Issue to Resolve!!!!!

Sign - Dots [#dots] Excuse me Gentlemen

Seeing I organised this Group Build, I might aswell stand up and account for all others who are in this group build and all those who wish to join. I am not taking sides in this issue, but . . .

03Cobra - I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you are new to the forum and may have not been aware of the Group Build "norms" and the unofficial "manners" of posting texts & pics.

**Generally, if you want to join any Group Build you can ask or nominate yourself (cos quite frankly, no-one will say no if you stick to the group build theme).
**Secondly, the "general" posting of model pics (that are not part of a group build) should be posted in a separate post (cos group builds are modellers sharing a common interest in building a particular subject together, and the 'crashing in' of others is considered inappropriate in the atmosphere and good-nature of this project) [sounds like I've been watching too much Olympics].
**If in your orginal post, for example, you said:
"hey guys, I would like to join . . . and here is some of my past projects!"
that would not be 'mis-interpretated' by others as spaming.
**When communicating across the medium of the internet, there is a very fine line between understanding & mis-interpretating.

I have no problems if you want to join our Group Build. The "rules" are in Post 1 on Page 1 of this thread. But basically all you have to do is Nominate a Racing Car, tell us what model it is, and you can start group building.

As you are new, the FSM community & staff like to keep our forum friendly, and all of us here don't view any unfriendly comments as a good thing. We want to have a welcoming and friendly place for all.

I will now get off my SoapBox [soapbox] and hope we can all sort this out like professional modellers and grown-up mature men.

I've had to do the future thing on my windows, too. I use polishing cloths like the ones for polishing out the paint finishes. Start w/3200 and go on down to the 10,000 grit. You'll see the clearness improve with each grit.

After that, I'll pour up a bowl of Future and drop the part right in. You don't have to connect it to anything like a parts tree. Let it sit a few seconds, take fine pointed tweezers and grab the part by the corner and pull it out. Place it on a paper towel standing up against something like a paint can or cup. Just set the edge of it against the towel and the paint can.

Future will drain off into the paper towel and it'll flow into where you grabbed it with the tweezers, leaving you w/a brand new window.

I should also mention that my own building hasn't been without problems! The Ferrari interior and chassis has ben completed but I notice that the top coat paint applied some weeks ago to the body has crazed in several places. So instead of putting it all together as planned it was back to sanding off the paint and starting over. So instead of a model on its wheels ready for decalling and finishing I have an undercoated body ready for its top coat and a chassis ready for mating!

Both these compounds are quite light. Depending upon the depth of the scratchs you may need to hit it with something with a bit more bite first, try a low grade wet and dry first then move to the Tamiya compound to finish off and remove the marks from the wet and dry. Its takes time and looks awful to start with but will come out given enough "elbow grease"

Too bad I cut the Windows off the mold tree.
How would you go about this project? I have to mount the window on something so that I could dip it and then it has to be placed on something while it hardens. Haven't done this before so any hints are welcome.

Awesome Opel, SeaBee! Don't be so hard on yourself. You've about convinced me to try building one. It'd be a nice contrast to the Nascar stockers I have.

SeaBee, I think the model looks great too. What ever the small mistakes are must be too small to see. Good Job!!!

Thanks nicholma, but there's a few small mistakes, nothing major. And the fact that my one door was broken off (for my, not by me...) really frustrated me more than anything else. I was quite chuffed with it up till then.

But really, can recommend this model to anyone! It is a great one to build. And if you're a little worried about the white and yellow painting, get the all-orange one! Not that it was that hard a bit of masking...

Anyways, now off to enjoy my long weekend! Hopefully I'll be getting a bit of a move on with the Max Honda and think about what car will be "victimised" next... Decisions, decisions! Wink [;)]

And today I found a nice dutch company that'll send me two new needles pronto. Sometimes you're in luck. But I'm not sick anymore though...

Restarted the gravelshields yesterday as the milliput arrived, could be crap but worth a try atleast. Drilled holes in the body for attaching rivets and touched up some parts that got a crappy paintjob with the defect airbrush needle.
Seems a bit slow to get done til december...will not rush this build though...

