Ghost, I see you got your first post posted. Good job. I prefer to see the pic, not just the link, maybe later we can get that figured out. Looking forward to building motorcycles together.

John, I was looking forward to your Vallejo Metal colors adventure, but I sure get you re the Alclad. I've become quite a fan too, except that I'm trying to get away from oil-based stinky stuff. And thanks for the tip to try a new Tamiya bike kit. I've always had my eyes on them, and I'm a Tamiya fan like most everyone.

Mac, so off you go. And am I supposed to be worried about spokes?

Hey Bruce, thanks for the welcome!!

So I'm just getting back into these models of things that stay on the ground. Since motorcycles have lots of chrome, who strips and re-chromes and who doesn't? Am I seeing some basecoat and chrome right over the existing chrome going on? Curious minds want to know, and my kit sure has lots of chrome!

Lincoln Mint Harley

This is my entry. I have the main parts base coated but I am waiting to clear before I post pics.

Ghost,

Follow these instructions on how to add a photo. I use Imgur too:

I use Imgur for hosting my photos.

Here is what I do to add pictures to my posts with Imgur:

1. I login to Imgur and find the picture I want to post:

2. On the Direct Link Option click "Copy".

3. Now go to FSM forum and find the Thread you want to add the picture too.

4. Find the post and click the "Reply" button. (If you do not see a reply button, you may need to refresh the browser screen. Or go to another post that does have a "Reply" Button.) You should see the next picture:

5. The add picture icon is circled in Red. Click on it, the next pic will show you what needs to be added:

6. Source circled in Red is where you will paste the copied information from Imgur, or any hosting site. Then I set dimensions to 500 X 350 and I leave Constrain proportion checked. These are arbitrary numbers, they can be set to whatever your prference may be. I do not add an Image Description, however you can if you like.

7. Click "OK" to add the picture. At this time you still have not posted the post, and you can go back and make adjustments. When done, click on "Submit your reply" at the bottom of the page.

8. Hope this helps.

Also, nice entry for this GB, a friend of mine had an 883. I really liked that bike!

@John,

Nice start on the Duc engine. And like you, I really like Alclad paints. So you know, the Panigale is my favorite bike, Italian perfection!

@Greg,

Glad to have you taking part in this GB! Looking forward to your progress on the Copper Chopper!

@Mac,

Nice start on the rims, although I feel for you with the spokes!

Nice builds going on so far guys! I’m going to be joining in soon. I have to get Done with another group build and make a decision On what bike to build. Then it’s game on.

if you want permission for a test flight.... the answer is "no".

Spokes! Oh how I loathe them - I knew there was a reason this kit was in the stash for so long.

By the time you read this I'll have broken some

Greg - looking forward to that one.  Bikes are kind of addicting for sure so this may be your first... but not your last.  Try one of the newer Tamiya kits next - it will blow your mind.

Ghost - you need to upload your photos to a hosting site.  I use imgur.com.  You can download the app on your phone or use the website on your computer to upload pictures to your profile.  Then click on the uploaded image and click on the BBCode link and paste that into your FSM posting.  There are many postings on these forums about posting images.  Good luck.

As for my build - I'm punting on the Vallejo, I like alclad way too much.  I shot alclad gloss black base for the first time and it went on very nice.  Bad news is the web site sayd 4-6 days to fully cure :/  Thats okay I'm waiting on the titanium gold from spruebrothers.  Not the best pics here but everything that will be aluminum or metalic has been base coated.

Thanks,

John

Ken, hope you're feeling better after your fall.

Great group of folk signed up here. I'd sure like to try to join up with my recently purchased 1/8 Revell US Police Motorbike.

Somebody recently posted this as a finished kit, and I'm scared to follow after him, as his looked like the real deal.

This will be my first bike (that I remember, anyway). I'm a very slow builder and will be unable to work on in over much of the winter. But since you said you might extend the GB anyway, I'd like to stick my neck out if it's ok with you.

Looking forward to picking up some tips here.

John, good to see you underway. Somebody had to be the first out of the gate!

Thanks, If you're thinking if the 1/6 CB750 I wish I could afford it too. My kit is the wallet-friendly 1/12 version.# m

Started the Ducati Paginale 1199 - all red.  My 3rd time going over the kit and the only reason I didn't start earlier....

She loves looking at model kits.  Sits in the box top and licks plastic... go figure.

Anyhow engine assembled and ready for paint.  The block will be aluminum and the other parts gold.  First time using vallejo metal colors so stand by.

Thanks,

John

MacAtilla

Can I join this?

I've got a fujimi Honda C100 super cub (which I think is a motorcycle but might be a moped or scooter).

If the cub isn't allowed I'll attempt a Tamiya Honda CB 750

(both 1/12)

Thanks, Mac

Mac, the Super cub is a 2 wheeled unenclosed vehicle. So, It's allowed. Although, I for one would like to see your Tamiya  Honda CB 750/. I wish I could afford it

Ghost - Yes, I'll allow it only if its not prepainted from Testors. I looked at pictures of the kit people posted on Ebay, and didn't see any thing already painted. Those pictures only had a single bag of parts. give us a photo of all your parts laid out, just to be sure.  that will be my only objection.

And welcome aboard guys. I'll add you both to the roster tomorrow

Is that John Surtees?

Where can I find a kit of a Honda Gold Wing? Preferably a 1984 Gold Wing.

There's a few on Ebay at the moment. It doesn't say what year they are though.

Ken,

Very sorry to hear about your fall. But, I'm glad you are recovering well.

I won't be starting my bike build right away, I have to finish a few other GB's before I do. But, I am looking forward to seeing the progress of the other builds. This will be my first motorcycle build as well.

Whoa!  I hope you have a speedy recovery.  I'm sure, like me, everyone is in the starting blocks ready to build.  Take care of yourself and we're 18 days from snipping, glueing and painting.

Thanks keav. things are feeling quite a bit better now now. So. I should be ready to go on the 1st. I've never built a bike before, so I'm anxious to see how it goes. Cool

Hi every one are you all ready to get to building your bikes? I am!

My apologies for my absence. I fell down a couple of step and really messed up my arm and my feet.  I didn't break anything. but I couldn't do much of anything for a while. Things are still swollen, but not like they were. So, now,  I'm getting anxious to get back to the bench.
