaged than an improperly packed large box. As for packages getting lost,  it happens but with the amount of internal tracking that goes on at a UPS facility, it's very difficult.  The only reason for a package to get lost is for the shipping label to come off, or become unreadable by the scanner.  Always write the address you're sending it to and your return address, that way they will know where to send it if the tracking label is lost or damaged.  True story, UPS will open your package to see if there is any clue to the destination.  I was working at the DFW hub and a large igloo cooler came in, but the shipping label had fallen off.  They opened it up only to to find that it was packed full of pot.  DEA was called in, but no luck in finding who it belonged to.  Damage due to improper packing is far more common.

Hey Lewbud,  sure hope you didn't think I was being disrespectful to any shipper.  Like you said things just happen, no worries here.  Tis the season.  LOL!  If the truth be known, I have never had any issues with the brown truck...now the other shipper...whos initials are USPS (LOL!), those are the lost package stories I have had.  But everything works out in the end most of the time.  Just didn't want you to think I was being mean.  LOL!  Don't need to get on Santa's naughty list!  Embarrassed

No worries.  Just want to make sure the po or UPS does whawt is says it will do.  LOL!  Too many stories of lost packages.  I'm sure the holiday season and weather are really putting a kink in the system too.

Looks like the weather this year is gonna slow packages a bit. Not to worry, they'll show on time.

Steve, I had the same issue. I clicked on the FSM logo, then community, then forums, NOW drag your mouse UP and let the drop down close, then it works, or it stays down. Not sure why the change, but I liked it fine before.
