Got the main body put together and primed using Tamiya grey primer out of the can. I find it's much easier and faster to prime from a can than messing with a spray brush and mixing primer/thinner and the clean up afterwards.  I need to add some filler in a few spots and make a muffler exhaust pipe since it was damaged. No separate track links for this kit, stucked using the kit vinyl tracks.  

Good work everyone. Sorry I have not been active more, but I have been having trouble with logging in and with my internet connection. I will begin my build as soon as I get a handle on my builds for the SSGB and the modern armor GB.

Bish - I get Modelkasten tracks from online retailers in Japan.  We rarely see any AM tracks here at my LHS.  Unfortunately you Brits get taxed to death when you buy stuff from overseas.  

Gamera - I'll be tackling this kit right after I get the M3 Stuart done.

The tax can be hit and miss, and it tends to be stuff i get from Japan that gets hit, but its normally only 2 or 3 quid, its the charge the post office adds that hurts more.

Nice looking tracks there G, and i agree, they do look like Dragon tracks. I can't find MK stuff in the UK but i might haveto try and find those as i am still outstandinga couple of sets of 251 tracks.

Since I've finished my Modern Armour Group Build Iraqi T-72, I'd like to jump in on this one. My entry is the Tamiya StuG III ausf G. But this is the remote control model. Fortunately I have the Jaguar resin interior for the Stug III for Tamiya. I have until next January so I'll be working to modify this dinosaur kit and add individual tracks (possibly Ostketten).

Thanks.  The exhausts and ditching rails really were trial and error for me on the kit, and I was surprised that whatever excess glue I used diring the several attempts I made to finally get the parts on, really either didn't really show once I primed and paintd the model, or cleaned off fairly easily.

PS. I was considering a larger Emhar (1/35 scale) tank as well for my stash but ended upo getting a Takom Mark V for about the same price as some of the Emhar kits on eBay.  I decided on the Takom because I wanted to do up one of these tanks in its original markings (as a UK tank) and the Takom has parts to doo either a male, female or composite/hermaphrodite, and comes with snap together tracks, plus its also a Mark V, so it will be at least a little bit of a different build 

I made some headway over the weekend on the Wiesel...AFV Club has an excessive number of steps for a kit with a relatively low tree/part count.  C'est la vie...or "es ist das leben" in this thread.

My goal is to take a picture at the end of each step...but that may grow tedious so I may start consolidating, as photography with a cell phone is not my strong suit!

Step 1:

I left off the ID tag plate, as it is not flush with the hull I forsaw it interferring with painting later on.  I'll attach it after the first base coat goes on.

Rear seats and the radio and missile control.  I am thoroughly impressed with the crip detail on the electronics, I can't wait to start painting it.  Closeups:

Too bad it will be hidden withing the hull along with most of the interior.

Here's what I'm building.  Dragon 1/35 Jagdtiger with Eduard fender set and Friulmodel tracks. The white box behind them is the diorama I plan to put it in. As soon as I finish my Bradley I'll start on this.

Here is an image of my build so far.  The color may be a bit washed out, but right now the tracks are still mostly just white primer, while the main body is a base blue/gray.  I'm hoping to finish up the base coat and start adding a bit of the gold and rust camoflage maybe in a day or two, when I get some more free time

I had a go with the Modelkasten (MoKa) injected plastic tracks for the SdKfz.7/1 tonight.  Although they are a bit tedious, they are easy to assemble.  The track pad press fits onto the shoe, which holds the shoe to the next one.  I’m using glue because you never know.  The MoKa white metal sprockets must be used, as the new track will not mesh correctly with the teeth of the kit sprockets.  I did two sets of ten links as a trial run; I probably have something like 150 links to go.  Pics to follow.

i have the 3 vehicle duckhunter (aka ADA) set of this vehicle. Also have a couple of FUCHS, a FENNIK, and a BOXER in the stash not counting the tanks. 

 

It's astonishing the size of this vehicle, as it's slightly larger than most of the 1/72 tanks on my shelf!  I'll get a photo up for reference eventually.

But this is only the second kit of theirs I've worked on, the first being a British Scimitar probably at least 8 years ago.  I recall being impressed by their kit quality back then, and this one, just from the look at the sprues, should be a treat.

I started my 1/72 scale Emhar Mark IV Tank last night and was surprised how quickly the kit went together.  For a smaller company that I've only seen a couple kits from I was really surprised and happy with the quality of the pieces (especially some of the thinner ones) and how well everything fit together.  The only couple of issues that I have had so far is that I had a little trouble with the exhaust muffler and piping.  The instructions say to bend the pipe slightly, but in doing so I accidentally broke it.  And it was hard to get the muffler to stay in place while gluing it, since it is supported by only three tiny legs (in line).  But that may have been partially my fault since there was another support on the piping (that I accidentally broke off) that may have helped hold the muffler in place better.

Other than that I am having just a little trouble getting a pair of rails ontop the tank together, since the parts are so thin and the points where they attach together is very small.

Additionally, the instructions could potentially be a little clearer since it is not always exactly clear where some of the parts are meant to attach.  On the other hand though, the slightly rubbery track pieces that they provided went together well with normal modeling glue and have also taken paint well.

I probably won't have any pictures till I'm mostly done though, but hopefully that won't be long.  I've already primed the model, and once I get these rails finally on, I can hopefully start painting it.  Here is an image of one of the possible paint jobs that I am considering trying though.

After finishing a couple of other projects, I should get a start on this during the weekend. This was one of the first tank models I built when I first got back into modeling. It was the Testors 80yr Anniversary reboxing of the Italeri.

My Leopard was out of stock in most of the places I order from so I ordered one off Ebay. She's on the slow boat from China right now- hopefully I'll have her by the end of the month. It'll give me time to get a little more work done my Abrams before I start on her.

With the exception of the figure, this one is going to be an OOB build since I doubt there's any AM sets for this model. I got the lower hull put together and decided to use a hot knife to add some zimmermit to the kit. It's going to look a bit rought since it's been a number of years since I last built any armor kits.  

The upper hull is not attached yet, will need to add zimmermit to it. Been checking out Panzer IV pics on the interent for various zimmermit schemes and as a guide for some of the smaller kit parts since the kit instruction sheet is somewhat vague. 

Oh! and this kit is no spring chicken either...

Ha-ha, I forgot to install the exhaust system prior to adding the winch.  Now it can't be threaded through the chassis.  Gosh, when I was a 7th grader I did not have this problem!  Chalk it up to old age.  But with old age comes experience and cunning (and boo-boo cover up know-how), so the forward pipe will be separated from the muffler and thus can be slid into place.   I wanted to keep the exhaust system separate until painting anyway.

Yeah the fit isn't the best, and lots of parts exhibit "part pucker" on their bottom edges where the molds separate.  But they just need a firm scraping with a blade and time to move on!

PFJN, a beutepanzer is a good build as they were an important part of German army especially in the first world war.

Although armor isn't a strong suit of mine (and especially not German armor), I do have an Emhar Mark IV Female WWI tank that I want to build, and I know that there were a few captured examples of this tank pressed into German service during WWI.  So if it is acceptable to do up a captured "Beutepanzer" I'd like to try and do this kit up that way.
