Howdy Mach 1,

Does the GB include Air Force planes that end up in civilian service?

I would like to build a Canadian Vickers Catalina that went to the USAAF for service, then to RCAF, then sold as surplus.

Ended up down under in service with TAA Sunbird Services from 1962 to 1966. This is the livery that I want to model.

Let me know what you think.

Cheers

Piers

For grins and giggles, would a Harrier (AV-8A) in USMC markings count?

Yep.

That Haitian P-51 would be quite a looker too.

Mach,

Put me down for a 1/72 Tamiya P-51D/K. Country to be decided. According to Wikipedia 28 coutries flew her during and after WWII and I have decals for most of them.  May do one of the odd ducks like Cuba or the PLAAF.

Sure thing.

From looking through the list of operators, the German, Japanese, and PLAAF P-51s would be considered war spoils (captured craft as opposed to exports). The rest of the list has a few gray areas but would all be fair game.

No problem Boss. The Cuban birds probably fall in one of the darker shades of gray areas as well. That's not a problem as there are still some odd ducks out there. Just found some decals for a Haitian Mustang (it's a light gray, unlike a lot of postwar Mustangs which were natural metal, plus they adapted F-86 tanks to the hard points. Don't normally do underwing stowage, but that ticks the just weird enough to model box in my brain. Kinda like an Iranian F-14 carrying a Hawk missile under her wings.). The green and black camo Indonesian Mustang with a red spinner and silver undersides is tempting as well. Somalia is also in the running.

I'd like to see a Haitian P51! Definitely thinking outside the box

Glamdring

I suspect I will be overcomitting with builds in 2020, but put me down for a Dragon's 1/35 SU-100 Six Day War kit in Egyptian markings.

I know the feeling, Glamdring. Still, glad you decided to join up.

Got you down, and welcome!

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

OK, I'll do a 1/72 Revell Ki-45 Nick

Wait, can they be captured??

I'd been thinking lawfully obtained for this GB.

Captured/war spoils is a whole GB in and of itself that I was thinking of doing in 2021.

I can put you down as TBD for now.
