LOL, I think I need to get my DNA checked. I must have some British Isles in me.

I didn't know any did a kit of the vanguard, might have to get one of those to go with the Trafalgar. I'll be looking forward to seeing how that comes out.

Bronco Models does a 1/350 Vangaurd.

I have just SSN's in my (unbuilt) collection now and promised myself NOT to get SSBNs untill a get a few SSN's built. I guess under that rule I could get a 1/350 Airfix Trafalgar, though...

Well if you get it, i'll be watching.

The Trafalgar doesn't seem to easy to find. I missed the one going cheap on e-bay so ordered one from Hobby Link in Japan.

Wow, Bish, that looks like a great set. I hadn't see that one.

Kearsarge, the Astute would be perfect.
Yes the long build time is for this exact reason. Marine subjects can take a while and I wanted to give everybody plenty of time to do whatever they needed or wanted to do. Depending on how it goes, it may last a little longer. Stick out tongue

Let me know if you wanted to jump in and I'll add you.

Defintely want to jump in, thanks. If I'm done earlier than planned I'll get a Vangaurd SSBN to go with the Astute.

Scott, i was curious when you said it looks like it has the English flag, so i checked out their website, they have the same set in 350 and it comes up bigger. What looks like the george Cross is in fact the Admirals flag. Underneath that is the Vice Admirals, Rear Admirals and Commodores flags.

Also curious when you said the KGV flew the Scottish flag when in Scapa Flow. Are you sure about that, i have only seen our ships fly the Union Jack.

Hmmm, a generous build time and I'm almost ('almost', mind you) ashamed to ask if I can use my Hobby Boss Astute submarine. Perhaps with the extra time I could experiment with painting the tile pattern associated with modern submarines. I've seen some nice effects people have achieved with mesh maskings.

Not sure Scott, but looking close there's also New Zealand, Canadian and Australian Jacks. But you're right, at 1/700 it would be tough to make out.

Thats kinda sad about Squadron in that I think your right, since the new owners went JIT and their website such a mouse maze to work with, and they no longer have super deals, all my business has gone to Scale Hobbiest and Hobbyinc. I just hope that make something special for the EagleQuest contestants since its their show.

That flag sheet, it looks like it includes the flag of England and the blue ensign. I wonder how hard it would be to get a Flag of Scotland since it was flown when the ship would be at Scapa Flow.  Then again, at 1/700 scale, it will be pretty mute Geeked

Steve, as Bruce mentioned above, Cybermodeler have Trumpeter releaseing an HMS Kent this year, so i am guessing thats a re-release. So if they don't have it in stock, it might be in later this year.

Scott, I forsee myself looking over empty shelves. 90% of my Squadron wishlist is out of stock, including the KGV. The POW is a 2 week special order.

Chad, I'm going to have plenty of spare 1/700 Union Jacks if you need some. I'm making an order of Hawk Graphics Jacks from AVR Model in Spain. By the time they arrive we should be well into the GB LOL

On the horizon, it’s the Kreigsmarine!  Here is my contribution.  She was captured by the allies in May of 1945 and put into British service until the beginning of 1946 when she was passed along to the French navy.

Steve,

If you go into the Squadron warehouse and we never hear from you again, we will all understand.Big Smile

When I went there during Eaglequest, it was well stocked and organized and there were people to help with your "wishlist".  What really made it fun was all the carts full of discounted stuff.  I hope that hasn't changed.

Scott, I got you down my old friend, welcome aboard

Nick, that looks great! That'll be fun.

SInce I'm starting with a 1/700 KGV, I was looking through some modern ships and the Type 23 Duke class caught my eye (handsome little devil).

Since I'm planning on going to the Squadron wharehouse next Friday I'm going to pick up the 1/350 HMS Kent, assuming it's still in stock Confused. I'll grab a 1/350 POW or KGV at some point in the future. Who knows, since this GB goes for 2 years I might still fit one in.

A little off topic, I'm also looking at picking up the 1/350 Udaloy as well Wink.

And in answer to your question, i thought they were GR.7's.

According to Cybermodelers, latest update, Trumpeter are meant to be releaseing both a Rodney and a Nelson this year in 350. They are also listed for a Scharnhorst which means i can stop trying to find a Dragon kit.

Bish,

I have seen them posted on Cybermodelers before, but, now there seem to be several more interesting additions like the HMS Kent and HMS York. Plus, not only the Schnarnhorst, but, her sister ship Gneisenau. I have to save some money!

Ye, i saw those as well. I just hope they come true, i have learnt to treat these announcments with a pinch of salt.

Hi Steve,

I cannot resist a GB for ships.  Put me on for a 1/700 HMS Warspite, probalby the 1917 kit.
