Thanks Greg. The samurai is from a company called Hero Forge:

https://www.heroforge.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-Yyosorv1gIVRRiGCh3cjQzwEAEYASAAEgL4D_D_BwE

They have a program where you can design your own figure for tabletop games like Dungeons & Dragons. I think they only print in 32mm gaming scale. They will sell you the pattern for the figure for ten bucks US though and you can print it yourself in whatever size you want. I don't have a 3D printer so I took it to our local library which does- they printed him up as a 100mm figure for five bucks to pay for the raw plastic their machine uses. So fifteen bucks in all, I can't complain!

The Stuart is looking eggcellent...like a tiny, scrappy terrier! And that Samurai figure is amazing. Was that a pre-produced item, or your own design?

I did some colour modulation on the Staurt. I'm not sure how much shows up here, I should have took the photos earlier in better light.

I had a cartoony samurai 3D printed for my Ha-Go. Hated to cut the figure in half, it was really well detailed. I'm going to see about getting a cowboy to go with the Staurt.

Beautiful build Greg. It looks like you put as much in it as you would a serious build. I guess they're all serious builds to us though.

Thanks, Steve! To tell you the truth, with only a handful of pieces for the whole kit, adding a few details seemed more like fun than a serious project.

As the flip side of that, I just picked up a set of 'egg' F-5 Tiger IIs from Freedom Models...a company whose products I've never seen before...and those 'egg' kits look as complicated as any 'real' kit. (Not sure whether I'll get them into the GB; I'll have to see how the couple others I've already committed to go!)

Cheers

John: Great job, she's looking at a SR-71 - well at small round SR-71 anyhow.

Calling this one finished.

A few last-minute additions: no gear wells or doors on the kit...just holes for the struts to peg into...so I added some sheet-stock doors and painted gear wells to match the 'false canopy' marking the CAF use on the underside of their Hornets. Final addition was the Hornet's characteristic arrestor hook. ('Speedy' refers to indicated airspeed rather than the pilot's mental acuity; the 'Ol Speedster has been known to overlook his flaps now and then on final approach, so a 'hook in the tail' can't be a bad thing.)

Greg: She looks awesome! Love the extra details of the ejection seat, LEX fences, etc!

And thanks! I did the colour modulation thing on the Staurt today. I'll try to get some photos up soon, going to make sure the paint is good and dry before I handle her much. Still not sure how I'm going to decal her, I think I'm going to raid the spares instead of using the kit ones.

Last compulsive cockpit additions before 'buttoning up' my Hornet.

An F-18 just looks strange without that distinctive block of an ejection seat top visible behind the pilot. I managed to wedge one in...and added an old surplus etch HUD frame, just for good measure:

Had a productive afternoon of painting and decals. A few 'teaser' shots...with a few of the other CF-18 details I added, for fun:

Should have Capt. Speedy on the flight line in a day or two....

Congrats to Steve for being the first to 'get his yolk on the griddle...' (so to speak); that F-15 is a little beauty!

G, your growing squadron looks awesome. Love that Stuart, in particular: the real thing was so stubby, the 'egg' version doesn't look that different! Big Smile

I got the M5 together. I just primed her after taking these photos.

And the Type 97 is almost done. I'm going to give her a good wash to get rid of the excess putty.

There were some big empty places under the sponsons. I puttied the heck outta the thing.

Gam, I'm done. Cute little F-15.

I might be able to squeze in another later, not sure what it would be. Ship, plane or tank.

Greg the figure looks really good.  The PE is a nice touch.

I'm in the middle of another project and told myself I wouldn't start my egg build until I finished... but I might have have to set it aside for a little while.  This is eggciting.

Good work so far everyone. Yes

DasBeav: She's looking good! I built the same kit a little while back, haven't posted it though. Still looking around for a cartoony looking tank commander for it, I'm going to try to get something 3D printed up. I did use a little putty on the seams on the turret on mine. Then again the turret on the real tank was two cast pieces so it did have a seam on the real thing.

Looking forward to more progress!

Hornet(and Speedy) are looking good.

Thanks, Gamera! Yeah, er, I didn't fill in the gap for realism. Yeah, that's the ticket! Realism...I actually forgot to sand and fix some seams. But it's primed now and doesn't look to bad.

Got my Hornet's basic construction done...all 6 pieces!

A little puttying & sanding required, but nothing strenuous.

Since basic assembly was so simple, I decided to show the pilot some love, since he'll be visible under the big egg-shaped canopy. Kit parts are really basic:

A little careful painting...adhesive tape strips for the oxygen mask straps, some leftover etch buckles for the harnesses, and plastic bits and lead wire for details and comm link. Used a little '5-second fix' UV-cure resin for his visor. Painted up some decal scrap for the ever-present shoulder patches. I give you Capt. 'Speedy' Eggbert:

And here's 'Speedy' test-fitted in his office:

Next up will be a few exterior details.

Greg

Just had a ball catching up on this thread. Fun stuff!

Love the badges, BTW.

Carry on, thank you for entertaining me.......

Greg: You're welcome to jump in anytime. The Hasegawa egg kits and the Meng Toonz tanks and planes are widely avalable and a blast to build. I need to get some work done on my Corsair for Bish's Commonwealth GB but I felt so krappy I just pulled out the Toonz Staurt and fooled around with it. Got about half of it built in one evening just screwing around while watching YouTube videos! If I ever enter a Weekend GB I'll pull out a Toonz tank.
