Budget Group Build Challenge
Here’s an idea for a group build inspired by forum posts about what can be the high cost of building model kits and those reality home improvement/remodel shows. Pretend you are going to build your very first model kit. You don’t have the kit or any tools, supplies, glue, paint etc. Now lets say you have a limited budget, let’s say $25 for everything, what could you build?
Here are a few ground rules.
1. Take the challenge seriously. Build the very best model you can while still staying within the $25 budget.
2. Don’t cheat. While no one will be looking over your back don’t be tempted to fire up the compressor and break out the Badger 450 airbrush.
3. Before the build starts everyone that participates is required to list what they’re building, and the cost of each item used in the build and we’re it was purchased. If you mail order a kit, accessory, supply etc. the postage must be included. You don’t need to run out and buy all new items but any thing that you have in stock and use must be included in your budget.
4. Common household items do not have to be included in the budget. Fingernail filing boards, masking tape etc do not need to be listed in the budget, and no, an air compressor and Badger 450 are not really everyday household item
5. Time frame. I know there is a lot of group build going so I’m opened to suggestions on the time frame.
6. When you’re done building your kit post a picture of your completed model. (If you can’t post pics email me and well work something out)
7. Subject matter is not important, build what you like but stay in the budget.
So how about it? Any takers? Any more rules needed? I think it could be a fun experience. Are you up for the challenge?
Here's a list of people in the build to this point. Sorry I'm a little late with this, please let me if I need to make any changes.
