I'm coming along on the M-ATV. Nice kit! Super pleased with it. I received several figures and additions for the dio and will be starting on that as soon as I'm done with the turret.

This looks super. Very inspiring and now I just have to have one

Steve - That looks just like it came off an Oshkosh brochure!  Really digging it.

Castelnuovo - That has flown together!  Can't wait to see it camo'd and decaled.  

As for my own Abrams on hiatus, I am delighted to report winter has broken and I hope to get it sprayed this week.  Wednesday is looking like the best chance, sunny and a high of 64.

The extensive resin bonus my SS sent me was calling my name so let's kick it off with Tamiya's 1/72 BF109-G6! Started with the basic cockpit. This quickboost seat has alot of detail for this scale. Unreal in my opinion. The IP is pretty hidden so the kit decals is what I plan to use. Assembly is relatively quick. Just a little surgery to graft the seat in.

With the cockpit and side walls ready for primer I decided to work on the wings. Just too late to hook up the vent on the paintbooth and bother the family with the compressor and fan running. Those wingtips looked like some slow, steady, don't rush it time needed invested to make them look good. About 30 minutes to fit them up without a gap.

Depending how everything Else goes maybe I'll be ready for Regionals up in Dayton. I've got till the 24th to pull it together And this resin will set the build apart i think. Will do my best!

 

 

With price of kits getting so high, I may have to start collecting 1.72 kits as well.

Weather cooperated, and paint has been applied to the Abrams.  Not that it looked that much different from the plastic itself.

Roadwheels are done and installed.  Next up is decals, the commander's MG, and the rubber bands.  Half of it is covered my the sideskirts, so I won't sweat them too much

I also bought the Legend M1 stowage set to add some life to it.  The tankers need some gear after all!

My last thought on the build is to figure out how to scratchbuild, or find something in scale  similar to, a 1/35 coffee can.  The Abrams commander who gave a lecture on his Desert Storm experience said that it was common for the tanks to put a coffee can over the ID light (the post at the back of the turret) because the light would heat up the can and would show up better on IR.

I'm off to a good start on my Bf-109 G6, the Tamiya 1/72 scale as you may recall...with tons of extras! iPad pics are unfortunately a little grainy, will have to remedy that on the next round of updates. 
fuselage is together 

needed a little perfect plastic putty to clean up the resin fit in a few places. Should hide well under primer. The guns pop nicely from the resin! Way better than stock Plastic.

the seats a great add, especially for the seatbelts molded in. This will need a little wash, and up close maybe a touchup to give the belts a more realistic look. Will get clear pic once i do that

and lastly the IP...which i see i forgot to add the clear bezels to lol will have to do that. Glad i caught it before adding the windscreen and canopy!

hopefully i'll get thru assembly this week and can do some painting over the weekend.

Gracias BK, kind words for sure 

got into some detail work tonight. Sprayed the seams and then did some sanding

Cowling needed some sanding to blend well. The spine was perfect so no work there other than to put the anel lines back in before the official primer coat

then got the magnifier out and worked on the belts. A flat and some silver details has it looking much better

that silver takes a steady hand and afine brush...

fortunately I have something for both

ahhh kindred spirits! Haha get it 

slowed down a little tonight. My 5 minute primer job turned into 20. must have been lack of spirits to relax. 1st i dropped it in the paint booth and the wing tip broke off. Ok, fixed that. THEN when i hit the tail with some primer the resin stab blew off! had to laugh at this point! Geez. Must have cracked when i dropped it as it looked like a kite in the wind when the paint hit it 

time to quit for the night 

I find when I rush to get something done for whatever reason I start dropping things and breaking things off I've so carefully tried not to break. This is when I just put it down and come back in a few days and move slower and it all works out.
