Not sure on the Panther.  Werent they primarily designed for ground attack?  I know there were some air combat wins but I think they would only accept air to ground rockets and bombs.

If someone can come up with something on the Panther as an interceptor let me know.

68,

I was looking for the F-5 in the stash, which I found, but also ran across a WW1 Spad. Whould that qualify?

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Boy, you guys are really makeing it hard for me.

I guess you could say a Spad could have been an early interceptor.

This is from Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interceptor_aircraft

interceptor, is a type of fighter aircraft designed specifically to attack enemy aircraft,

So an interceptor would not be loaded with bombs for a ground attack.  It doesn't mean it couldnt bomb something though if it was loaded.

About a week ago the US Navy scrambled some Hornets after some Tupolev 95s heading in the direction of the USS Ronald Reagan.  Japan also scambled F-2A, F-4 and F-15 aircraft.Wink

Nice work on the panel RIK. That's gotta be a tough build. I built a lot of Frog kits as a kid, and then a couple in the last five years or so. They seem very basic and poor fitting now. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

Cheers

Looking good Retired.

Spads were bombers...pilot dropped the little ones via mark 1 eyeball, when they weren't avoiding FokkersWink

Though that was more reserved for the early WSO in the back seat of any of the 2 seaters.

I hope you didn't take my comment the wrong way, Spads were fighters, but could be occasionaly used for other purposes when no air-to-air was forthcoming.  That comment was more tounge in cheek than anything else.

I apologize if I was misunderstood.  My sense of humor can be a little off the wall at times.

Okay, then I guess the Spad is back in then.

I'm buy no means an expert on WWI stuff and figured it looked like a fighter but what do I know.

The Panther I spent some time looking but only the US and Argentine Navys used them.  Plus it was relativly slow.

I'm right there with you. I get into trouble here ALL the time!

BTW..... as long as were in the same boat.... could you plug that hole on the starboard side ?    We might stay afloat long enough to finish this group build.

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"

Found out that was the only other country to fly them and their Navy actually bombed their own Army with them.

LOL, too busy trying to plug the 3 - 18" holes over on the port side.  Been sinking for years.Bang Head

Will get pit washed with brown detailer today and assembled.  New ground with washes for me.  Pics when assembled.  The rest shold go together faster then.

Going to be airborn, so no gear to fool with.  Suspending on clear acrylic rod if plans work.

Ohhhh I am liking the work going on here!! Learning some stuff too, as to aircraft that were used as interceptors.

Well I broke sprue the other night and got the bang seat glued up. I must say that it is pretty detailed for a kit seat!! Should shine up like a new penny when painted.

Sim - I agree, that’s an incredibly detailed seat for a stock kit part!

I finally had some time to myself today so I managed to get a bit done on the P-61.

                                        THE MESS SO FAR.........

I got some more paint on the interior and a few interior decals in place.

I got a few touch up's to do...... alway's with the touch-up's

Got the wheel's assembled and "Rough" sanded.

Oh yeah...... had some help for a "Tense" few minute's.

I have a question for you guy's.....

Since this is a Plane that a lot of people are going to see here, I need some help. In the past when building this plane I painted the cockpit panel Zink Chromate and the gauge's Black.

HOWEVER: I have seen a picture ( Black & White ) where the pannel and the gauges are Black. Is this correct?

Also have a "Gripe" about the way this kit was molded.

Who in their right mind put's a sprue gate right on a mesh vent??????

I know it's not a very good picture, but I'm going to HAVE to cut that out and add my own mesh....... On ALL 4 VENT"S!!!!!     AAAARRRRRGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"

OH.... I almost forgot.

A short time after the cat incident I misplaced the cockpit gauge's...... I looked here.....I looked there...  I chased after the cat thinking she had them..... couldn't find them ANYWHERE!!!!

About 20 minute's later I felt somthing on my elbow...... YEP ! You guessed it !
