Great looking trio Bobby specially like the air refueling scene. Wasn't a Vulcan in one of the James Bond films from the mid 60's?
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
Bobby... I agree, Vulcan is a BEAUTIFUL aircraft, well done!
Bish, I was at the LHS for my IPMS club meeting today, and the Mgr showed me the Airfix (he said) New Tooled Vulcan. It lookes AWESOME!, 1/72nd scale and its a big kit!. Think I'll have to break down and get one soon as the funds become available.
Take care...
Doug

Looking forward to some pics when you can Scott.
Blimey Bobby, so really nice work there and great in flight shots. I like the one of the Vulcan from underneath. Been fortunate enough to see that a few times with the doors open, thats an impressive site. And the in flight re-fueling shot is excellently done buddy.
Thanks buddy, i really do hope Airfix will present us with new tooled Vulcan and Vicor tankers soon, got to get me those.
I built a lot of kits in the early 1960s and the best of them ended on the top of my room - must have been about 15 of them. (All hand painted with enamels.) It was so neat they stayed up for several years. One night I was half asleep and saw one of them flying. Hmmm. That woke me up and I found that a bat was flying in and out of formation with the airplane. There were a huge number of bats in the Midwest in my youth and they could scare the daylights out of you - especially if they might be carrying small machine guns. So I had to catch the blinking bat - a harder job than you'd imagine.
But if you want a plane modeled in flight, I think the ceiling is the best display platform. Much neater than a stand. As I recall it was a Vulcan that flew the first mission in the Falklands war. I'm sure British forces would have appeciated some Jaguars down there - but there was no place for them to land until the war ended. The good old days.

A model boat is much cheaper than a real one and won't sink with you in it.
Outstanding work, Bobby. They look great in flying mode!
Gun bays are coming along very nicely, Fred.
Bobby that is cool looking.
Fred great looking gun bays
Hi Bobby, a super great job on that trio.
I really like the animated feel of the inflight refuelling, and those guitar strings worked out perfect.
regards,
Jack
I forgot the family photo. LOL!
Here they are, all together hanging in my room. Not a realistic flight formation, but man they do look cool up there!
Bobby
Bish....what an awesome GB you are hosting! Thank you for hosting it, and for coming up with a great idea! I have enjoyed putting these kits together and they are just amazing and beautiful aircraft! I hope I have done the RAF proud! Thanks again!
P.S. now to find me a 1/72 Valiant!!
And now for the grand finale! Here are the Bucc and Victor together in flight doing what they do! I think it turned out pretty cool and my son went nuts when he walked in my room and saw it. Now he wants models hanging in his room! (the plan worked...now I have more places to hang the big builds! )
The refueling hoses are actually guitar strings! E strings to be exact. The kit hoses were WAY to short, and when I tried to stretch some sprue...it just didn't work well. So, I saw my strings laying around and the E string was the best match and after painting them. The texture of the big E string made them very realistic! So, here they are in all their Desert Storm glory! Enjoy.
Now for the Vulcan post.
This was probably the most intense paint scheme I have done to date. Due to size maybe? Not sure, but it took a lot of time to tape her up for the RAF Dark Green. And of course, the decals! I'm dubbing this year the year of terrible decals! LOL! I have had nothing but trouble with just about every kits decals this year. New, old, doesn't matter they all have had issues. Of course, with the Vulcan, it was due to the age of the kit. But we adapted and overcame (somewhat) on most of them.
The 1/72 Vulcan is just as impressive as the Victor, if not more due to the delta wing configuration. What and awesome plane in real life and in kit form. Just beautiful in form!
Her she is!
Enjoy.
Hey everyone! Wow! What spectacular builds! I'm embarrassed to even post my stuff next to the superior work being done here. An inspiration you all are!
I have to apologize again for my delays. I have been crazy busy at work. I've been going down to Key West helping out the office down there since they have no engineering techs at all right now. Kids, life...etc. But I have been doing work on my builds and I am happy to say I'm finished with the Victor and Vulcan now! It has been challenging to do all three builds for this GB, but the end results are pretty cool. The more I look at the kits hanging, the more I admire the planes themselves. They are truly beautiful aircraft! Unique in style, unique in service! I'll break up the posts since I have so many pics to put up. I've finished the Buccaneer and Bish posted its final pic, so I'll continue with the Victor.
A unique paint scheme that had me taping all night! LOL! It turned out pretty good and the final result looks nice. Enjoy.
Here's a comparison shot of the Victor and Vulcan:
And that's the Victor completed. Wait until you see the Bucc and Victor shots!
Thanks Fred, Thanks Bish... I guess Flickr just had a blip in their program. Tried again yesterday and it was back to normal...
tempestjohnnyThanks for the comments guys. I may get one more in not sure yet
Well, you know where to find us, you will be more than welcome to throw in a 3rd.
Loking good Dougs and glad to see your able to post some pics.
Thanks Damian, its getting there little by little...
Thank you too CMK. I'm checking over kit for yor Battle of Midway build...I can see some problems are going to arise... BUT, I an undetered and will begin shortly! I always try to have a plan B, and am anxious to begin! Take care!
+1 On the paint work Doug, well done.
Well-done paint work, Doug!
TJ... Like The Jaguar! Very sleek looking aircraft!
Well, I'll try to post a few more...
Got the landing gear on and the light grey on the underside.
The first coat of the medium green. This is Tamiya so not sure what RAF color it would correspond to. It will darken a bit if future steps.
Sorry, I got ahead of myself again, didn't show putty masking, but this is the Tamiya Dark earth.
And the other side, now we'll let that set for a day or so, then begin the decals... Thanks all and Take care!
TJ - Another great build for the fleet, well done.
PJ - Your pit is coming along very nicely, cant wait to see her finished.
Fred, thats looks good, nice find on the model pics. If all else fails, use somone elses model as a referance.
