Some progress on the gun platform. Got some more detailing and weathering to do in here but had to post a pic to let you all know that I'm still progressing with this build. I'll be stepping away from the bench because our family is going on vacation so there wont be any updates for the next week.

Thats a fun kit I have two one built and one in the stash. the decals typical tamiya . Your build looks real good . My f-104 experiment thanks, will see if the me-104 goes nmf or gray/green ? Enjoy vac time.

Looks great Bobby. Sure is different from the usual Komet schemes. The red is super glossy smooth, like automotive quality. What paint did you use?

Actually it is just regular Tamiya Flat Red (XF-7), but I put 4-5 coats of Krylon Colormaster Gloss Crystal Clear on it.  LOL!  I ran out of the Testors clear coat I usually use and grabbed this at Wal-MArt hoping it would work.  I tested it on a couple of old models and it turned out pretty good.

Believe it or not, I did not!  I just stood off a bit more then usual knowing it was going to come out like a fire hose!   LOL!  Thus the 4-5 coats.  And I waitied a full 24 hours between coats.

Thank you sir.  I'm glad Bish mentioned the scheme and I ran with it.  I have two 1/32 Me-163's....thinking one of them might just be the big brother to this one someday.  LOL!

my latest pics on the 104c after gloss black primer, sprayed A/V metal color aluminum over all next some pannels. I still fitting wheel well for 104G.

That finish looks great Nick!  What scheme are you going with on this?

Thanks Joe, the f-104c is usaf in bare metal. The 104g is probably going to be camo dark gray/olive green/light gray so far.

I thought this is an interesting installation for the nose guns. This is the Hasegawa Bf 109F-4 Trop. The guns are attached then the cowl is installed over them. Never saw that before.

Frank your 109 is shaping up.

I have just about all the decals applied on my Kurfürst, lots of tiny ones. Once all  the decals are on, a Flory wash will be applied to pop the recessed details and begin the weathering stage.  I will have some pictures up soon.

Bish I'd like to join with Eduard's Bf-109E-1 (1:48). I have a couple of overtrees waiting to be built.

Zveda1980, I've been thinking about those Eduard Overtrees for kits I'd like to build. I see that you have a P.E. fret and a canopy mask, as well as the kit sprue. Is that everything that came in the box? Assembly instructions are easy enough to get from Scalemates, so the build wouldn' be any different than any other kit.

Well, Crown, I cut the guns off while I could still get to them. I'll re-install them from the outside after the airplane is painted.

This is where I'm at so far. Used Flory dark grime wash to darken the recessed details to start the weathering process. 

The engine needs some touch ups 

The cowl door interior and other parts were painted RLM02 and given an oil paint wash to grime up the areas. More weathering to follow.
