Slowly plodding one, am committed  to finishing up the Bass Master before starting anything else.  Most of the external stowage is in place and all decals are applied:

Not much left, just a couple pick handles and an axe to affix, place the antennae, and the telescope unit, and the .50.  I also need to repaint the dust cover, the speckled black and tan square thing.  Installing this vinyl piece was a real bear, and it shattered the original paint job.

Fingers crossed on getting it sealed, washed, and finished this weekend

Glamdring that's a nice piece of work! Paint sure does look nice on it. Can't wait to see the finished product.

In the pattern: Scale Shipyard's 1/48 Balao Class Sub! leaning out the list...NOT! Ha, added to it again - Viper MkVii, 1/32 THUD & F-15J plus a weekend madness build!

Nice progress Glam.  I'm in the same boat - refuse to start anything before finishing the beautiful A380 kit my SS got me last year.  I've been doing quite a bit of sanding and polishing as you could imagine given the size of this thing - still have a ways to go, but just about ready for paint on the wings and horizontal stabs.

I started test fitting the belly pan which was something I was dreading as I'm not a fan of this type of engineering.  I was quite please to see it's mostly workable as is requiring a bit of trimming/sanding on the aft portion.

Thanks,

John

Making progress fitting the belly pan but before buttoning her up I need to address mounting to the stand I got for her.

Measured the posts and drilled holes in a block of wood and epoxied to the inside of the belly pan.

After drying, I drilled through the plastic

Test fit...

And finally mockup with the belly pan taped into position - I believe this will work!

I just need to make sure I secure that belly pan really well.

Thanks,

John

Good Heavens John, that is a project and a half!  Looks like it is turning out great though!

Thanks for the support on my build all!  The end is almost at hand.

We are in it together.  The Tardy Boys.
what is the story of Bass Master?  I know the context just not in a tank respect.

Thanks,

John

I'm not entirely sure of the meaning behind the name, but the unit it was attached to was apparently Battery B of 1-82nd Artillery, 1st Cavalry Division.

The commander must have been an avid fisherman.

I can finally call the Paladin complete!  Just a quick taste to whet the whistle before I get a proper shot in the in the photo booth:

My only regret is that I don't have any straight wire to add the two aerials, as I have never had luck with stretching sprue.  Maybe some day if I find the right gauge I will add them on.

Glam,

Looks great.  As to thin wire take a look at some speaker wire.  Or even a strand of 18ga automotive wire.

This is awesome. I have one in the stash that I hope to build sooner than later. As far as ariels go you can use the bristols from large brooms. They actually work very well and look the part.

Did you want to go with that pic Glam or did you want to take it on a clean background?

Thanks guys for the suggestions on antenna materials, I'll look into them.

I have more satisfactory shots to go up on the wall now.  I would say to go with either side view:

This kit was a lot of fun to build, thanks go to Santa and all of you for following along with my progress.

A bit more progress.  The decals are really nice.  I need to clearcoat the wings and horizontal stablizers, paint their leading edges and then its just decals.   I like the Revell paints.

Thanks,

John