Hi guys... Better late than never. At last submitting pics. Not my best model thusfar, but then again my wife says I'm too perfectionistic. Not very happy, but having started this, I have to share it...

3 shots: front, rear and side...

At least it wasn't the worst thing to decal - and I had fun doing the model. Just screwed up too much...

Good to see that everyone else is a bit 'slow' too (except for Glenn!! nice work on the dalmation car!!)... About the only progress I can give you on my C5-R Corvette is below:

Murray

Not sure if I posted this pic before, but I'm re-doing some of the little cannisters and stuff on the frame with scratch aluminum and brass. Easy changes that hopefully will look much better on the end product.

Also removing the molded in seatbelts. Hard to tell in this pic, but the belts on the left side of the pic have been removed. What a pain? Anyone have any good tips for how to sand/cut in a spot like this??

bah...bent the needle on my airbrush this morning....of coarse it's a pretty unusual brand and seems to take some time to get spare parts....
Now that I'm sick and home from work and all Cool [8D]

We'll se how it all ends.

Wow things are really starting to pick up! Lots of excellent cars.

Slow progress here unfortunately. We're decorating a bedroom, which means all that room's contents are now in the hobby room. Combined the very warm weather recently, it's not a pleasant place to work in at the moment Disapprove [V]

However, on the upside, I just bought a new Canon digital camera, so I should be able to post better pics once I get started again on the Lancia!

Hi guys!
Just packed up some modeling stuff and heading for the summer house tomorrow on vacation for three weeks Cool [8D] Will try to work on the DTM Mercedes there, still haven't decided what to do with the GTR Mercedes yet. I think it needs stripping and repainting, I'll let it rest for a while and then we'll see what to do.
I packed some other things to play with as well, RC-buggy, RC-sail boat, paint and stuff to finish a RC-power boat, my AMT 1960 Ford Starliner that needs paint on the roof and some bare metal foil to finish of the body work, a Ducati 916, at least the body panels to finish the paint work on. So I think I will manage to survive the trip away from the work bench Big Smile [:D]

Have a nice summer!

nicholma,

I live in melbourne, the weather was nice over the weekend. managed to get the body shell of the nissian sprayed. turned out alright. the shell of the williams is giving me plenty of greive. tried again but stillnot happy with the result. Have came to the conclusion the trying spray hite is near on impossiable. well hopefully get some of the decals on the nissian tonight and it will be closer to completion.

So where do you live Trev? I have a similar problem but we're lucky to reach 12 degrees at present and I'm away 3 nights a week so I have to fight thru curtains of cobwebs on the occassional weekend day I can escape to "my" room! I have a GT40 that only needs the wheels and decalling to complete but its been like that for about 4 weeks now - maybe this weekend??

Still alive here! Had a change of work and been at the new work for two weeks now.
Having been used to a 5 minute drive to work, I am now "robbed" of almost 2 hours of free time daily, travelling to another town!

All of which is not good for progress... Anyways, I have basically finished building on Tuesday. Now decalling - after having calmed down.

Let me explain. The biggest "feature" of the Astra model is the "gull-wing" doors. Having done that and settled the body Tuesday morning, I left for work. Only to find one door completely ripped off and one semi-detached upon return! (It was the cleaning lady's day in...) With the body allready on the chassis there is practically no way to redo the whole thing.

So now I'll have to make do with one fixed, but not very well, door and one which opens by means of removal. Makes seeing the inside a bit easier! (Hey, it was just an accident and you've got to see the brighter side of things!)

Anyways, might complete the decalling this weekend. Will post a pic or two. Must say, thusfar I'm really impressed with that decal sheet Tamiya provided.

So good to hear that you are doing well. I am sorry to hear about it but I have been away from the fourms for about a week now. Progress on my builds have come to a complete stop right now for I was working on the next two builds on my list and I got some bad paint that melted the body work on both. Disapprove [V] For they are both the same car with different decals. So I am going to have to go tomarrow to Hobby Lobby and hit them up on the half price sale and start all over again with these two builds. Smile [:)]Smile [:)]

Thanks for the well-wishes guys. Recovery is painful, but not painful enough to keep me away from the forums!!
