it looks like, despite my best efforts to only partially mask, and spray away from the open areas, I got some of my overspray on my aluminum, so I will have to fix that.

Speaking from personal experience...when does that ever not happen? Big Smile

Still, lookin' good so far!

Wow that looks awesome!!!

And I have to agree, not sure they's any way not to get some overspray somewhere... Bang Head

Justin, your Fort is gorgeous! That two-tone scheme looks great on such a 'compact' presentation. Well done!

The summer has ripped by so quickly...I didn't realize the GB's finish line was looming. I've got one last 'egg' on the griddle of the three I put forward at the start, so here it is--Hasegawa's well-known 'egg' F-4 Phantom:

Nice of Hasegawa to include 2 decal sheets for the Japanese and US versions. However, I think I'll do a few quick 'snips' to turn the -E/-EJ version into and F-4J; I've got a hankering for a little 'Marine Air' courtesy of an old set of laser-printed 1/144 decals in the stash, which should just about fit:

Due to the egg's 'abbreviated' architecture, the radome should work nicely as-is for the shorter-nose -J version. A few hacks as outlined below, and we should be in business.

I'll have to trade the kit's missiles for a little more 'Vietnam'-looking ordnance...and trim up the kit's AF-style underwing pylons to look more like the USN/USMC types.

More as things develop.

Greg: Ohhhh love the idea of the modifications for a whole new version. Looking forward to seeing how she comes out.

BTW: I could extend the GB if anyone really wants to go on with this? I'd though about doing another next year if there's any interest.

Well....My son hasnt quite had the inspiration to build our Osprey Eggs, so an extension would have to be allmost indefinite!  lol

When we do build them, I will definitely add them to the thread whether it's cloased or not...

I did finish 'Little Miss Mischief' over the weekend...here are her "glamour shots":

Well, I got the 3D printed figure for the US tank commander (a cowboy, what's more American than a cowboy?) the other week and he's mostly painted. I started on a palm tree for the base last night and the airbrush acted so annoying I almost threw it across the room. Hopefully I'll get it to work this weekend and I can finish up by the end of the month.

I'm cutting him off at the waist so I didn't bother to paint anything lower than the beltline.

Holy Hannah, but that's a big hog-leg he's got there! Who needs a measly 75mm, when you've got somethin' like that in yer holster?Cowboy

Can't wait to see the 'big reveal!'

Lol Greg, yeah his revolver is quite a bit bigger than the 37mm gun on the M6 Stuart he's commanding!

Been buried at work so not going to get the Sherman done on time.  It's assembled, but the MM 5N Navy Blue is more grey than blue so looking for something else.  When it's donewill post up pics, closed or not.

When it comes to carry shooting hardware, bigger is always better.....ie. my Ruger 1911....beats my lady's J frame .38 like a full house takes out a busted flush.

Appreciate your hosting G....will look forward to a little twisted fun next time around.

Still shooting for getting in 'under the wire' for the official finish-line.Big Smile (If not, I'll go ahead and post it anyway.)

Here's my wee beastie with the lines slightly re-contoured and the crew aboard, VMFA-333 'shamrocks' added to flight helmets via my HP printer and inkjet decal paper.

As is evident from the 'parts' shots at the top of the post, the kit has a single molded-in pilot. But since any proper 'rhino' just looks wrong without a back-seater, I concocted a 'mini-me' RIO from the dome-shaped clicker of a cheap giveaway ball-point pen. (Since the rear-seat area is limited and I didn't feel like doing major surgery, I figured a 'forced perspective' GIB would better than nothing.)

And the 'safety shot' with canopy test-fitted, just to make sure everything is copacetic, fit-wise:

Should get masking and some paint done tomorrow.

Greg: Looks good!! Love the scratchbuilt RIO!

BTW: Haven't been able to get on till now. My M6 & Type 97 are practically done- I put them on the base yesterday. Only issue is the tools on the back on the M6 vanished out of the box. Going to try to find some camo net today and put it there over the holes and take the photos.

If anyone couldn't get on and need an extension just let me know.

My pudgy little rhino is beginning to look more rhino-like.

The kit's nose gear strut was supposed to attach to the F-4E gun fairing that I cut off, so I had to extend the strut a bit; oddly enough, it actually looks better that way. No gear well, of course (I'll 'paint' one in later) but it looked odd without the long nose gear door section, so I added one on.

Even with the egg-shape, there's something reassuringly-familiar about the stance:

After playing with potential geometry for underwing stores, I decided to relocate the kit's only set of pylons inboard. (They're under the intakes now instead of the wings...but, hey,  ya'  gotta do what ya' gotta do!) I also found a set of ill-shaped 1/144  missiles in my spares box...I think they were intended to be HARMs...that I slightly reshaped to faintly resemble Sparrows for under the fuselage on this Vietnam-era build.

The M6 Staurt and cowboy commander. As I said some of the tools off the back vanished. So I was going to cover them with a camo net. And now the camo net material has vanished... shheeeeeeeeeeessssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhh... So anyway here she is with the holes still in the back...
