that Italian job looks great RiK! Amazing work!

Mortal as I am,I know that I am born for a day. But when I follow at my pleasure the serried multitude of the stars in their circular course, my feet no longer touch the Earth...
ok, so I am gonna be a pain in the heiney a bit here, and add a third bomber bird to my list...the 1/144 scale B2 stealth bomber from Revell.
I forgot I had it in the stash, and knew it was a quick build, and that was something I needed today! And boy was it a quick build! I built it to be a ceiling hangar in my son's bedroom, so I didn't have to fiddle with any landing gear, although I would argue that closing Bay doors is pretty difficult when that's not what it was originally designed For!

Now that is a very good looking Fiat you built there RiK, well done! I must compliment you on your AB skills :-)
I will add the B-2 to the list, I must say that is rather nice and now I need to go look for one for myself LOL
My JU-88 is basically assembled ,airframe wize and one of the wingroots assembled, the other still needs sanding but work is getting in the way :-(
Theuns
Bish The fixed forward firing guns didn't make much sense to me for a bomber. I covered them up with small blisters i took from the spares box, maybe some sort of new radar.

If I had to guess, the German's would have thought that the American's would attack THEIR high-speed, high altitude bomber in the same way that the Luftwaffe did- head on, high speed attacks. Kind of like that B-17 crew that installed a fixed .50 for the pilot to control, to give them an extra edge against Zero's going head-on.

Got some more work done on the Arado. Primed with Tamiya primer, sanded down with some fairly fine sandpaper to remove a ton of debris that somehow weaseled its into the primer coat. I then preshaded the panel lines with a dark tamiya color that I mixed out of several nearly empty bottles of various gray's and black's. I've got a couple small pieces left to prep, and then it's on to painting... now to decide... desert, eastern, or european/north american scheme?
Nice work on the pre-shading :-)
I just have not toutched my JU 88 in a few weeks :-(
I was supose to re-cover the elevators on a C-47 for a client but that has not been put on hold for a month, since I am a one man buseness it really put a spanner in my works!
In the meantime I am re-building RC models for clients to keep the pot cooking and this takes up all my modling "moe joe".
Hopefully I can start it in a few wees time :-)
Justin, great work on the B-2, you did a good job on thosewing joins.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Waggish, 555 has come on really well, looking forward to seeing the colour go on which ever scheme you choose.
I like that B2 but cant find one locally, I hope my local HS get one in soon :-)
Some backfire photo updates.
re-scribed a whole bunch of lines on this thing.
tiny pitot tubes and there are other small antenna futher back.
Next fun job is to thin out the wing fences, if they were scale they'd be about a foot thick I think.

Hello everyone, I have kicked in with this great GB with my Airfix Junkers JU87 in 1/72. Im sorry I didnt start earlier but one thing or another had delayed my start. I intend to portray the Stuka as the kit supplied 6/St G1 based in France 1940. Though the decals will be the Xtradecal Battle of Britain set. I dont think I have ever built a Stuka, heres a photo of the real thing and the actual Stuka ill be doing.
The kit I have is part of the dog fight double set and actually portrays a later mark, but as long as it looks like a Stuka thats the main thing yes? I have started with the usual cockpit and am well impressed with the detail Airfix provide.
Heres the office, I messed up the seat belt strap for the pilot, but will give it a bit of a tidy up later.
Tomorrow Ill put the fuselage together and add the wings and the horizontal stabilisers.
Thanks for letting me share.
Best Regards
Mark

Nice start Mark. Does that kit come with the siren mounts fited.
I am not really liking this build sofar, sanding is one of my most hated jobs!
Maybe when it comes to painting I will like it again LOL

I still cant figure out what the 2 small holes in the RH top if the rear fuse is, the plans are vague here.
John, nice job on the scribng, thats looking nice.
Bish Nice start Mark. Does that kit come with the siren mounts fited.
Hi Bish, thanks mate, yes it does it comes with two types, and I have gone for the early type with the small props to power the siren, there is also the faired over type. Interestingly, the instructions dont show the fitting and provide a second set of undercarriage legs without fitment, that might be as this dog fight kit was for a R-2 Type Stuka.
Overall today, I have assembeled the fuselage, sprayed primer on the hanging bits like rear machine gun, wheels, propeller et al. Fueslage needed a little bit of filler as did the wing root, but nothing special. Overall the fit is excellent, and Im really enjoying it.
Engine cowling is next on the list.

Hi Theuns, the only thing I can think of is formation lights, Ive looked at period photos and other kits and thats what they seem to be. Hope this helps, but your JU88 is looking great mate.
That good to know they have not included the sirens for the R-2. They are not actually 2 types of syren. The faired over ones is how they were delivered from the factory, and a lot of pilts left them that way. It was up to the ground crew to remove the fairing andthe syrene and prop.
Thats coming together nicely, glad to here about the fit. I've got the B-1 and B-2 kits in the stash so good to get a heads up, i have not done an Airfix Stuka yet.
Theuns, despite your problems, that coming along nicely. Those holes have me stumped, never seen that before. I was thinking maybe for a brace for a Mistel version, but not sure why there would be 2.
OK friends, there are some nice bombers on the assembly line here! Here is a quick update on the 111. All of the internal bits have been painted and weathered. Nothing special here, a lot of it will not be seen so I’m not putting a ton of effort into it. The fuselage is ready to be sealed up.

Good work all round lads.
Yup the instructions for my 88 is rather confusing, I will have to revert back to gut feel and artistic licence if needed.
In the meantime I have basically completed sanding I am nearing the primer phase, atleast I enjoy painting :-)
Looks good there Chad. Some nice detail in that kit. The rear compartment has more in it than the Hasegawa kit.
The interior looks great Chad. Nice color variation.
I will be looking forward to watching the Graf Zepplen build you have in the hole when you get around to it and if you post it.
The stuff I have in my que jump around, on and off the list.
Steve
Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Bish - I was a little surprised at all of that extra detail too! Once you put the rear bulkhead in, it’s completely out of sight.
Steve - I actually pulled out my references today to start studying the rigging on that big boat!
ok, so I got the decals applied and while I wait for the clear coats the cure so I can give the B2 Spirit stealth bomber some weathering, I decided to start work on my 1/72 Gotha G.IV bomber by Roden.
Wow...this is one headache of a Kit! I like 1/72 scale because it reduces the detail a wee bit, which decreases the build tI me, but damn! This thing is detailed like crazy! And things are Small! There is also flash on everything. But it is coming along...

Nice wood interior! It’s always disappointing when you crack open a kit and see tiny parts with flash.
I agree, nothing as frustrating as having to clean up small fiddly parts from fash :-(
However I think the detail will make up for it, are you using kit decals? I have heard from some folk thT "Rodent" decals are a PITA to put on.

I spent weeks scratchbuilding the rear compartments on both fuselage of a Hase He 111Z. Can't see a bloody thing in there. Won't be doing that again, but i don't mind adding the kit parts so at least its not totally bear. I plan on doing the Airfix 111P next year, so really looking forward to that after seeing yours.
Justin, thats going to be one impressive build. Great start on the interiour.
I did the Airfix 72nd 0/400 a few years back, my first ever bi plane. That was bad enough but not as much in the kit asyours seems to have.
nothing fancy about this minicraft B-24 my latest pic.
Nick.
I HATE masking canopies :-(
