what I do for NMF is to sand, then prime with fine primer and sand with MM 3000

Then I spray on a few light coats of gloss black enamel tamiya. What I do is to spray a coat of almost neat miniral turpentime over the enamel before it cures, althogh risky it gives a very smooth high gloss for alclad paints.

Just a very short update, got all the major pieces glued together,  no the engines and fuel tanks are only stuck on for the picture, they will be painted later I think.   got it primed so I can see the seems I need to work on for the NMF to look the best.

I don't know much about WW1 aircraft, the only 2 bombers i can recall, other than the Zeppelins, are the British 0/400 and German Gotha.

Well, consider my Gotha G. IV from Roden, in 1/72 scale the first "Great War" offering to this group build!  I've been eyeing the kit up on amazon, and when I saw this group build, I pulled the trigger!

So I if i could would like to add a third bomber to my list.   I really only started it the beginning of january and hadn't gotten any of it glued together until mid january.  It's a Minicraft 1/144 Tu-22 backfire.

Got at least one picture so far, pre-painting the canopy to show the Russian green on the interior window frames.

I had done a little bit of work on the cockpit of the Ar 555(e) before the groupbuild began- however, with these pictures, you guy's are all up to date. I've basically finished painting and mostly finished assemblying the cockpit. It's a pretty standard paint job of Tamiya German Grey, that I then gave a Tamiya black wash. To make the leather seats even more interesting, I lightened up my base color and added highlights to the upper parts of the cushions. I also glued 16 pennies into the 'fuselage' (8 on each side) as far forward as I could. So yeah- that's where I'm at now. I've got to travel up north for work tonight and tomorrow, but I've got all day free on Sunday so I'm hoping I'll be able to get her into primer by the end of the day, and maybe get started on the Il-28.

Finally, does anyone have a good recommendation for a mixing ratio for Tamiya acrylics that will make the Russian peacock green?

Waggish, nice work on the 555. Are you fitting the fixed forward guns or blanking those off.

I haven't decided yet. Once I select a scheme, I'll decide what to do about the cannons. If I pick a European or North American Front scheme, I'll probably block them off. I figure that with the high altitudes, high speeds, and effieicncy, they would block them for atlantic flights. However, if I settle on a fictional Middle-East/Central African/Eastern Front scheme, I'll install the guns- lower weather, lower altitude, and bad weather would keep fighters grounded more often, requiring the bombers to defend themselves more often. Additionally, the extra drag and extra fuel burnt would not be as big of a problem on shorter flights.

The fixed forward firing guns didn't make much sense to me for a bomber. I covered them up with small blisters i took from the spares box, maybe some sort of new radar.

a short note , we're back into winterr (weather) It was warming up. I guerss thats spring for you.  It makes me hurt all over. I haven't touched the LCM 3 for days now. I was hoping it would be finished by now. It's that close to being done. So hopefully late next week, if not before, it will be, and I'll get Jack Northrop's flying wing going.

Question. Does anyone else think it's mighty suspicous that they forced Jack Northrop to destroy all of his Flying Wings?

I hope to get one of my offerings started this weekend, maybe laterror today (Saturday) but most likely Sunday.  We just had a Noreaster blast the area yesterday...we didn't lose power, but all around us did.  It took me over three hours to get home from work yesterday when it usually takes less than an hour!

This afternoon we have a full schedule,  with my son's basketball team's first playoff game, a family birthday party and then our cub scout pack's 'blue/gold dinner' (birthday for scouting, and where our oldest cub scouts leave our pack and move up to boyscouts..

I'm chomping at the bit to get started on that Gotha, though!

I agree 100  % with Bish Rik. How on eath did you paint that mottled cammo? err Did you paint it? Any how, If you set it out side in the right place and photographed it, people would swear it was the real deal.
