Hi guy's I havent built a tank since 1977 it was a motorized tamiya walker bulldog . I think to start 2018 I'm throwing in a T-62 tamiya in 1/35th. I bought this kit in 1992 after watching the movie the beast and I'll give it a go.

Very cool. Look forward to seeing it. I forgot about that movie "The Beast" I'm going to have to figure out how to see that again. Isn't the guy that played the bartender in The deer hunter in it?

Hey Nick looks cool!

And should go together without much muss & fuss being Tamiya. I am still working on the interior here. Slow going since it's a boatload of tiny parts and I have to assemble a few and then take off the Optivisor and rest my eyes a little before getting back to it.

I did get the wheels cleaned up, sprayed with engine grey, and the hubs attached to about half of them:

And finally finished cleaned up all the ammo and they're ready to be air-brushed brass and the details hand-painted in. I may leave a few out for gaps in the racks and a more in-action look.

Hey Nick, roster updated.  I remember that movie.  It was pretty good.  Wecome to the GB, and welcome to the dark side (bwah hah hah).  Armor is addictive.  Looking forward to the build.

Hey Gamera, looks like you are making progress.  It also looks like a MiniArt kit is not for the faint of heart.  Big Smile

Thanks, slow but sure. MiniArt makes the same kit without the interior which would be way less work. But that one wasn't on sale and anyhow I'm enjoying seeing what went inside a Soviet tank of that vintage.

Awesome movie The Beast, i want it on DVD but appearently ain't looking hard enough.

Excited to see your tank come together Gamara, slow and steady does win the race. Less chance of gluing your fongers together too LOL.

I found a couple copies of it in the clearance bin at Walmart about 10 years ago.

Great to see your progress Gamera. Your kit has ammo too? My kit ain't got no ammo Tongue Tied

Thanks guys!

Most of the interior is detailed so you have to have something for the ammo racks. I've replaced these before with much better looking turned brass shells but I don't think these will show enough to justify the expense.

I made some auxiliary fuel lines and added some detail to the hatches. Also added bolt heads to the fuel tank anchor points Meng .8 mm. They are plastic and work great. Fuel lines looks meh close up but are ok. Now I will start on the crew. Got to make these guys look Ethiopian. Wish me luck.

Nice detail work, Griffin.    I think the fuel lines look very convincing.  I have to admit that is a detail I most likely would not have thought of.  Your kit looks great.  Looking forward to seeing what you do with the figures.

Griffin: Looks great! I never think to add stuff like this unless it's already in the kit.

And good luck with the figures. There are a few African tank crew figures but you do already have those so it's faster just to convert them.

Thanks guys. Gamera I really like that second set in the link. I think its out of production. I'm sure if I tried hard enough I could find a set. Warriors had so many ecclectic figure sets. Too bad they pulled the plug.

This is where we are at the last few hours of 2017 :-), The top is not glued on and will remain unglued so that the interior could be shown....I don't know to whom except to me :-)

CN: Looks good! And the detail is there in case any judge wants to stick his penlight down in there! (I always wonder, what do you do for a living sticking a light down in dark places like that mister judge? A protologist?) Indifferent

Griffin: Whoops, didn't notice they were OOP. I knew I'd seen a set around somewhere and just grabbed those sites. Hopefully someone will pick up the Warriors line, I too really liked their stuff.

Castel that BTR is looking very nice. What a neat kit. Great job. Keep it up bud. Went to Vancouver and V Island last year for the first time. I loved it. What's the gardens on V Island called? That was the highlight of the trip.

Hi,

I have the MENG Terminator in unstarted condition. Unfortunately not the latest version but still interesting.

Or the Trumpeter BTR 80A.

Right now I am having problems with my fotki account so no pictures until tomorrow.

OK if I join the GB with one or both?

Zack

Happy Modeling! Cool

Absolutely.  Just let me know which one you want to start first, and I will add you to the GB list.  I am guessing they are both 1/35 scale?

Het all, I haven' abandoned the build, in fact just the opposite, I have most of the turret complete and an ready to lay down my first coat of paint. Yes pictures are required and will come. I'm looking forward to showing it off, both un painted and during the camo aplication. Just want to make sure I won't get dropped for "lack of participation". Doesn't help that I have a nasty cold. So Sackgasse, what camo pattern are you going to employ? Very excited to see and hear your take on this kit. I hope you won't be dissapointed, I'm certainly not.

Glad to hear you want to take part, I am sure you will be welcome. I'm not the moderator on this group build, that would be ManCityFan, sounds like he's waiting on your entry so I'll pit in a good word for ya comrade.

Thanks for the welcome ManCityFan and armornut!. Sorry I got confused on the moderator!

I'll take a look at the stash when I get home and decide which kit to enter.

OK, this is my official entry for the GB:

1/35 Tamiya JS-3

Digging around in the stash I found some Model Kasten workable tracks that might fit, even though it says JS-2

And I have this for some reason.  Not sure if it will fit though.

I'll start working on it as soon as the Tamiya T-62 on my bench is farther along.
