Hey stram, I feel for you, I did the same thing with the Revell 1/32 Corsair, man was that a POS. I wish I just spent the extra $$$ and got the Trumpeter. Those kits will make a good projects for family fun night, where I throw a couple of layers of newspaper on the kitchen table, and me and the kids all grab parts, glue them together, and by bedtime have a plane ready to hang from the ceiling.Big Smile [:D]

Vintage Aircraft,

Count me in. I've just started a Martin MB-2 in 1/74 scale (Glencoe kit). This is the plane that Billy Mitchell used to show how aircraft could sink battleships. :D It was the premier heavy bomber of its day, 1921 or so.

Regards,

-Drew

Hey maby you could still build it. Just for old times sake. But with your better model skills now you could add a compleatly scratch built interior and bring it up to Tamiya standards?

I was disappointed really. I was hoping that it was the kit i built when i was younger. Then it would have been worth it just because of the nostalgia. But the one I built so many years ago didn't have a bomb bay like this one does. oh well I have just about talked myself into the academy version though so i will keep you posted.

Go for the Academy kit I headr it is a nice one, I personally want to Build the C/D version in 1/72 from Academy but I just havent found the time to buy one. But anyways I told you so, that is pritty much what all Revell kits from that era are like. Ill update your build list.

Got some terrible news and a possible set back. As I said before I was given a 1/72 Revell B-17F and I was gonna build it along with my 1/72 Hasegawa B-17G. Anyway the Revell finally came in the mail and it is as bad a kit as what I was told by Vintage Aircraft. The kit seems horrible.Angry [:(!] It is terrible. Anyway I can't decide if I should try and build it for the group build anyway or just go ahead and order the 1/72 Academy Memphis Belle. I am in for at least one B-17 though.

Just doing the finishing touches on the nose art for "Mystical Adventure". A B-25 of the 310th BG. Other than a real faded B&W pic, all I had was a sketch drawn by the crew cheif of this plane of what the nose art looked like. I thought better just to hand paint it on then photoshop it. I will be taking pics tonight.

Model upfate on the 1/48 B-24D Lady Be Good, and the 1/48 B-29.

B-24D The Lady Be Good

So far I have the ripped off #4 engine compleated, but only through hours of reaserch, and I think i probobly have the most accurate engine for a B-24 around, besides the real thingBig Smile [:D], the left wing looking from the front ha been compleated with the exception of the propeler on it, thats off untlll the last stage, and I have cut the fusalage apart at the correct areas, and now all I have to do is nealy scratch build the entire interior for the rear half of the bomber, due to the fact mongoram only provids a very basic interior.Dead [xx(]Banged Head [banghead]

B-29

The cockpit has been built, with all the equipment ripped out and all the wirs and such hanging out of the back of the instrument panals and the places where stuff should be and isnt anymore. I now have to weather it and add small little details to it.

Oh and the reason this is all done is because I started work on them about 2 weeks before we started this buildBig Smile [:D]

Hope everyones build(s) are going as good as mine are.Wink [;)]

Well, it carried bombs & depth charges & "bombed" U-Boats, and is officially typed as a "Long Range Maritime Patrol Bomber" -- consider it as much a "bomber" as the PBY Catalina I see someone is going to build.

But, like I said, it could be a stretch (as would be the PBY) & I can do a B25 ....

Sounds like shrikes really wants an excuse to buy a new model Wink [;)]

The TB-3 was a rather ungainly looking thing-- but was used early on in WWII by the Soviets to the delight of the Luftwaffe who picked them off gleefully. Later-- they were put into a Zveno role where a TB-3 had a few I-16 Rata fighters latched on underneath that would drop down with huge bombs and attack German targets....

The TB-3 is a heavy bomber built by Tupolev - late 20'2 - early 30's - loaned to the Chinese to drop leaflets on the Japanese. It is to 1:72 scale. The Halifax is also 1:72 - still waiting news of the 1:48 - rumoured to be on its' way. The one I am doing is of the aircraft in which an Unlce was killed over Essen in 1942. Shall I email you the Box top picture of the TB-3?

Hi Vintage...

Please sign me up.
If you consider the Short Sunderland a bomber, then I'll do that -- it's a stretch, so I won't be upset if you say no.
Otherwise, I have the AM B25B & B25C/D kits, and will do one of them depending on checking on my notes, decals, extras, etc.

Let me know (& no I can't do both or all !!), Thanks,

Hey if you want to join be our guest, it sounds like a very interesting model, the TB-3, I dont belive I am familiar with that aircraft, is it of more modern era, or is it around the Korean to Veitname era, or is it WW2 era. Also what scale is it, the Halifax too, kinda hopeing the Halifax is a 1/48, that would be so cool to see.

Oh who knows how to get inages on here, I think I came up with a good patch design for this group.

May I also join in this one - it may be a Halifax B1MkII - or provided the motivation works the ICM kit of the TB- 3 - a very unusual kit - makes quite a change - largely follows scratch built system with fuselage formers - ribs and spars etc,!!! Looks extremely agricultural - and because of the corregated skin there is no opportunity for filling with "putty" and sanding down. It will be best viewed from a scale distance of 500m or thereabouts!

Hey Im putting everyone down right now ok, it may take a minent or two. Ok it is done, oh and Knight take a look at the very first post in this topic, it has everything there, except for the Patch thing to say we did this, I dont know how to do that so if two people could take that up, so we could see two different designs and vote on them, it would be greatly appreciated.

Oh Im going to get my 1/48 B-24D, The Lady Be Good, and my 1/48 B-29 done early because I have two competitions in october that I have to get them ready for, but my B-25G, other B-24D, and my B-17G/F (not shure what version ill make it yet) will be compleated as scheduled.
