I'm thinking about setting up the first two posts myself.  What's the protocol there?  I realize that means I have to keep them up and I'm willing to do that, using Tankereasy's guidlines for the build.

i took over a GB years ago because the host fell off the face of the earth. I pertty much had to start a new thread transfer what had already been done and try to get the members to come over. I still haven't seen him to this day.

TE will be back, I don't know if he checks the site often or he's just too busy. One idea, once he returns, you can ask if y'all want to host it together and start an official thread.

It seems like a fun GB which I'm ready to go on, just nowhere to post the WIP.

I sent Tankereasy a PM the other day about getting the initial posts up and he hasn't replied.  Sounds like life is getting in the way.

I'm in with Encore's 1/48 A-37B Dragonfly. It's Squadron's boxing of the Monogram kit with all kids of extra goodies in the box.

I'm in with the Roden 1/72 C-123.

A new post in Group Builds should be started for this group build, with the first two entries being the announcement that it is starting and the end date.  The participants should be listed there with their entries.

The second post should be reserved for completed builds.

I guess I'm in the same boat as you are. As I have a 1/48 F105D Thud that I'd like to build but probably won't get started until mid-January. I'll give you my official notice when I start.

HHEEYYYYYYY! sorry guys, unfortunately these past couple weeks leading up to November have been really busy for me plus I’ve had family visiting so I've been a bit distracted but I’m here, so let’s get this going!

Yes November 1st is the official start date, and this will run through May 1st of next year!

remember this is all FIXED wing aircraft (any scale from 1/144 through 1/32) that flew during the Vietnam war from anytime between 1965 through 1975, also they can be from any nation, doesn’t have to just been American aircraft for those that want to build a Mig which I think would be super cool!  I sadly won’t be able to start my build for this until probably mid January, but hey that’s why this is gonna run for several months!

Sorry for the delayed response but let’s get the ball rolling!  Post updates in here, and thanks again to those that are gonna participate.  I ask for those that are going to be part of the GB, please make an initial post of what your build will be!

Well that's too bad. I have a nice A-7A all ready to go.

I may just build it outside the GB anyway.

November is already here.  The year has flown by.  I have been trying to straighten out my long dormant photobucket account in preparation for this GB.  I have a few things I need to finish up, and then I will start with a build for here.  I have some pretty unique subjects lined up, and I am looking forward to starting on them.

Cheers,

Greg

TankerEasy

Hey guys, just a little update, the GB will start November 1st and will run through May 1st of 2020, as stated previously this can be any fix winged aircraft...

Well darn, i guess my Revell 1/72 HH-3 jolly green giant will have to stay on the shelf of doomCrying

But, I'm still up for trying this GB.. although, my success rate at GB's is dismal.. they do motivate me to get some stuff done...

Not sure how I'll feel about it on Nov 1st, but  I am thinking a skyraider or F-100D/F... I'm sure I'll change my mind... love phantoms...

I'll be in. I have numerous 1/48: AT-37B, T-28A, OV-10, O-2, F-4D, A-1E, Pilatus Turbo Porter. Also have 1/72 AC-119, AC-130, and C-123. Don't know which will be done yet, but plenty to choose from.

I'd do that C-123!  I'm leaning towards doing an O-1 bird dog, figured that be an unusual build.

Also little reminder for everyone, We'll kick this off November 1st!  Again its any fixed wing aircraft flown during Vietnam from the period of 1965 through 1975, that means it doesnt have to be an American aircraft for those that want to build a Mig!  also its any scale from 1/144 through 1/32!

I would like to join this GB, but as I am moving to Europe it will be at least 4-6 months before I could start my build.

yes, keeping it fixed wing only, I understand it was heavily reliant on choppers, but there was still a huge role played by fixed wing aircraft Wink

Sorry but I need to change the plane I'll be building. Instead of the C-123K, I'll build the F-105F Combat Martin in 1/72.

Cheers,

Russ

When you said "any fixed wing aircraft" did you intend to rule out helicopters? I hope not, since Vietnam was a "chopper" war.

I'd like to be in with a Roden 1/72 C-123K that I'll modify into a ROCAF 34th Squadron "Black Bat" special operations bird, one of four that flew in Vietnam. Not sure I can finish it in only 6 months though.

Cheers,

Russ

Yeah, I might be able to do something, I have several jets that would work. Put me down for TBD and I'll see if I can get something done. The way I'm going though it'll be 10 years before I get to it.

BTW, I never care how many join my GB's. If one or two are intrested than it's a go. Usually a few more join as it goes on. My GB's are somewhat diffrent than most so I usually don't get very many participants anyway.

I wonder if Caracal will release their planned 1/48 F-111A sheet by the start date?  I would love to do a Combat Lancer bird.  I have the infamous Hobby Boss kit, but having the decals would be enough incentive to start it.
