Hey Griffin,

The lines turn out wonderful. I can't imagine trying to mask off those small of lines.

And I have to say, these British aircraft carriers are very interesting. Reminds me more of an American assault ship Like the Tarawa class or Wasp class. Do they carry amphibious landing craft too?

Looks good Griffin. Yeah, after you put some items on the lines you won't be able to tell. I can't see anything askew now.

I got the lines done. A few are a bit wonky and the yellow around the elevators isn't great but after I weather it later and its covered with Helicopters and Harriers I think it'll be ok.

I have the hull painted and am trying my best at getting the lines right. I make a few going one way then seal it and mask the other way. Then back again. It's a bit tedious and it's the only logical way I can think of. I'm sealing it to prevent the paint pulling up. Learned the hard way.

If the American GB gets here, I can do Endeavor and recreate the 1934 America's Cup.

Yep, It'll be next year.

It may be a while for me because I got to save up my allowance to buy Shamrock V. If the American GB gets here, I can do Endeavor and recreate the 1934 America's Cup. Now if only I could find some 1/80 figures....

Griffin, don't fret mate, many of us are lagging in hoisting our anchors.  I myself still need to finish my build for the 1941 GB and haven't opened the box other than to play with the hull of my build for this one.  I have been too busy training for my first Triathalon which is this Saturday.  So ya, been out in the warm weather a bit.

Tony, I'm with you, I have 2 builds I need to move off the bench then I'll start on  Swordfish for Bish's GB and the POW. It shouldn't be too long now.

Griffin, looking good, and no, you're not hogging the thread. The GB goes for 2 years so I suspect there well be slow times where 1 person or no one is contributing. Once I get going I'll probably just keep pumping the British navy out of the shipyard. I'm tooling so to speak Wink

Bish, I'm looking forward to your Trafalgar.

Well, the site has been a bit quiet in general Griffin, must be the warm weather. Yours is coming on nicely.

I might actually make an early start on my Trafalgar and get going this weekend.

I feel like I'm hogging this thread but I realize everyone has a lot going on. Me, this is all I got Smile Anywho I have painted the deck it's basic colors. It might not be accurate but I saw this configuration on a reference page and I liked it because it added some contrast to an otherwise dull deck.

Some nice starts here guys. I'm looking forward to this GB, but I've got 4 concurrent builds so I want to knock off one or two before I start.

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

I have the main hull and deck together, primered. It's only about 7 pieces all together. Pretty simple and no fit issues. I sanded down the raised lines on the flight deck. They were way outta scale.

Griffin,

Nice start on the Invinceable.

And last night I scored a 1/350 Trumpeter HMS Hood for a great price.

The Nimitz class carriers are a little over 1100 feet long with a beam a little over 250 feet. You could play three football games at the same time, with room for spectators! I have the 1/350 Trumpeter USS Nimitz which is 39 inches long. It’s a big ship.

That ones too rich for my blood. The 1/700 is hard to justify, especially when there are several 1/350 ships for around that price. But you never know, my wife has surprised me with stuff I thought I'd never see in my house.  Good woman, and I never say anything on the rare times that she goes out and buys something for herself. I am far more impulsive than she is

Steve. The Invincible class carriers were pretty small. About 700 feet long. The Nimitz class are quite large right? I don't have too much knowledge on ships.

I'll have to get the 1/700 Nimitz when the "Ships of the American flag" get going. At around $80 for an 480mm (18 inch) kit....that's a big boy.

GM the Trumpy Harriers are the AV-8B U.S. version I think. Different wing and canopy then the British Sea Harrier. I know this because I bought a set without doing my research.

I've got a flock of Trumpeter 1/700 Harriers. Not going to give them away, but make me an offer.

Ok I'm off and running. Spent 1.5 hrs on the Invincible last night. Yes Not too exciting yet. Lol

That's a nice size Griffin. I wonder how it stacks up against the Nimitz in size.

Should be interesting. I haven't worked on a civilian type ship since I did a Revell Titanic about 10~12 years ago!

Bish, PE that small can be a bit of a challenge.

I knew you wanted to build your Bismarck a few years from now so I will probably delay the German build till Aug 2020 and run it for 2 years. That would be after the British GB ends.

I'm leaning for a Japanese ship build starting Aug 2019 till 2021, but a Merican would work as well. I have plenty of everything. I will probably switch off between allies and axis. A Russian/Soviet ship GB would be last if there were any interest .

Nice idea haveing the GB's cross over and 2020 sounds good to me. I have a nice big fat Type VII U-Boat just screaming for attention.

Consider the flag hoisted.

Also, I'm game for a Japanese, German or Merican GB.

Yeah it sounds fun and would keep me busy as a host for a while too LOL.
