Looking good LT! Keep at it.  As for next year, you could do a USMC Sherman in the PTO three color camo scheme!Big Smile

Got the masking off...

I need to do some "touch - up's " ( Especially on the right side of the Fusalage, just beneath the cockpit. ) I let the paint get a bit thick there so some sanding is required.

There's " NO WAY " I could have finished this in a weekend ! The camoflauge alone took 3 day's !

Next year, I will pick something that only need's one color......  an American Sherman maybe ???   ( No camo.... just a "LOT" of Olive Drab ... )

Ok ...

After checking, ... And Re-checking, I'm POSITIVE I have Chocholat Brown in my hand.

                                  LOL

My airbrushing is still a bit heavy handed, I find myself trying to "cover it all" in two or three  passes of the airbrush ( just like a "rattlecan... hmmmmm)

Gonna have to train myself to go slower and make "Multiple light passes" I will un-mask it in the morning and see how much damage I did to the paintjob.

You could mask the spinner and paint a black band connecting the holes where the blades were

Oh no  ! I WILL fix the prop blades "Properly" ! I have come too far with this mess and it has made me "MAD" at it !!!  I   WILL   WIN   ! ! !

Got the masking off today. I am too used to my "rattlecan's" . My airbrush Technique was a bit heavy handed, but it still came out ok.

I "really like " the way the tail turned out.

Hopefully I will have some more time on Friday , and will continue painting the camo .......     "BROWN"   this time.  L O L

Keep at it Timmy. You could mask the spinner and paint a black band connecting the holes where the blades were and say they're warming up the engine.

OK...

Finaly had some time to myself today so I prepped the Caudron for the first color of camoflague.

BROWN ! (keep reading...... this will come up again.... sorry to say...)

Here's 2 hour's and half a roll of Tamya tape I will never get back !

This will be the first time working on my new workbench, in my new shop, with my new airbrush from Harbor Freight ( there was a "bit" of a learning curve to this )

First time using Vallejo Acrylic's too.

Good old #71-137 Light Green. Wait.... GREEN ?????

I grabbed the wrong bottle ! It was "SUPPOSED"to be Chocolat Brown !

So now, instead of starting over AGAIN, I will just paint the camo reversed. BTW: When I started masking I had a 3 bladed prop..... you may have noticed NO prop blade's in any of the picture's.

I dont want to talk about it... Let us NEVER speak of this again !

Stik,

The Mirage looks great! Glad you got her finished. Take the badge, you were part of this annual madness. As soon as Fotki and my phone decide to get along, I'll post a pic to the front page. Once again, congratulations on a great build.

"BTW: What do you guy's think of my "Stripped on the Workbench " Camouflage ? Hope I can remember how I did that..... kind of a cool weathered look !"

Keep it going littletimmy, you show that Caudron who's boss!

I do like the distressed stripped finish, would be good as a rat rod!

Littletimmy,

Keep it up.  Can't wait to see her finished.Yes

Got the prop painted for Hellcat. All that's left is to mask and paint the white ring around the cowling, and to mask and paint the canopy.

Had some time today so I hit the bench and will try to save this mess.

I give you Renault Caudron take two !

After soaking in Purple stuff, the paint only half came off. So I got a bit "Agressive" and hit it with Easy Lift Off. This is where my Caudron stand's now.

Putty in the seam's.

In my first attempt at this kit I had a really bad fit of the cowl to the fusalage, I fixed that.

The wing's were fine the first time around. But upon re-assembly there were some "Issues" with the wing root's sooooo ..... more putty.

That gouge in the cowl was a molding mistake. Hopefully I can "hide / fill / sand / scream " it out.

I also managed to sand off the cooling louver's just in front of the cockpit..... dont know if I can fix that.

BTW: What do you guy's think of my "Striped on the Workbench " Camoflauge ? Hope I can remember how I did that..... kind of a cool weathered look !

Thanks again for running the GB Lewbud, I will pick up another model or two ready for next year...

Ernest,

I like your set up, I need to get a couple more lights! I have bought a 2 metre long string of LED lights and was wondering about using that to get good lighting eliminating shadows, but it would need to be a permanent set up, which means in the shed...

Do you do most of your photos on the light blue background? It doesn't show in the finished model photos.

Thanks

Piers

Bob, Tony, Bufflehead, Littletimmy,

Your final efforts look fantastic!  A great way to end this build. I'd like to thank each and every one who participated whether you built or watched this madness from the sidelines.  Without you guys this wouldn't be possible.  If you started a build but didn't finish it please finish it and post pics here so we can see it.  See y'all next year! The front page has been updated, pics posted tomorrow.

lostagain

Lewbud, the Whirlwind certainly looks mean in black!
Bob, good work getting a metallic finish done in regulation time and it looks great.
Tony, super finish on the 109, even if you were just outside the regulation time. Know what you mean about the discipline of time management to get these done – I got only five models done this year, of which one took only 48 hours, so I could learn a bit as far as streamlining my processes! And that was a year where I spent the back half of the year unemployed…
Timmy, plane and base in 48 hours? That is some achievement! The Harvard/SNJ is looking good.
Bufflehead, the Hellcat has come out looking very good, can’t comment on colours, but it looks great to me. Interesting the two photo set ups giving different results – different light sources, temperatures and/or diffusion?

lostagain - the differences in the photos are due to the different setups I used.  Here's a pic of my current setup (this photo is missing one of the overhead lamps).  All the lamps have daylight temp bulbs in the and diffusers on the reflectors.  I get clear pics and good color, but the shadows can be a bit harsh.  I have to move the lamps around quite a bit to eliminate lighting hotspots on the models.

This is the portable photo studio that my buddy gave me.  Its a huge diffuser box that takes up a bunch of room.  I couldn't get enough lighting around it to illuminate the model enough through the diffuser walls, hence the darker colors.  Not sure if I'll use it since it takes up 50% more room than my current setup and I barely have enough room as it is.  I didn't want to reassemble it for a photo so here's a stock photo from the internet:

Both the Texan and the base came out great littletimmy!  I didn't even notice the base started out life as a tool drawer!!Surprise  I had to go back a page to get a better look.  What it needs to complete it is the pilot laying in a hammock, smoking a cigar!!

taxtp
, great effort LT, that looks like a good achievement for a weekend

The real "effort" was getting the 1/2 a tree's worth of clump foliage.... to stretch to a whole tree !

( It's still kind of a skinny tree.)

Mopar Madness
A model AND a diorama?!  That might be a first for this GB.  Both are well executed and look great!

Thank's !

Back when I was "getting paid" to build stuff, I use to do a 4X8 sheet of plywood..... fully loaded with scenery.... in 8 hour's.

If you look closely, you can see that I made it out of one of my tool drawer's.

( I couldn't find a picture frame the right size just laying around.)
