V.A.

Regrets, but I am dropping out of this GB -- it is end of July & I haven't done anything & just can't get interested in the B25 right now. I've got several major mil-vehicle things going that are consuming my time. The only aircraft even near (but not yet on) my workbench (Sunderland & Felixstowe flying boats) don't fit the category.

I'll just be content to lurk & wait for the finishes !!!

Thanks for your effort,
John

ewc2003-Um I would let you in but the awhile ago we all agreed here that attack aircraft, and light bombers were not part of the group build criteria so I can not allow the A-20 in, and also we agreed that the A-20 was not allowed. Sorry about that, it was an almost unanimous vote.

frostygirl-I think that you shhould go with wire, but if you can find it in a small enough diamiter go with stryeen rod.

shrikes & scottc:
i have 2 minicraft B-17G kits, the 1st one has markings 4
'ole doodlebug' & the 2nd one has the markings 4
'bit o' lace'... haven't opened up the 2nd kit but i'll bet it's
the exact same kit w/ different decals.
not likely i'll find a cheyenne tail turret in there, LOL !
got the Warbirds Modeling issue that features a 1/48
version of 'bit o' lace' complete w/ mismatched wings,
OD rudder, asymmetrical yellow markings on the fuselage near
the tail, etc. so i can use that as a guide when i paint her.
rite now i'm trying 2 decide whether i need tubing 4 mgs
or if styrene rod will do.... in 1/144, that's some pretty small stuff
either way... maybe wire would b a better choice,
anybody have a suggestion ?

Ok, then I'll plan on a 1/72 B17F air tanker, but I'll probably throw in a couple of 1/144 Bombers as regular bombers too, I've been wanting to do a Lancaster for awhile.

I AM BACK!. Sorry about the belated absence, I diddnt have time to update things on monday due to the factI had an unexpected trip to my work place that I had to make. Then On tuesday I went on a little trip to Wisconsin, Iowa, and Minnassota. It was a blast the entire trip was made driving along the Mississippi Rive and it was so betuiful up there. But I got back early Thursday morning and I come home to find out my computer has crashed Banged Head [banghead] (Still cant find out why it did) But I finnaly got it up back and running today at 100%. Also last sunday when I said I was going gliding the cealing was only at 2000 FT and it was a very inactive day for thermals. So I diidnt glide but stayed there for about five hours talking to people. But I went yesterday and it was amazing, I plan to try and get my gliders licence and fly these babies when ever I want.
But now to get down to buisiness and update the list and respond to the posts.

Aaronw-I think that it should be alright, since it was developed as a bomber for its primary role, but used post war as what you stated it should be alright.

Shrikes-Sorry about the Mix up of model number on that B-17 kit ill fix that as soon as I am done writing this post ok.

Jay12472-The 2 1/72 bombers would be great to have, Ill put you and your kits up on the members list.

Blackwolf 3945-Ill put you down for a B-25 in 1/48 scale, and when I update the Monogram build Ill put you down there too, ok.

bobbaily- Ill put you down for the B-26 here as well as the Monogram one ok.

Quagmyer-Ill Email the pics as soon as I can probably after updateing the builds ok.

Oh and Im glad to see some progress reprts on your builds good job.

Oh and one more thing this post will be my 200TH POST SINCE I JOIND FSM!Happy B-Day [bday]

"Bit o Lace" would be one of the most interestng B-17s to build.

Oooo... That seems interesting... Watch out, though. Lace was a hadgepodge of different aircraft so there are parts that are NMF, and others that are Olive Drab... and they differ from the left side and the right side! Sounds interesting, Frosty! Wink [;)]

Hey, V.A.! Just saw this now... I'm actually building the G variant in Natural Metal... You know, I did get another kit, but it was the old Hasegawa B-17F in 1/72... I just can't get enough of these bombers! Wink [;)]

Hey, what're the guildlines for the use of the GB badge? Do we have to complete the model before we but the badge in our sigs?

Well since the end date is Jan 1 I think I'd like to get in on this, but before I choose an aircraft I have a question. It says any era, any country, would this include post military use? I'm building a series of air tankers (fire bombers)which was a second career for many heavy bombers, would such a conversion be within the guidelines for the build assuming the aircraft started life as a medium or heavy bomber?

If not I have several that are well within the guidelines, a Lancaster has been staring at me every time I go to the model shop but I've always liked the B58, then again I've never buit a tri-motor, maybe something Italian, so put me down as a yes I'm in but uncommitted to a particular kit at this time.

Thanks

Based on the group build icon in your signiature rebel, the dimensions are 65 x 65.

Can't use fancy fonts with small letters. Use simple fonts like Arial or better yet, Amarillo USAF or some other stencil font.

Use acronym and abbreviations where possible like the following...
____________
Medium &
Heavy Bomber

<B-24 pic here>

FSMF GB 2004
-----------------------

FSMF = Fine Scale Modeler Forum
GB = Group Build
2004 = duh!

Or maybe go acro-crazy and use M&HB up top.Tongue [:P]

That's my constructive criticism. I think it's perfect other than that.

In fact. Email (quagmyre@speakeasy.net) me the Photoshop file (full size). Graphic design is a hobby of mine. I'll gem it up for ya if you'd like.Wink [;)]

O.K. THis is the patch I designed and altered. But this is as small as I could get it with the words still, barely visible.

If somebody knows how to rezize these thing correctly let me know and i can give you a regular size version to work with.

here is the correct GB patch size. 60 pixels by (i think 79)

The name is not influenced by Family Guy even though I think Seth MacFarland is a comic genius! Funniest show ever on TV. Absolute crime it's not still on TV.

A Quagmyre is a Canadian drink my bartender roomate in undergrad taught me one year. The other Canadian drink he taught me was a Duck Fart. Not a tough choice. You can find the recipes for these rather readily on the Internet.

As for inclusion into the group build, I'll pass... getting a note from each and everyone might be a little much. Besides, I'm really not sure how much time I'm gonna be able to spend on "Emergency Strip". Would like to do some due dilligence on this one and put it in a diorama. Two months of a couple of hours here, a couple of hours a few weeks latter there, ain't gonna get it done. Quality will suffer. Thanks anyway.

Frosty, it was our pleasyre to let you join in on all of the fun.

Quagmyre, did you use that name from Family Guy, or is it just your nameBig Smile [:D], After this build is over I might be starting one up that is similar but the content is different, and you could join that. Now I could move the date back further to acomadate you if that is alright with everyone else becasue I just moved it back so if its alright with everyone else?

rebelreenactor, If you could post that badge it would be great. Now I was thinking there could be three different badges one that represents the vintage bomber, one that represents the Korean war to Vietnam war bomber, and one that represents the present day bomber. Now the time period in which your bomber came from will determin what badge you get. EX: a B-17G would get a vintage badge, a B-52would get the Korean Vietname badge, and a B-2 would get a present day badge. So what do you guys think.?
