Thanks Marcus, glad you like the oil wash effects. Once the clear flat goes on I can start on the fading and streaking.
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
BB, sorry I missed your start. You got it, I put you down for the Bismarck and Z-30.
Did you ever recieve the Z-30? And sorry, who makes the Bismarck, Trumpy or Tam?
Steve
Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Edit...moved to correct GB
In the pattern: Scale Shipyard's 1/48 Balao Class Sub! leaning out the list...NOT! Ha, added to it again - Viper MkVii, 1/32 THUD & F-15J plus a weekend madness build!
Mongoose, shouldn't that be in the British ships GB.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
On the bench: Airfix 1/72nd Harrier GR.3/Fujimi 1/72nd Ju 87D-3
Bish Mongoose, shouldn't that be in the British ships GB.
yes it should!
Steve, the Bismarck is by Trumpeter. And I have not received the Z-30 yet.
Little bit of work done to the Bismarck the last few days.
TheMongoose Bish Mongoose, shouldn't that be in the British ships GB. yes it should!
Don't worry mate, its not the first time. In fact i once posted prgress pics in a GB i was not even taking part in.
Came is coming on well BB.
Quick update on my SMS Kronprinz build. Added the decking for the torpedo nets. It was a bit of a challenge for me seeing how tiny the support backets are, not mentioning how thin the PE deck is making it very flimy. Not the best work but once I get the rolled torpedo net in place it will cover the errors.
Marcus
Marcus that looks sweet, love how it's turning out. I wanted to shoot the flat clear on my u Boat but got distracted with another project in the garage with my other hobby, vintage bicycles.
That looks excellent Marcus!
BB, dang it. You should get it soon I'd think. The Bismarck is looking classic
The oil washes and filters are done and were set aside to dry then sealed with clear flat coat. Next will be the deck wires, anchor, flag and any touch ups.
I like that PJ, nice weathering.
Ooo that's nice PJ.
Bish I like that PJ, nice weathering.
Ditto!
Thanks guys, glad you all like how’s she’s turning out. I finally got the wires up using the extra hands thingies from Harbor Freight to hold the EZ Line in place.
Wires were attached with thin CA and the insulators were made using Elmer’s applied with a toothpick. Several applications were needed to build up thickness and after drying were painted bright green.
Need to add a couple of parts and details and she will be completed.
Oh man, that's a lot of hands in there PJ LOL. That is looking awesome!
U 20 is finally done. The flag was made using the included decals placed over aluminum foil after drying the foil was trimmed and folded with some Alene’s glue to secure the halves then mounted on the flag pole with more Alene’s. All weathering was done with artists oils then clear flat coated.
Thanks Steve for hosting this GB and feel free to use any picture for the completed page.
Exceptional job JP! Especially considering the scale and I realy like those limber holes. I wish I had taken the time to drill mine out.
I'll upload your your Uboat badge when I get home.
Thank you for participating in another of my GB's PJ. It's always a pleasure to have you aboard.
Thanks Steve!
After a disasterous holiday modeling season, I'm trying to get back into a modeling groove again. I'll be posting some photos of the PE work I've been trying to do. The first set is of the forward gun postion. I had to shave off the hump that Revell thought was needed around the enplacement. After that was sanding with various grits of sandpaper to get it smooth.
There's more PE that attach the the railing around the gun position that I will add after painting this area, since I want to add aerial recognition stripes.

docidle impressive sanding job! Patience must have been you strong suit to work around those deck fittings without sanding them off as well.

Steve,
Was the deck molded that way or was that a molding defect?
Steve, good to see you back at this, nice work.
Marcus, the kit is molded that way, it was the same on the one i did last year. Don't know why Revell did that, its meant to have a ring on ammunition magazines around the gun position.
PJ, sorry it took some time to get your metal up but here it is if you wanted one.
Gut gemacht! great looking U-boat.

That deck should does look better with the PE mod then that molded lump.
More PE to show. This is starting to catch up with all the PE I've been doing on the 1/200 USS Arizona and a heck of lot smaller!
It's going to be a shame to paint over all this beautiful Brass.
Thanks guys! I agree Marcus, it does look better when all the PE gets put on. You should check out Bish's Schnellboot build log in the Ships forum.
