Nick: That looks awesome! That's cool how the starboard wing insignia wraps around the radome, but I guess it would have to.
Nice start there on the Sabre!

crown- Good work on your Sabre so far! :)
Justin - Congrats on your finish! I’ve never airbrushed acrylics before; did Vallejo airbrush well?
I’ll add your chosen pictures to the front page when y‘all are ready and have the pics you want. Until then, what do you wish to name/title your entries?

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” - John 3:16-17
Many thanks fella's
Gamera. The kit decals worked out well.
John 3:16. I'm waiting on some paint for the F-86.
The corsair in done got some pics before the afternoon rain comes.
Nick.
Nick: That looks perfect!!! Great show!!!
Really nice, Nick, love the photos. However, on the last one the short focal length makes the pilot look fat!

Good work, crown!
What’s your favorite picture for the front and what would you like to title your art?
Gamera. thank you the pics were rushed.
John. Yeah. many thanks but again lighting all around, I wish one bolt was in the the shot!
John 3:16. I appreciate it thanks again. I like this pic what do you think?
with this title Lt Guy Bordelon VC-3 NAVY ACE July 1953.
That pic will work; I’ll add it to the front page!
I’ll keep an eye out for your Sabre, too. :)
Crown, that Corsair looks Fantastic!
Guys, I haven't forgotten the group build. I was recently temporarily transferred to a different one of our shops that is super busy so I haven't had the same type of lunch time availability to stop by the site to update with pics...
I have begun the Airfix 1/72 Sabre. It is. Nice little kit! Cleano assembly, seams are minimal. I will post some photos soon, hopefully

Mortal as I am,I know that I am born for a day. But when I follow at my pleasure the serried multitude of the stars in their circular course, my feet no longer touch the Earth...
That sounds cool Justin.
I haven't forgotten about this GB either. Just busy with other stuff. I'm hoping to get back to the F-51D before too long.
Justin. many thanks.
I started the primer and gave coat of metal color dural aluminium.
some drying time now.
Finally had the opprotunity to get on a computer (rather than a tablet)to load some photos-Imgur is a bit of a PITA to use on mobile...
Here are a few photos of my Airfix 1/72 F86 Sabre. If most Airfix kits are like this, I will start buying Airfix! The assembly was simple and smooth! It didnt take long to get to this stage at all!
Next up is a primer coatto check seams, and onto the color. Bare metl, probably the Duraluminum that Crown is spraying....lol
Nick & Justin: Wow, those look fantastic guys!
Gamera Nick & Justin: Wow, those look fantastic guys!
Thanks, Gamera!
I was able to get some benchtime in today, plus, did a lot of prep sanding for the Duraluminum finish while watching Midway with my little guy...
Here's my progress so far:
had a he'll of a time getting a nice smooth glossy finish for the aluminum paint. Everything I did ended up pebbly. I ended up sanding the final gloss coat with 1000, 1500 then finally 3000 grit sandpaper. it was smooth as a baby's butt, but not glossy. I think the finish looks just fine!
I will let it sit overnight, then I may mask off different panels and hit them with some dark aluminum and regulare aluminum as well, for a bit of variation...
Looks good . I'm still testing these vallejo metal paints they sure act funny.. we see down the road. what paint are you using?
I am using the Vallejo Metal Air line too. So far, my dificulties have been with getting the surface right before spraying the metal....
I love that Justin, it looks soooo good!
I'm going to have to try the Vallejo metal line. I prefer acrylic paint but I've already got so much invested in Alclad.
I'm adding a couple of drops of tamiya thinner it seem to fix that , it's a learning process for me.
updated pics.
Good work, y’all!
As for me, here’s Installment 3:
I’ve started on the tank assembly. In keeping with the tank I’m attempting to replicate, I had some modifications to do.
In the photo above, front right fender is partially gone and the front left fender is all gone; also, the side shown is rather beaten up. So, I replicated these features on my model with a saw and tin foil. Analyzing other pictures, I additionally removed the rear left fender.
Also, before implementing the above modifications, I’d already placed on the “extremely sooty” exhaust pipes...
Nick: That NM finish looks flawless!
John: Great job there- really like the bent and battered fenders.
John3:16 KJV. great start.
Gamera. thank you its been an experience.
Thanks, guys. :)
My latest pics.. the painting was the easy part!! kit decals ...
another gloss coat then weathering yea...
She looks good to me Nick.
I started the Academy 1/48th F-86 a couple years ago. The yellow stripes for the wings and fusilage made a mess, so I tried masking and painting them. That didn't work out well either. She's currently sitting in a box where I just gave up. I need to pull her out, repaint, and try again.

Looks great, Nick! It wouls appear as though I am about a week behind you on our twin 86's builds! I was able to add some panel tone variation and a gloss clear coat to my 1/72nd offering:
Hopefully I will be up for decals over coffee tomorrow morning.....
My morning Solitude:
Worked on getting the decals on before the wife and kids woke up this morning. This bird is in the livery of Major John Glenn's mount during the Forgotten war:
looking sharp those decals are a lot better than hasegawa ones that I'm dealing with they need a lot of setting solutions. lol still chugging along
Congrats on the progress, guys! Your Sabre’s look close to the finish line! :)
Did anyone watch the Wash. DC flyovers on TV? Would’ve been a nice show to see in-person.
John 3:16 KJV. Thanks, landing gear and speed brakes on.. I gave a light wash and Tamiya clear flat coat ,still some same stuff to do but now getting close....
Justin & Nick: Sorry, somehow I missed your last posts. Great job there on the F-86s. The yellow stripes look perfect!!!
