I am still recovering from the in-laws and the excellent turkey we had at their place. The good news is I got to frequent the Hobby Lobby several times and caught some good deals and replenished my tools. Bad news is I didn't have any time to devote to the Nav Av GB but I really don't have much left to do... The holiday was nice and relaxing and I have enough turkey for some turkey-iceberg lettuce-mayo-white bread- sandwiches for a long time! Later fellas..

I got my 1/72 F-14A by Hasegawa today. What a kit!!! Tons of parts with photo etch. The flaps and slats are already separate. Decals for 4 different planes. Unfortunately no weapons just a TARPS pod. Typical Hase kit. How was everyone's Turkey Day (US)???

I'm finally gonna get to the not-so local hobby shop tomorrow so I might come back with lots of goodies for my Tomcat. It's too bad I don't have more money to spend, on second thoughts maybe it's a good thing, I do need food for the next few weeks (or do I?.Mischief [:-,]Mischief [:-,]).

I'll have to check that movie out mate. And, armornan, keep changing your mind, you've got a whole month to make it up. It's the best way to come up with something original. I'll probably build mine OOTB with the addition of a resin cockpit, I'm too lazy to convert it to anything else. If I can get my hands on another kit I'll consider building a couple of them at the same time.

Mark, I've got an Aztec A320 that has been used once if you want it. It's single action though- not sure if you are double or single. I made no progress this weekend on the M1A2 but I did some small assemblies on the Super Hornet. It's primer coated and ready for the final coat- I think I'll wait until mid December to do that since exams are coming up. I actually think i might have changed my mind yet again and convert this Academy kit to a D and build the RM kit at the same time. I really love this bird and I have so many ideas I had to buy a notebook to write them down in.
Seriously, Mark, if you want this Aztec you can have it- it worked great the one time I used it and then Christmas came and was given something else. It needs a great home and it works well with Testors compressors. I have to say that it is unblievably easy to clean. Let me know.

I forgot to mention that the Hasegawa kit I just got has the photo etch parts with it. Not a bad deal for $11.50. Supposed to be about 4 degrees tonight. A definate good time to model. I have most of the A-4E painted. Just some detail stuff now. Then the decals. I had to totally tear down my airbrush and clean it. It still is not doing right. I think the color cup is clogged. Paints OK for a while then quits. The nozzle is good. I have an older Aztek. May have to upgrade to better unit.

I prefer the "Lock On nr 18" as a reference for this bird. I realy can't stand watchin the "Top Gun"-movie and as far as "The Final Countdown"-movie, that's way too long ago to remember match from it (I guess those are the early signs of Alzheimer), but I do remember the scene of two F14 doing a flyby on two Zeros Smile [:)]

The new DVD of The Final Countdown is real good. It has some interviews with the Jolly Roger squadron that helped with the filming. Great movie!!!! I just aquired a 1/72 Hasegawa F-14A with USS Independance markings. I got it off EBay for $11.50, still has the parts sealed in the bags. Getting snow up here now so the modeling season will be in full swing.

you know what is even better pingtang? Check out the movie The Final Countdown- it's got some great scenes of an F-14 slapping around a Japanese Zero.

I've just finished watching Top Gun for the 701st time on TV and am now sufficiently psyched to start this build (if I wasn't earlier). Not a bad movie, but I don't know how many more times I can watch it. Good inspiration for building a F-14 though.

Thanks for the invite.
The Fujimi kits are well detailed and are as complicated as the Hasegawa kits. Though not as available as the Hase kits, and can be more expensive. Yet they can be cheaper on Ebay. I like them both, they build very nicely and really don't have a favorite of the two. I just know I have a few of them in the stash and will keep looking for more.

Absolutely Chuck! Welcome Aboard. I've got the Academy kit and it seems to be pretty good. When we get into the build I'll speak up. I hear those Fujimi Cats are pretty good- you agree?

Since It is too late to get into Naval Air Group Build I'll toss my hat in the ring with an F-14 build. I do have a couple of Fujimi 72nd F-14's, Or I may go 48th with a Revellogram or Hasegawa B. Haven't decided yet. Just finished a Dauntless for the AM build. Armed with camera and airbrush and glue. I'm ready. I know this it will be a Desert Storm Bird since I have decals for them already. Just not quite sure which scale. For those who have the Academy kit, you won't be disappointed. A bit of info though some say the nose is to blunt compared to the Hasegawa kit. Frankly I really don't see it since I have built both of them and really don't care.

So if I may, request permission to come aboard as I salute the ensign and the OOD.

ive made excellent headway with the dio, but ive been unable to do anything with it due to exams and a holiday in bali, so i am now suffering a moderate case of model deprivation. Sad [:(]

Hey guys what’s the link for the GB Badge??

I got me the academy 1/48th last week and I think I might try to build it and the Italeri one at the same time. I have the eduards cockpit set for one of them but I don’t know which one to use it on.

Only just a month and a half to go now. Can't wait.

Reggie - let those decals sit in the sun for a few days. I just put them in the bag and tape them to a sunny window.

This is going to be a great GB. If all these kits get bulit, I think it may be one of the biggest yet. I wish I had a LHS meeting or IPMS group. The nearest one is over 2 hours away. I have been trying to startone here, but not many people want a scheduled meeting. Oh well! I have the Forum and all!

hey fellas- well I got my kit ready to go and all the goodies I am adding to it. I am thinking of building the RM F-14D along side OOB. Actually I think I just made the decision in my head. Well it's Saturday and I have some time so I am going to jump on this 1/35 M1A2 before the LHS meeting. Have a good weekend!
