Well Crap.........  I was closing in, about 95% done with the Spitfire.....And my 2-Year-old niece snuck into my workshop and got into my paint.

OOF!! Well, that's young children and that's life I guess. The decals should clean up with some careful work with a thinner, but the paint work may need to be touched up with a quick light sanding in the trouble spots and some quick spray work here and there with the AB. I think you can save this, call it weathering. Tongue Tied

Hey everyone! Hope everyone is doing well and enjoyed your 4th! As for me, just checking in. It has been far too long. My model building has been set on the back burner as I have been a very busy person the last month or two. Between work and life, things have just been crazy!  Then to add more on top of that I listed my home for sale and currently under contract for our dream house! It has all been very excited, but also very stressful.

As far as modeling goes, the NC sits at about 95% completetion, the Bismarck hasnt been touhed since I finished up painting the hull, and I did start on the SS german destroyer. Got a good jump on her hull. But i have since packed all of my model stuff up for the move.

Good news is that I will no longer have to model on the small table in my kitchen. My new house will have a dedicated room for all my modeling shenanigans and other hobbies. So once we are settled in to the new house, I will hopefully have my new modeling room and everything set up. Hopfully by September I can start things back up!

I agree DS, not a disaster. Like BK said, once you get the best you can done, call it weathering. I truly find my best weathering FX come with me trying to fix a boo boo. Walking up to a actual working plane, there all kinds of scratches, dents, old and new paint ETC. Makes me wonder why we work so hard getting tem just right.

BB, good the hear from you again! Don't worry about it brother, BK went through the same thing....life happens. Even if you can't finish by December, I'm sure your SS will understand. Moving takes quite a lot of time and energy. Plus there's the summer activities, especially since we were all jipped of last year.

DiscoStu - needs a story.  Oil cooler was hit during combat and barley made it back to base!

I had a model rocket that I had finished.  I was very happy with my finish.  My brother, wife and 2 little ones came to visit and one of my neices slept in my room in her play pen.  Woke up the first morning to finder her teething on the fins.  Had that one around with the tooth marks for years as it made me smilel...later.

Thanks,

John

That's the right approach!  I bet it even flew better with the teeth marks.

First WIP for the Me 262 night fighter

The cockpit. Not much to see and once installed there will be even less to see Smile

And the machineguns. The barrels are well aligned but on a photo one looks a bit off. I guess its due to the camera angle

Looking good. Its a shame that so many cockpits get done up super nice and only disappear once closed up. I guess thats what pics are for.

castenuovo that interior's looking nice. You better think about a small led so we can all see it once you hide it lol

I'm working on all the components and getting the tank crew situated. Just a few nits before i can glue it all together and start priming! This crew my SS included is really going to set this apart. So much so I'm bidding on a Verlinden building to create a small vinette.

In the pattern: Scale Shipyard's 1/48 Balao Class Sub! leaning out the list...NOT! Ha, added to it again - Viper MkVii, 1/32 THUD & F-15J plus a weekend madness build!

That is gonna be a really nice build. Even without paint it looks very convincing already. I am looking forward to watching this one.

Hello! If it's any help, you might be able to save the canopy with the srcaping of a wood toothpick. I've scraped paint off my canopy today that way.

This looks like a great GB to join. :)

Hey guys need some help on my tank. How do you go about painting these vinyl type tracks that come in the Tamiya kits? They're kind of a metallic grey color to start with.

BK and MC usually open signups around the first of November, and match Santa's and giftees at Thanksgiving.

I start by washing them in good ole fashioned soap and water. I then prime them and begin painting with various layers of color like rust, black, earth tones in a mottled pattern. I then seal and weather with pigments and silver for the dirty and worn effect. I have had no issues once they are primed to working them up just like any other kit parts. Good luck.

Yeah, KJV, be good to have you.

Like GH said, BrandonK, who is typically the Santa and I'm just standing in this year, will start a thread in November and names drawn on Thanksgiving day. It's a blast to give. I usually get mine down early but the Akagi slowed everything down this year. I'll get back to it very soon.

ok sounds good BK. I'll give it a try and post some results. Probably won't be till the wee Tho.

Heres my progress so far... I won the verlinden look alike building fascade! Found a wood base and laid out a potential shape. It's still in the bubble wrap, sorry about that but I'm afraid I'll break theplaster if i take it all oit while I'm just messing around with it for ideas.

i thought angling the last piece of the wall and making it into a corner looked a little better. That puts the muzzle through the broken window area. Any thoughts on the layout?

Could also put that section in line with the rest, bring the tank forward and turn the turret to put barrel in the window.  Sculpt some rubble and wood to look like the missing section of that wall.

Maybe put the lean to and chimney on the front And move building back to edge.  Might give a little more room for groundwork.

Hey guys let me know your thoughts on these two layouts...

i think i like the 3rd one a little more.  Seems more balanced.  The 2nd one is next up. Let me know what you think.

The third one looks funny due to the dude sitting on the fender all funny like. The second one works better and I would consider turning the standing officer around as if he were addressing his crew. Gives the scene some movement or interaction rather than static figures looking off into the distance at nothing in different directions. But, remember, this is your build, do what YOU want to do.

lol don't worry about me BK I wouldn't ask if I didn't want to hear some opinions Stick out tongue Hell I would have rationalized why they were all looking in random directions if I'd gotten to paint. Now i can break those heds loose and get them looking at the officer. Before i had a different scene but goldhammer's thought about setting up the building so i had room for rubble from the window appealed to me more. Setting up abunch of people is all new so you guys throw out any ideas you have. I won't be finalizing anything for a few days. Need to let the paint dry on the tank and then do the camo pattern. I had the right colors in vallejo model color so extra drying time for these. Also picked up a circle template today so i could do the road wheels and that really kicked off the painting mode!

Here we are so far. The fuselage and everything in it went together perfectly. The wings however put up a major fight. Trim here, trim there, trim some more and the darn thing wouldn't fit. So trim and trim some more and in it went. Not perfectly but well enough.
