Outstanding work, pj.  Great looking diorama; it really makes a dramatic impact.  Well done!

I've updated the front page.  Thanks for being part of the GB.  It's a pleasure to see your artistry!

Thanks guys. I finally received the pe AA sights and was able to complete my entry. I added the Eduard Akagi deck and two figures from my Tamiya Zero kit.

Even though the Eduard description says it's an Akagi deck, it can be modeled as the Kaga's aft deck. Akagi had a solid white stripe running down the the center of the aft elevator, Kaga had a striped line.

Preliminary deck colors on.

Final washes and striping done. I will eventually make a wood frame for the base but that will be sometime in February.

Tamiya figures primered in black.

and more paint.

figures done.

A Kodak moment before taking off!

Completed MG.

Here's the completed Val, Kaga deck and the two lads.

The aerial wire is EZ Line with two small drops pf Aleene's for the insulators. Both goggles received a tiny drop of Clear Parts Cement for their lenses.

Again, my thanks to TJ for sending me the Kaga air group markings.Yes

Check, thanks for hosting this GB and letting me part take. Please use the 9th picture for the completed log.

Nice conversion work, Tonka.  Looking forward to some more progress pics.

Hey PJ, the first photo looks like a bad attempt at a scale machine gun.  The bottom photo looks an actual machine gun.  Fantastic job on that detail!

Dwayne or Dman or just D.  All comments are welcome on my builds.

Thanks Gents!

A short  update...........

Got the Type 92 7.7mm MG done. I used a new #11 blade to carve the forward and rear grips and trigger housing, and made a trigger from stretched sprue and a trigger guard from sheet brass. The barrel was drilled out and cut off those two telephone poles supossed to be sights and replaced them with stretched sprue. Used a small brass strip to make the drum handle and glued it with CA.

Here is the kit gun:

and after my modifications and detailing:

The rear sight uses a ring type and it so happens that I missplaced a pe one i have and can't find it Angry so Ebay is the place to look. Found a set there so hopefully it will be here soon.

Thats some lovely work on the MG PJ, would ahve thought it was a different piece.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Good job with the modification, tonka!  Looks like it's going to work out really well.  I always find it a little "exciting" to attempt things like you're doing!

Looks to be a good Wildcat kit, Tony.  I haven't built one, but the new Airfix molds are usually pretty good.  Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Nice job all!

I did some conversion works on my F2A-2 Buffalo. Looks like the A-3 only needs about 10" extension for waht can be seen. So I followed an internet article and chopped up the A-2 to make it an A-3 like VMF-221 flew.

So far it looks ok,,I'll see after some primer this week.

I picked up an Accurate Minitaures SB2U-3 in VMSB-241 markings Battle of Midway,,So im going to do both and put in diorama

PJ - Very nice work on the machine gun.

Tony - Kick that Wildcat out of the footy field!

Go Blues !

It is one of those kits that you open and can't wait to build, I haven't had one of those for a while. I'm think that F4F-4s were fairly new into service at Midway, so I'm going to give it a fairly light weathering job. I haven't decided whether to go with folded or extended wings yet.

Cheers

Tony

I'm sure you will do it justice to it whatever you do in building it. I have never built one before, I will get to it one day. I think folded wings on a carrier deck diorama would look great.

Good luck

Damian

I had some time where I didn't feel like doing anything complex, so I cracked open my Wildcat and just started to separate a few pieces from the sprue and clean them up. They give you a choice of folded or extended wings as separate pieces, which is impressive. This model is still a little down the queue, but I thought I might do some of this basic work early, as and when I feel like it.

Cheers

That is one very attractive plane.  Nice detail in the cockpit, and the nicely finessed paint and markings are extremely appealing.  Good work, pj!

Thanks guys!

A little more work on my Val which is almost done. I went thu my junk box and put together the part that goes behind the pilot's seat.

Got the bombs painted and detailed then attached them with Aleene's.

The plane was weathered with a Flory Wash to show some wear and grime and when dry, several light coats of Testors Flat lacquer were sprayed to kill the glossy Future finisn. The flaps and windscreen were attached with Aleene's. The canopies are ready to be attached tonight. I will be leaving two sections off since the machinegun will be mounted in the ready position. I have seen several period pictures that appears to show these two canopies  completely off.

The kit MG is very poorly detailed and will need lots of scratch work that will be coming up very soon.

I have an Eduard 1/48 IJN carrier deck section coming from Squadron and will add a couple of figures from my Tamiya Zero to make a small dio depicting the pilot and rear gunner/navigator about to board the Val.

They were not sisters, but were built around the same time and started out as battle cruisers and spent most of their time together.
