Looking forward to seeing the Mirage finished.   I've been looking for a Mirage blue formula so I can do the ancient Hasegawa F.1.  If you're looking for something interesting, Syhart just came out with decals for the 100th anniversary of the Lafayette Squadron and it is a stunning aircraft.

Round two builds look great!!!!!  

Major sub assemblies done. Weight in the nose. Will glue the halves together this morning.

I bet you need that big mog o' coffee!  I like the idea of using a bolt for nose weight.  Ive neve thought of that!

It'll be done by the end of the week. I only have a few minutes here and there before work now to finish up. And I am also addressing a few fine tuning issues that I could not before due to time constraints. 

If you are referring to the Blue Gray solid upper color used on the interceptors in the late 70’s/early 80’s, I would suggest either Tamiya Medium Blue XF-18 with a little Dark Gray XF-24, or Field Blue XF-50 with a little Neutral Gray XF-53, depending upon how weathered you want the scheme to look.

A quick explanation.  My computer blew up a few days before the start of Weekend Madness, so I was unable to post any pics.  I think things are up and running for the time being.  Fingers crossed.

I did however still manage to get a two builds done over the past two weekends.  Rain nor sleet nor smoking motherboard can keep me from my bench.  So without further adieu....Round One.

Done deal with a little time to spare.  I was lucky that this kits design easily allowed it to be built as a few sub assemblies which sped up the process.

I hope this post works.  I am still trying to figure out Flickr.  If the pics. don't work, I will try again tomorrow.  If they do, I will post my second build.

Finished this morning.

This was a well fitting kit, and like Stik said, because the plastic is soft, sanding the sprue gates wasn't difficult. No putty!

I need to go for a lab test, so I'll take some better photos this afternoon.

This looks like a lot of fun! I definently want to particpate... I guess I'll have to swing by my LHS soon, and pick something out. I probably won't be able to actually DO the challenge until closer to Christmas, though.

I guess I will not be doing a round 2 this year. The University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas wants to put me on the lung transplant list as soon as I can relocate. I will be relocating to Dallas on Dec 23rd so building another kit and packing is out of the question. I need to complete the two I'm almost finished with as it is.

Hopefully I'll get to meet you at the North Central Texas chapter sometime soon.

Still playing a bit of catch up.  As promised, here is Round 2 in the form of an Academy 1/35 Hetzer.  Although the kit came with some fancy camo masks, I wanted to mimic the Hetz that I had in World of Tanks that is a rather plain grey.  I thought the tracks would be the end of me but they worked out OK.  I really could have used a bit more time to get the wheels a bit more muddy but this is what I ended up with after the 48 had elapsed.

Suspension and Hull together as fast as I could.  The rear deck is comprised of many panels that could be posed open but Academy didn't give me anything to put inside.  I'm glad that I was able to get them closed up reasonably well.

Basecoated everything in black and pre shaded with a light grey.  Tracks were painted black and then washed with some Flory washes and drybrushed with a few random colors.

Got the top coat on with the decals and added some chipping.  I put the tracks on at this point as well while I could still have easy access to them.

Got some streaking going on and fitted the fiddly little parts.  The machine gun was a pain to get together in a hurry.  Nine parts in that little gun.

Calling her done with two min. left on the clock.  Would have liked to do more but that is all Father time would allow.  Funny how pictures always show you more than you would normally see.  I hope this happens to everyone and it's just not me going insane.

Well, computer still seems to be holding on so with some luck I will join everyone this weekend for round 3.  Not sure what yet, but I think it's time for some wings.......

Round Three is now open for business. Got to finish the Hellcat first. Probably won't start until Saturday.

First off, fabulous work everyone! Supposed to have the first snow this weekend...Xmas shopping is mostly done, so this should be a perfect weekend to do this Weekend Build GB. It will be tough for me, with my ADD, procrastination tendencies, and my complete lack of skills. I bought this kit, used, off of Ebay and have already notice damage to the pushrods. Also the decals look sketchy, at best. And we are off...!!!

I look forward to seeing the final result on Sunday! 

Hey everyone!  I missed Rounds 1 & 2, but I'm ready for Round 3!  Got a late start today - after work I had to have dinner with family and friends, so I didn't start until past 8 PM here in California. 

My offering for the 2017 Weekend Madness GB is Tamiya's venerable 1/35 Ford G.P.A. Jeep.  First time building one of these, but it looks pretty simple and hopefully I can knock this one out in less than 48 hrs!

Let the madness begin!

*UPDATE* 

Its almost midnight and I've put close to 4 hrs into the build.  Most of it is complete, just need to start adding the fiddly bits. 

If all goes well it should have a coat of paint on her by late afternoon!  Time for bed!

I'm still banging away on the Hellcat.  Got all the decals on, but forgot to paint the white ring that goes around the front of the cowling. Just the prop and canopy to go.

Not sure yet what I'm doing for Round Three.

Sorry, no pictures of the "pit". Forgot to take them in the rush. I had to handbrush because some people do not like the sound of my Harbor Freight "leaky" air compressor at 11 o'clock. The fuselage fit quite well, a little tight. No putty needed. I do have to clean up a little glue...It was dark in the "Cave" and I was so tired. The pushrods got clipped...couldn't find two pieces. Still not a bad kit for being old and probably hasn't seen light in 30 years.

First minor setback. The parts I have don't match the instructions. Looks like I have to cut a piece off and drill a hole myself to fit the prop....
