Dwayne nice tracks, that's a very metal looking rubber.

I made little progress on the T-34, JUST hull and turret assembly completed and sanded. A nice little after market gun barrel from RB models was used.

That's nice Dwayne. I'm going to have to do that too soon, so I'm watching with interest.

BTW guys, I am still in this, just gotten bogged down with a bunch of other stuff. 

So I have had some time off from work, with the plan to get some serious bench time.  Yeah, not so much.  Between getting up later, leisurely breakfast, honeydo list, and day trips (staycation), I have done very little modeling. 

I did, however, start the weathering with some pigment:

And did some work on the tracks.  Primed with Stynylrez, then dark iron, then used Mission Models rust for a light rust coat.  You can see the rust effect on the left track.  Trying to make rubber bands look at least a little like the real thing.

I like the rust look, so will try to go light on the pigment on the tracks.

D.: indeed these are L&L tracks and they will be a challenge (for me).

Kien:  this IS-2 is truly amazing. I am impressed by the realism of the various stowage stuff.

Zvezda: Looks cool! I built a few of Tamiya's 1/48th kits and they were nice. Good detail and they went together like a silk glove.

Kien: Super job there!!! The weathering looks good and I love the storage.

Kien, I think the weathering on your tank looks good.  I agree that it is easy to overdo.  The stowage stands out for me.  Really well done.  Front page updated, and thanks for being part of the GB!

I've just bought a Tamiya 1/35 SU-85. I'm thinking seriously of making the leap from 1/48 to 1/35 armor. I'll let you know if I decide to change my entry for this GB.

Kien, that looks real good! I’m sure that Tamiya kit builds up a lot more easily than the Dragon or Zvedzda IS-2 kits. It sure is one imposing looking beast once built, no matter who makes the kit.

Well, I have just finished the Tamiya IS2 in 1:35 scale. This was a good build though I feel Tamiya kits can lack detail especially for the price. This was probably the price of a regular Takom kit, but has half the detail. The kit was mostly stock, with the addition of Eureka tow cables, value gear stowage, and some beaded thread I used for rope. Model was painted in Tamiya acrylics, weathered with some oils, and added some pigments. I am trying to get a better hang of weathering, I feel it's hard to get that realistic look and easy to over-weather. 

I have some more Russian armor, if I get to building them I'll definitely come back to put them on this GB.

That box art makes me want to run out and buy one of those 1/48 T34. Tamiya is smart!

Not sure what it says.  It was the decal included with the kit.  The instructions with the kit were in russian so no help there either. 

I looked it up (google tr.)  and the slogan is 'Dmitry Donskoy', name of a medieval prince of Moscow who beat the Mongol Horde [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dmitry_Donskoy].

LA, I built that Su-76 a couple years ago. Make sure that you thin down the road wheels so that they fit between the track guide teeth. I did not know that until I was about to install the tracks... I had to thin the inner surfaces after the weeks were glued in place. Much easier to do beforehand... have fun!

Route62: I like what you did with the T34. It turned out quite nice.
