I have my Sherman w/105mm howitizer in hand-waiting for recources from the library. also picking up good techiniques/ideas from the other participants in this GB & from the Armor link. Thinking about diving into the world of dioramas-would be my first. However, looks like this weekend will be a painting party-living room & dining room! Spackling has been completed-now time to sand and mask for the baseboards. For some reason, I don't think I'm going to be as obsessive about details as I am on some of my plastic projects.

bobbaily- I am also probably going to be doing my first diorama.

I hope to get some time this weekend to do the lower half of my King Tiger. I plan on painting and mudding the lower half and adding the road wheels. (Wife is going out of town this weekend, so I have free time once the kids go to bed. When I told her this, she roller her eyes, to which I replied- "Just be glad I am not spending the weekend with the OTHER kind of models (I'm thinking Victoria's Secret)"

LOL. I myself am hoping the the interior painting project will grant me some serious modeling supplies & time after it is done. Now just to convince here that I need an airbrush and compressor to paint the dining room.....

Good luck with that!!! Christmas is coming, so that is always a plus. On the down side here, I am running a model budget deficit and risk spending cuts if I continue. Needless to say, I just placed an order with Greatmodels this morning.

Great site! Thanks, Dwight! Boy, that Italeri M4A1 suspension about kicked my butt just cleaning it up! Are the molds old or something? The "rubber" part of the road wheels was formed into an inverted "V" on my example- along with the seam! I should have some pics tonite of the suspension done. - Calvin

Dave
It certainly looks that way. I've just been trawling my references and they were with Pieper at La Gleize

Here's my layout so far. Let me know what you think. The stump and base for the statue are scratch ittems and the flags and cobbles are as well. The base is 5/8" particle board and the earth is celluclay tinted with cheap acryllic paint, white glue, and a dash of disfsoap. the drozen pond isn't quite dry in the pics, but I tried to do it as was outlined in the Modelling Masterclass terrains book. wax on acryllic sheet and etched over black painted board. Let me know what you think.

thanks,

Ted

Yeah, just drip it on the back of your lexan and then iron it flat. I am still waiting to see the final results. The PVA glue is taking forever to dry.

I've got a question for you all. A few months ago finescale ran an article on how to winterwash your tanks using water and chalk pastels. Sorry I can't give the issue, my collection isn't close at hand right now.
Has anyone tried this technique? I started once following the directions but evidently I had the wrong kind of chalk because it didn't turn into a milk consistency. If anyone has tried this with success please tell me, I want to know what brand of chalk you used. Thanks.

Rumblepuppy,
if you scroll back a few pages you'll see I posted my experiences of using chalk/water washes. There's a picture of an 88 in there too to show how it turned out.
Make sure you use artists pastels but not the oil based type.

this is the start of my bulge dio.... i have the front half of the terrain built up, with a small ridge and a rifleman in a pit....... on the other side i'm going to put a couple of mortar tubes.... I have about 8 more guys(resin and plastic) that i'm going to put in. I haven't added the dirt and snow and all yet because the back isn't yet built up..... The back is where i'm going to put the M16AA with a Willys and a line of trees..... (I have yet to find the right trees to use)........... SO IT IS COMING RIGHT ALONG..........

Sorry, the first picture is a little blurry........

how I did what? the figure? just a small small brush, that's about it..... I only used the fig's upper half and glued him to the board before I build the pit around him.......

figures are usually my weakness and I have a few more yet to go......... Black Eye [B)]

hey looks good so far. One thing i might add is that the back of the carrige for the 105mm looks kinda like its floating on top of the snow. I suggest pressing it into your snow, or build up some snow around it.

cant wait to see it finished.
