Thanks guys, I was sure they were legit items, they just look like cardboard. I was in a humorous mood and trying to keep things light. and showing my COMPLETE ignorance of armor at the same time.
Steve
Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

On the bench: Airfix 1/72nd Harrier GR.3/Fujimi 1/72nd Ju 87D-3
Those are Combat Identification Panels that give out a cool spot in a gunner's thermal sights so hopefully he doesn't shoot a friendly tank.
What modifications? Cardboard armor?
Gamera Thanks Bruce- kit 3556. It's supposed to represent the latest modifications to the Abrams.

Thanks, Cliff, and I apologize, I remember now from the begining of the thread.

On the bench: 1/48 Eduard MiG-21MF
1/35 Takom Merkava Mk.I
I might join in with the Tamiya M1A2 #32592, the last tank I commanded as a company commander. I may try to back date it to an M1A1.

@AA,
The 109 is looking great.
@Cliff,
Nice start on the M1. Which Dragon model number is this kit?
Typical Dragon kit, a zillion parts where Tamiya would do the same with about a third as many. The rear deck is made of a half-dozen parts to keep up with all the engine modifications. No complaints though- fit so far has been excellent.
The main gun is again about a half-dozen parts. Again no complaint it looks far better and was much easier to assemble than two parts that cement down the middle.
Oops, sorry. 1/35 is the scale and this is it.
And where I stopped on it almost 2 years ago:
Looking good there, AA!
MC, I updated the roster with your entry. Nice to have some more British armor in here.
John, sure thing. Welcome aboard! What scale is that kit?
Would it be OK if I join you guys? Got a barely started Trumpeter T-64BV I'd like to get going.
Steve: Cool! The Challenger II is a good looking tank!
AA: Wow, even with an early start great to see you all assembled and the first paint coat on! Nice work!!!
Me, sliced into my thumb cleaning up road wheels yesterday. With the ritual blood sacrifice complete this can only turn into a good model...
Oops, sorry about that. Didn’t even notice that I started early. Anyway, here’s the latest, main body painting done:
Nice choiceSteve, good to see some more British armour.
I've decided to build the 1/72 Trumpeter Challanger II.
Armor is out of my comfort zone but I give them a go on occasion.
AA, your M109 looks like it's coming together quite nicely so far. I have to admit that I really do not like working with Italeri kits, but that doesn't mean you can't build nice models out of them. You did get off to a bit of an early start, but those couple of days don't make any difference, so no harm done.
Ben, I updated your entry in the roster. I'm a big fan of the S-Tank and it's unusual shape and the weird way it aims its gun. I might actually have to get one of those kits myself now...
Mike, imo the M113 does qualify as an armored vehicle. The armor is of course terrible, but it still does have armor. I added you to the roster with that kit.
Colonel, I'll put you down as TBD for now. Personally, I like the Bradley a lot more than the Abrams, but both are nice choices.
Swedish "S" Tank as a Swedish flag; I would enjoy seeing that one...

LAST COMPLETED:
1/35 Churchill Mk IV AVRE with bridge - DONE
NEXT PROJECT:
1/35 CH-54A Tarhe Helicopter
As said earlier, Trumpeter makes one and it's a nice kit. If I ever get back to mine, I have pics of one painted blue and yellow like the Swedish flag.
Buddy- Those who say there are no stupid questions have never worked in customer service.
AA: Looks good! A lot of those Italeri kits are still really nice, not as detailed as the new stuff but certainly not bad at all.
Nice selections there guys! Col, I'd go with the Brad but both sound cool.
I assembled the suspension system on my Abrams today. I'll see about getting some photos up when I have a little more done.
I'd like to join if it's not too late.
I've got a Meng M2A3 Bradley w/ Busk III.
I've also got a Tamiya M1A2 Sep Abrams Tusk II
I had planed to build them both this winter so I don't know which one to put in this build.
Anybody want to pick one ??
Which one gets the most votes by Sept 6 is the one I'll put up.
Looking to participate in this, but I don't know if my current kit will qualify. I was thinking it is a Softskin but when I went to Prime Portal to do some research it was in the Armor section. Here's a photo showing the box and where I'm at in construction. Looks like there will be some interesting builds in this GB, if the M113 doesn't work, I'll come back later in the year with another choice.
Thanx!
You are correct, it is the 1/35 Trumpeter kit. Not sure if I am doing the all green or the splinter camoflage (?). Also looking at updating the track to individual links.
Well, the M-109 progress has been great this week! This Italeri kit has been one of the most trouble-free kits, everything generally going right where it should. Finally ran into my first problem tonight; as you can see in the close-up photo of the front end, when affixing the top of the hull to the completed bottom, there’s a large gap in the front. Going to have to putty it up...

Initial construction phases (lower hull and gun breech) coming along quite nicely. I know it’s still early, but so far everythinig has just gone together perfectly. This is an old Italeri kit from 1984 (reboxed as Testors/Italeri); I know some folks don’t have a high opinion of Italeri, but so far this kit is practically falling together! Hope it keeps up...
Welcome aboard, Ben. I got you added to the roster. What brand and scale is the kit you're building?
BishNice subject ben, which kit is this, i didn't know anyone had produced it.
Trumpeter makes one in 1/35, but I don't know about other scales...
DRUMS01 I finally got my kit and detail for the British ship GB and now I am getting involved in this. I am going to build the Swedish "S" Tank... Please add me to your Modern Armor GB. Thanks! Ben
