Steve, I have plenty of 1/72 swastikas and balkenkreuz.  If you don’t find any back home just let me know what you need.

Evening all! Steve, I'm sorry to hgave laughed, but it reminded me of something I did a while ago... (I think I got you beat) Depending on the size of a canopy at times on the larger ones I brush the or air brush the clear on. Can you guess where Im going with this? I poured Tenex liquid glue in my air brush and let it rip! lololol... Not only did I ruin a canopy I had to completely re build the air brush. That is after I cooled down a couple days later! lolol...Almost made me swear off building. Any way, you made a good recovery and its turning out well! Silent Bob... Outstanding IP! Brandon, Andy... Yes I'm looking into some different paints too, I like to have a few oprtion. Thank you Tony and D-man! OK, a bit more from me...

I'll have to look up the picture I was using to build this one by, But this will have the staffel markings of ((I think it was ) 4Kg26 and I wont even try to pronounce the airfield in Russia where it was.

Wait a minute... The F turned into a B... Yeah... I forgot to treat the decal with the preservative and it cracked all to pieces. No biggy, just dug through stash and found something I could use for now.

And the Triangle to ID it as a fighter bomber.

OK, Nows where the mottle and splinter will begin to soften and blend a bit. During the aging and weathering I use isopropyl alcahol and such to shade and blend with. That starts tomorrow I hope! Take care all!

Glad you caught that mistake before you got too far Steve, hopefully you can find some spares.

Thanks Doug! I really like the look of your 190 and can't wait to see the weathering stage.

I've managed to get the main parts together and primed.  Hopefully I can remember to take some pictures when my phone recharges.

Steve, glad you caught the problem before it ruined the whole kit.  Looks really good, so I hope you get the decals figured out.

Doug, your 190 looks freakin fantastic.  Looking forward to the weathering.

Bob, your pit looks really good.  Looking forward to the pics.

I got no progress to report.  I did open the box, look at the directions, and cut a couple of pieces off the sprue. LOL

This past week actually has been taking advantage of decent weather to paint a set of unfinished bookshelves we bought.  9 feet wide X 6 feet tall.  Plan is to move the shelves that were in that room to the basement for display cases.  Then my finished kits can come out of the plastic bin they are in and onto actual shelves!  Woo hoo!

Dwayne or Dman or just D.  All comments are welcome on my builds.

Thanks Doug, Bob and D. I stole some balkenkreuzs from another kit for the fuse and will still look for the Gruppe marking and swastikas when I get home, but this is where I'm at for now. When I get these last few decals on I'll start some weathering.

Doug, man I can't imagine what I'd do LOL. Destroying a canopy would be a deal breaker if I couldn't find an AM one.

Man...Thank you one and all! OK, so, we're at my favorite time of the build. Tha weathering and such...

Start with a little exhaust staining...

Some light oil streaking... and what I've been trying lately is to mix up some Tamiya "Smoke" paint and going over each rivit line with the air brush, instead of panel line washing. With me, it depends on the look I want.

I'm also going (lightly) over the white on the markings to age them and tone down the white a bit.

And thats about it for now... Fiddly parts and touch up next. Back in a bit! Take care all!

Steve, I have plenty of 1/72 swastikas and balkenkreuz.  If you don’t find any back home just let me know what you need.

I took a look at my decal stash but alas not German markings Huh? I asked the three kits I had, one was a 1/48 FW 190, one was a 1/48 HS-129 and the thire was a 1/72 HE-111. The 111 volunteered.

Afternoon everyone! Got some more done on mine...

Got the canopy unmasked and cleaned up, and hung the bombs and the fuel tank.

Antenna attached, prop mounted and fiddly parts installed.

And the next ones will likely be the finished pics. I'm going to make an easy and quick little base for it to sit on and that will be about it... Thanks for looking and I'll be back in a day or so with the compleated pics! Take care all!

Thanks Bish! Thanks Andy... Very much appreciated!

OK... I think I'll call mine done. 1 Problem, I don't have any more gun barrels for the wing guns. Thought I still had a set but ...no. I've ordered a set and will install when they arrive, but until then I just have something to use as locating pins installed. So... Having that said, Heres the finished pics...

Well, thats all for now. As always, the finished pic choice is yours, and as always, thanks for a great build subject, and for running a great group build! I would love to do another, but right now , I'm studying a 1/72 Type IX U Boat and will dig in shortly. I received all the additional items I think it will need and it will likely take up most of my building time for awhile. But Thanks again Andy! If I can finish the U Boat and its dio before this build ends, maybe You'll allow me another, being my two favorite modeling subjects ! Take care all! Keep up the amazing work...

Doug that is really nice! I like how the decals blend seamlessly with the paint. That's something I struggle with sometime. That's for another great addition and you are always welcome back with another if you have time! Great build!

Doug,

that is a beautiful result there, very well done. Nice painting and weathering, been watching this develop recently.

Rooster, I would like to join this GB with a build of Tamiya's 190 D-9, with a volkswagen in there too:

Doug, your 190 looks perfect. Really good job on that one.

LA, I've just had a recurrence of my 'Volkswagen at war' obsession, after a respite of about 20 years. Now you've gone and posted a photo of one, which isnt helping.

Cheers

Tony
