Bish: Ohhhhhh, very cool! I really like that CMK interior.

Nick: Thanks! Got some of the decals on, she's coming along, slowly, but coming along.

Well, I'm at a bit of a roadblock. First time I've used Ventura decals. And the sheet is a little old. They came off the sheet without problems and applied without any issues. But I got these weird black marks on the white areas. They look almost like fingerprints. I at first assumed I had some black paint or ink on my fingers and it had transfered my fingerprints over to the decals. So the next set I washed my hands very well and I still got the marks. Then I used a paint brush and didn't touch the decals at all- still marks.

Just very weird, I'm not sure what's going on. I picked up a sheet of white trim from Microscale and I'm going to seal the model with a coat of gloss and then cut and apply pieces of trim decal over the white areas with the black marks. Cross your fingers- this SHOULD take care of the problem.

Wimpy is starting to come together. Didn't do much with the interior. This mark does not have the fuselage windows so it's just a black hole

That is odd Cliff. I never ran into that issue before.

Nice start TJ. Theres no reason to work on something that'll never been seen. Although I do that all the time.

One thing about this Wimpy kit is that there is nothing to represent the lattice work behind the windows. So i used some thin styrene rod painted aluminium. This took a few nights getting it all fitted. I had to sand down the edges of the bulkhead for it to fit.

The fuselage went together pretty well considering its an MPM kit (i've had worse) and with the lattice work added. Though one small section did come away and its now wedged between the blkhead and window.

The resin tail pieces fitted well.

The PE flaps were a different matter. Instructions say the ribs are to be 2mm apart and i excepted that. There are 30 on each wing, but it wasn't until i fitted 27 on the first that i realised the remaining 3 would not fill the gap. So i worked it out and it should have been clser to 2.5mm between each rib. So once i removed the 27 ribbs, and straighted out the bent ones, i got them fitted as they should have been.

I'm now working on the rather intricate resin engines.

TJ & Bish: Love those guys!!! And great work on adding the latticework in there Bish.

I've got the Spit gloss coated again. So I'm going to layer over the decals with some white trim decal this week, cross your fingers!

Finally got an update. I was able to get the engines together. These are little kits by themselves. Each of the pistons along with all the pipe work are seperate parts, took a god couple of days to get these done.

And got the aircraft painted. Once again the Montex masks have proved a pain with quite a few panels lifting. I am expecting to have to clean paint off clear part.

All paints are Xtracolor.

Now to get the decals added.

BTW: If you're in the States and get Amazon Prime they're running 'Battle of Britain'. First time I've seen it and pretty darn fine movie. Although it makes you think the only bomber the Luftwaffe had was the He-111!

Bish, I had to take some time off modeling to get other thing done around the house. I have also been reorganizing, or should I say organizing my studio (spare room). The room is an absolute mess with paint everywhere, tools and supplies all over and a stash of unopened model kits that I tell myself I will get too some day.

I ordered enough paint racks to store about 200 bottles of Vallejo and Tamiya paint and plan to add several shelves on two walls before I start my Supermarine Spitfires. When I finish the Spitfires (one British and one Australian) I have a 1/48 HK Avro Lancaster to build. I think the rest of 2021 will be dedicated to fixed wing air craft and learning how to paint camouflage.

Good to see you back harold, nice your able to get organised. A few years ago when i was moving from the dining room to the now spare bedroom, i took a whole week off work just to get it decorated and all the shelving put in place. Look forward to seeing those builds, that lanc should be a whopper.

I've been a bit slow myself the last couple of weeks. But the Wimpy is coming along, just getting the ground equipment sorted and then will give everythign a flat coat.

Its just lucky the Spanish had a few 111's and 109's to lend for the movie. Makes me think of the scene where the young lads are stood on the bank of the Thames arguing about whether the planes are Heinkels or Messerchmitts.

They did have some Stuka RC models.

I love that movie and watch it yearly as well as Sink the Bismarck. Another well done and mostly accurate (as they could make it) movie.

Great job there TJ! I love the ribbing on the wings, really nice detail there.

No complaints about the movie, just seemed funny to me. It's waaaaay better than the original 'Midway' with the endless stock footage. It did kinda annoy me with the constant harping on how great that unnamed RAF fighter was while ignoring the awesome Hurricane. I can start to see your issues with that aircraft Bish.

I do like that movie and its in my collection. Given the lack of knowledge at the time about the role of Bletchly park, i think they made a good job of it. I think the only real complaint is the portrayal of Lutjens as a hard core National Socialist.

While those 1950's British war movies do have a touch of Properganda about them (one would think they were made during the war rather a decade or more later) they are still good movies and i would imagine its what the country needed in those post war years. I do need to add the Cruel Sea and Dambusters (prefrably a none PC version) to my collection.
