And a super late entry... my wife's first plastic model.  I bought her this for her birthday - Airforce One, but she chose a more creative livery.  She's a very creative doll-house builder.  Maybe we'll see more builds from her here.

Nice one Greg looks like a tough little nut, nice looking shamrocks. Have been trying to track down more sci-fi versions if we were to do this again, haven't found anything more yet.

Ever-so-slightly late to the party, here is my Hasegawa 'egg' F-4E Phantom...'tweaked' slightly to F-4J standard, to represent an a/c of the USMC's VMFA-333 'Shamrocks' during the Vietnam War. I ditched the kit's sole included ordnance -- which I think are anti-ship missiles for the JASDF version -- and cobbled up a more-suitable load-out of Sidewinders, Sparrows and a few iron bombs (in the finest Marine 'mud mover' tradition) from other kits and spares.

Talk about the eleventh hour thought I wouldn't get finished in time. Thanks Gamera it's been fun watching the builds and getting this one built. 

 

Never seen an 'egg' Viper before. She's absolutely gorgeous!

She looks pretty much done to me, and that's some nice work! What do you have left to do?

The M6 Staurt and cowboy commander. As I said some of the tools off the back vanished. So I was going to cover them with a camo net. And now the camo net material has vanished... shheeeeeeeeeeessssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhh... So anyway here she is with the holes still in the back...

The Fujimi Type 97 and samurai commander...

Anyway here we are. Some issues with the Staurt, I'll hit them below. Anyway here's the whole diorama...

My pudgy little rhino is beginning to look more rhino-like.

The kit's nose gear strut was supposed to attach to the F-4E gun fairing that I cut off, so I had to extend the strut a bit; oddly enough, it actually looks better that way. No gear well, of course (I'll 'paint' one in later) but it looked odd without the long nose gear door section, so I added one on.

Even with the egg-shape, there's something reassuringly-familiar about the stance:

After playing with potential geometry for underwing stores, I decided to relocate the kit's only set of pylons inboard. (They're under the intakes now instead of the wings...but, hey,  ya'  gotta do what ya' gotta do!) I also found a set of ill-shaped 1/144  missiles in my spares box...I think they were intended to be HARMs...that I slightly reshaped to faintly resemble Sparrows for under the fuselage on this Vietnam-era build.

BTW: Haven't been able to get on till now. My M6 & Type 97 are practically done- I put them on the base yesterday. Only issue is the tools on the back on the M6 vanished out of the box. Going to try to find some camo net today and put it there over the holes and take the photos. 

If anyone couldn't get on and need an extension just let me know.

Still shooting for getting in 'under the wire' for the official finish-line. (If not, I'll go ahead and post it anyway.)

Here's my wee beastie with the lines slightly re-contoured and the crew aboard, VMFA-333 'shamrocks' added to flight helmets via my HP printer and inkjet decal paper.

As is evident from the 'parts' shots at the top of the post, the kit has a single molded-in pilot. But since any proper 'rhino' just looks wrong without a back-seater, I concocted a 'mini-me' RIO from the dome-shaped clicker of a cheap giveaway ball-point pen. (Since the rear-seat area is limited and I didn't feel like doing major surgery, I figured a 'forced perspective' GIB would better than nothing.)

And the 'safety shot' with canopy test-fitted, just to make sure everything is copacetic, fit-wise:

Should get masking and some paint done tomorrow.
