Good stuff here for sure

Justin, Mr Surfacer is your friend on this one. Yougot any? Man that looks like alot of gaps. You'll get it though. It's about fun and not the gaps. We just have to keep telling ourselves that to hold off the madness Propeller

i do!  Both 1000 AND 1500.  I might be ok with ignoring many of the seams, except that this will have a NMF finish, and t would drive me nuts! Lol

Tiny I like the fishing weight idea in the tub. Gonna store that one away.

Dobber that toon is cool. One day i'll buy one. Perfect for weekend madness in so many ways!

Brandon bring it home! That cockpit looks sharp.

Steve what can we say. done early and you weathered that baby like she'd seen some service. Nice work on the chipping and the overall paint scheme!

Looks Great Chris! Excellent job on those scallops. It is an interesting plane with a bright paint scheme.

Wow, Steve, incredible finish and quick. Well done!!

I have it all closed up, just need to mask and apply the canopy, clean up and off to paint. Lots of decals on this one that will take a hot minute. Hope I can do this one in time.

My final day one update.  It has been 24 hours since I've began, and this kit is not treating me in a very friendly way!  I am way behind schedule.  I wanted to have this wearing its primer pj's in the dehydrator last night before I enst to bed, but instead, 'Big Chief' needed that time to help dry/cure the Sprue Goo filler.

I am beginning this morning with sanding.  lots and lots of sanding.  This one is really testing my "Basic Modeling Skills"....lol

Some great looking builds here, can't wait till i get a chance to read thru them Wink

up at 6 this morning and into the paint booth. I managed to get her wrapped in Mr Surfacer last night around 1230. What a saving grace that is in a spray can!

All in white primer at 630

Primer and the first layer of paint are done. Not sure what direction I am going to take this. But I am really enjoying this build.

A bit more progress on my Airfix JS III tank. I like them to be a little heavy, so that they sit better on the tracks.

It's basically built now, and moving into the painting phase.

Cheers

OK boys, I'm done, just before 30 hours.

This is what it looked like before leaving it to dry today.

And completed.

Thanks Bill for hosting this for Buddy. He would be happy to see how many participants there are.

Here goes my contribution.  I'm going with an Airfix IL-2 in 1/72.  Looks pretty straightforward.

Oh snap, could this be the 1st one I don't finish? Stick around for 18 more hours and see haha Wink

my compulsion to make it look at least semi clean keep rearing it's ugly head and then the logic says hey lets close up that gap too. Must resist...

gotta finish by noon tomorrow. Fortunately the wife is working late and i have lots of turkey leftovers for a quick dinner. Bonus, my MCW lacquers are all gloss paint so I can go straight to decals!

It is now coming on 3 pm. I have some stuff glued and painted. Tossed in the dryer for few hours and I'll detail the cockpit and hopefully close it up tonight.

Two hoursin, here is my first update!

while this is a simple kit, there is A LOT of clean up, with misaligned molds and flash, and all on some flat out TINY parts!

I have also been bringing this adventure to the facebook on my modeling page, Ryan's Random Modelwerks, and using the hashtag #weekendslammerbuild, so if you are on the facebook and Instagram, post your stuff with that hashtag so everyone can see!!!

Okay...here we go!!!

Building began for me at 7:25 AM Friday morning, EST!

Amp's Victory 357 Hawk has begun...

and, the What if- aspect of my build:

assoon as I first saw this kit, I envisioned a dieselpunk-esq Santa Fe 'Big Chief' Livery on this thing, so....lets see if I can negotiate this!

It seems like a fairly simple kit, with only a few sprues to work from.

Oh man Tony, that's some work.

Chris good luck, especially on the paint scheme.

OK, I started this morning at 9:01.

I love these double kits. I think I'll build the left one.

Typical aircraft build, starting with the cockpit.

While the paint was drying I sprayed Alclad for a base for chipping.

I've had my Alclad for a few years, what is it's shelf life? This is what happed after spraying it. Has anyone seen this before? It started crating webs. Easy to remove but odd.

Now 10:00 and have the fuse together.

11:00 and I have the canopy masked, on and silver touched up.

After I completed that we went to family for Thanksgiving. We returned around 9:30 pm and I installed the engine and sprayed chipping fluid. Now I have time to catch up the pictures. Tomorrow comes the camo, decals and hopefully finish.

Hey I know what that is Geeked !

Your paint is drying in the air, before it hits The model. In your case most likely due to the thinners that are in the paint for spraying evaporating over time. My solution is to add mr color leveling thinner to the paint, then respray. Usually about 25% at this point but experiment a little to find out what you need. It goes away right off the bat so it'll be easy to tell. Brush the dusty dry paint off first of course. for me it usually brushes right off. If you don't have that but have another thinner of your choice give it a try.

Tony that looks like some nasty pin marks on the barrel. Nice job cleaning THAT up!

After about 90 minutes, I've cleaned up the ejection pin marks and part numbers from the hull side pieces, cleaned up and drilled out the main gun and built the turret.

Cheers

Bill it's awesome you're keeping this going! I'm in with 2 builds this year :-)

No leftovers for me though...I always chose something small, like a 1/144 Revell Bakurat.

This year a GeeBee Racer and a Sea Flanker. Challenges for sure I think...the GeeBee because this kit is flash central, definitely old molds.

This weekend I'm planning to start the GeeBee Racer. Open to opinions on the kit red and white of Doolitle or going with the alternate black and yellow Victory Girl?
