Admiral, I'll join in with the 1/72 Revell Gato. 

Been wanting to get her built for a couple of years.  Missed my target date of Oct 11, 2018 for getting it done, the 75th anniversary of one of the more famous boats going on "Eternal Patrol".

I've got a couple that would fit. At the rate I'm building though getting something done by the end of time is overly optimistic. I'll see what I can do...

Lol.  Hoping it will find a home in the state veterans office in Salem.  They have a few items in a display area and case in the main lobby.  She is a monster at 52 inches long, may have to break out the old autobody paint gun for it.

Have the complete Big Ed PE and brass props and the 5" and 20mm's from shapeways.

BTW, I also have the badges up as well.

Saw the badges, they're great.  Don't know how much of all that brass I'll end up using.  Doubt I'll use the hull plating but might use the decking but that's tbd.   I think I gave around$60 for it.

The 144 shears gave me fits until I finally tossed them.  At least this time they're twice the size

The only big gal I walked was the Mo, moored behind the Arizona, fitting tribute IMO. Drove past the Bama while driving a Simi, couldn't stop, just saw it from the road

Like the ominous firepower of these ships, we have an impressive group of ship builders here, myself excluded. This is my first warship. As being the greenhorn, I will look to you folks for advice along the way. 

I hope you guys will not annoyed by my dragging anchor.

Steve:I think the four Iowa class battleships are pretty much the same though. So walking around the 'Mo' is close to the same as the 'Wisky'. I looked and only the 'Mo' and 'Wisky' got the late '80s era missile launchers so there is that difference between them and the 'Iowa' and 'New Jersey'. 

Bakster: I haven't built a ship kit since I was a youngster. This is going to be interesting... 

I'll have to go though the stash and see what I've got. I know a 1/700th 'U.S.S. Yorktown' I picked up in the museum giftshop after touring the carrier. A 1/700th LST that my uncle served aboard during the Second World War. And a 1/350th Dragon modern missile cruiser that I toured during the IPMS Nationals when they were held in Virginia Beach/Norfolk. 

Bakster and Gam, don't worry bout it. This GB is for newbies more that for us sea dogs who already have one in the shipyard at all times.

Any questions just ask.

I'm in way deeper than oars....need the bilge pump and bailing buckets, and that probably wont be enough.

Dug the Gato out and found the 20's, wrong base mounts on them, but don't think my scratch work will sufice to deal with it, so they may keep the "cone" bases rather than the open mounts.  And no 5 incher, now remembering that he had issues making it then and I never reordered it that I remember.  Have to go back in and see if still available.

**EDIT**  Have to reorder the 20's, now available with the Mk10 bases.  He makes a 1/350 5"/51, have to see if he worked out the bugs on the 1/72.

Okay, here is question 1. I just found out the local hobby shop as an Atlantis 1:535 USS Wisconsin BB-64 battleship in stock. This is an old 60s kit. That being the case, old technolgy that made it. I did some research on the Trumpeter and it seems to be built pretty well. 

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?  No pressure, just inquiring.

Okay, here is question 1. I just found out the local hobby shop as an Atlantis 1:535 USS Wisconsin BB-64 battleship in stock. This is an old 60s kit. That being the case, old technolgy that made it. I did some research on the Trumpeter and it seems to be built pretty well. 

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?  No pressure, just inquiring.

 

Unless you're doing a vintage build I'm not sure I'd even mess with the old Atlantis kit. With the new Trumpeter 1/350th one and there has to be a newer 1/700th kit out there I'd go with one of them. Plus the wierd scale will make it hard to find parts if you decide to add any aftermarket. 

Oh, and my apologies- it's Wisconsin- for some reason I keep wanting to add an 'o' in there to spell Wisconsion...
