I started decaling today. Not a quick job, there are at least 120 of them!

Virtually all of the model has a decal on it.

I'm almost done the saucer, almost.

I still have the bottom registration markings to do to finish the saucer.

I realize I haven't postedd any WIP updates in quite a while!  So, the basic construction is done, but I still have to add the armament and a LOT of supplies/accessories, plus decals and weathering.  But here it is so far:

Mopar Madness the viper came out great!

Mach71, can’t imagine doing that many decals. Nice work.

GMorrison, don’t envy you.

AA, that’s looking real good.

I’ve hit a wall on building for the past week or so. Put the decals on and they went on “okay” for Tamiya decals. The number behind the snorkel on the turret is a little uneven which annoys me just a “little”.

Going to try to get this finished within the next week since it’s so close to completion. Not sure where to go with the weathering right now. I kind of like the parade ground look but it also looks plain.

While digging in a box of resin figures for another project found an Alpine Cold War Soviet tanker I forgot I had and I’ll probably put him in the turret as he’s much better detailed then the Tamiya guy.

A lot of great work here.

So Caravelle went into the body shop.

Mask and Bondo.

Strip mask.

Sand.

I've primed it a second time and it's down to little gaps. Photos of those to follow.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

I completed the filing of PITA model and ecided to experiment with light spots and shading to h\give a faed look to the paint. I think it came out wel an am no waiting for the future to cure so I can decal.

GreySnake, The tank is looking good!

68gt the paint on your Jug is great!

How are the seams on the Caravele GMorrison? That photo looks daunting, but it looks like you are winning!

And your paint looks real nice Theuns!

Nice progress all around!

The decaling continues. It's time consuming, I'm almost half way through the secondary hull.

The saucer decals went on flawlessly, but the rest are being a problem. Many of the decals shattered, the neck ones very badly.

The saucer decals are very cool!

65GT , that’s some nice decaling!

GMorrison, and here I thought the 1/48 Monogram He-111 I built had a lot of filling!

Theuns, I like it!

Mach71, thanks and that’s looking really cool!

Had the T-55 near completion and decided the parade ground look wasn’t doing it for me. Against my better judgment started weathering it with various products by Ammo and AK.
It doesn’t look as boring now. I didn’t take the best pictures so a lot of the weathering is washed out at the moment. From watching old footage of Soviet tanks on training I could go much heavier on the weathering and still be fine. Really going to make the effort to knock this model out apart from the final flat cote and figure this weekend.

Sure, sounds good. I'll order a new  gallon of Bondo!

The T-55 really looks good now. Ready to roll right through Checkpoint Charlie.

Theuns, thank you! If the group build is going to continue I can add something else since the T-55 is about done. I’m trying to decide between starting a Panther G, Tiger I Afrika, Leopard 1 A3 and Leopard 2 A6 for my next project. Or I could just restart the King Tiger that’s been on the shelf for six months that only has zimmerit applied and nothing else.

Thank you GMorrison, glad you like it.

The Enterprise is getting close to done, but I have lots of kits in my stash to build!

I'll be happy to continue.

All thats left on the Enterprise now is the engine decals. They go slow because I want them to completely dry between steps. I don't want to disturb the decals.

I extended till 31 Sept '20 :-)

We are being addresed by our prezz tonight to heat what the new rules will be for a evel 3 lockdown.

All good and well but there i till very little work now and the expert ay the unemployment may rise from 26% to close to 50% as the economy ha gone under in many sectors :-(

I also started this acaemy 1/48 F4b in the meantime

I dont kno why academy din't mold in throttles or suply a decal for the IP but in this size I think the painting wil be by\usy enough to look OK.

The seats are nice but I added the belts and chute harnass.

Decals on the Enterprise are looking good.

The Phantom pit is looking really good Theuns. Those ejection seats look really good.

Got caught up doing other things this weekend and didn’t manage to get the T-55 done like planned. I did do some more weathering on the model as well as detail painting. So it should be wrapped up pretty quickly. The Alpine figure I was going to use doesn’t really fit the tank well so I’m trying out the Tamiya figure that came with the kit. Not the greatest but I’ll see if I can save him with painting. I’ll get some pictures up a little later.

Since the build has been extended I pulled the five kits I was thinking about starting from the stash. Now to decide which one should be my next build? Leaning towards one of the two Leopards.

I would do that Tiger, loads of thing to play with to weather it :-)

I dont do autos but this was a fun little build. Airfix 1/76 AEC Matador fuel truck used in North Africa by RAF 1940s.

Pastels for dust and oils for fuel streaks on tank.

Well, if I build the Tiger it’s a good thing the build goes on till September. The Tamiya kit was made before a lot of research came out on Tiger I’s in North Africa. Out of the box it won’t build as a representation of any of the 501st Tigers that were sent to North Africa. The work that needs done isn’t that hard mostly moving some pieces around and cutting off stuff that doesn’t belong. Then I can get into the joys of trying to figure out the camouflage.

That Matador is very well done. I am having a hard time believing it is 1/76.

Theuns the paint on your fuel truck is outstanding! Well done sir.

All 14 million decals are on the Enterprise, and there was much rejoicing!

They are still drying. I used A LOT of Micro sol and set.

If all goes well I can trim a few decals tomorrow and then clear it with pearl clear.

I like the pic of the flight deck in the background :-)

I got the basic airframe assembled. The intakes are going to give me hassles I see it now, the front and rear sections do not line up and I hve to either sand the front down or fill up and sand the rer section to match front, eiterway I will loose rivet and pannel detail so I will have to see what section will rescribe easiest.

The bottom joints also had gaps that I needed to fill with sprue. Hopefully this will result in a nice smooth joint after loads of sanding.

Impressive work all!

Sorry I've been AWOL from the GB.  I have progressed on my B-24, in the process of building the D, I pulled a J off the shelf of doom that has been there for years.  So I've been doing both versions of the Hase B-24 in parallel.  The D is painted and decaled I'm just working up the willingness to start on the weathering.  The J is nearing paint, I found a few seams and holes that need to be filled that I didn't do years ago when I first assembled it.  I'll try and get some pics posted shortly.

I'm calling this done. There is still stuff I could do, but after a week of decaling I'm ready to move on.

I cleared it with Pearl clear and then flat coated it.

I would say it was a fun build, but the decals got tedious.

And I completed my NJ National Guard P-47N. Bit of an oddball the way things are engineered but it got done. I even did a pilot to find out I couldn't get him in after things were built. I should have checked the fit before I got as far as I did.

On Ed's bench, ???
