Bow [bow]Congrats Mark! I learned that there is no local IPMS chapter here but the LHS owner gets together with about 20 people once a month at his shop to build, shoot the poop, and examine techniques etc. So I am pretty excited about getting in on that. I got the paint taken off of my Monogram F-15E cockpit and I look forward to getting that done right. I painted it the entirely wrong shade of gray. Anyways, I'll be gone next week on business so I am working on my Nav Av GB project trying to get it going... I bet that PBY will be an awesome build... Congrats again on your contest killings!

I am going to try to go. Only about a 2 hour drive to the east. I have an itch to build something BIG!!!!Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D] I have a 1/48 PBY that is screaming for glue and paint!!!!

You won't regret it. I can't wait to begin this build. I got a pretty good start on the hornet for the Nav Av GB so I have put it aside for a moment to work on the 1/48 Monogram f-15E. It's a beauty! Hey reg, checkout this website on gawk at this guy's builds...www.naritafamily.com click on the scalemodel icon
He has some build photos of his Tamiya 1/32 Tomcat and F-15 Eagle. His work is awesome and he's got a lot of nice pics.Smile [:)] I am thinking about using his weathering techniques on this build. How is the 1/144 Dio going?

I bet the Academy Kit is half the Hasegawas price...prob have a little left over after the PE and decals. I think twobob's are abouyt 10 bucks a sheet or so.

I have had no problem with the Hasegawa decals. And not to mention that the detail will be better with the Hasegawa kit without spending a bunch on extras. But even with the extras, the Academy kit might be a bit cheaper. It is a real coin toss!My 2 cents [2c]Big Smile [:D]

I will take my F-4E, UH-1D, S-3B, CH-53, MH-47, A321, F4U-1, F-102, F-16A+, T-55. These are assorted scales. I always like to take a bunch of models so others can see them. I don't have any way to display them at home right now so as soon as they are done and I take a photo, they go into storage. Kind of depressing! It is almost hunting season and for about 6 weeks, I am busy most weekends, or until I fill my tags!

I like the 3 month span. It should be perfect for doing two kits. Hobbytown here is having a show/contest this Saturday. I will be there with a slug of models.

You should check out TwoBob's for the decals and try Eduards PE, both are top notch, reg. I used Eduard PE on Tamiya's 1/48 Thunderbolt Bubbletop. It's quite extensive and they give great instructions. I finally got the Has 1/48 Cat and the TwoBob's decal set for the Jolly Rogers 60th Anniversary. What about mail ordering from www.hlj.com. They are a big hobby company in Japan and I have found them a little cheaper on tools, etc... Check out their website... they have a lot of cool stuff.

I'm happy with a three month time scale. I'm sill in the research stage, have most of my material at hand so I'll be cheating a little and starting the last week of december or so as I have the time of work.

Good question Mark. Maybe we can ask RonUSMC. He's got a site that he lets people upload with a group build section. The Concorde guys have some stuff there, I think. BTW, pingtang that would be fine by us to use that Cat. I am estimating at least three months for this GB. Is that enough or would you guys like more time?

We are shooting for a Jan 1, 2005 start. Then we will set the finish date. It will be fun. Has anyone inquired about free hosting for our pics?

I might as well jump in on this one. I'm getting an Academy 48 F-14A. I'm doing it for the US Naval Aviation build too, Am I supposed to enter the same aircraft in two GB's? It's all I can afford so it'll have to do for both.

I have a F-15 I need to do with the Two Bobs WTC Scramblers decals for it. I am putting the decals on the UH-1D now and they are fairly good. Typical European kit decals that they are a bit on the thick side. But Solvaset is fixing the problem. I will send you a photo of my F-4E.

Lucky, the rain is finally beginning to taper off. I am putting a hold on the Hornet for a couple of weeks from the Nav Av GB to work on a Monogram F-15 that I had shelved for a couple of months. I agree with what you say... this Monogram kit is pretty great.

Weather has been good. Mid 70's and all. I am about done with the UH-1D and the A-4 is progressing. Looks like we have quite the participation list. This is going to be fun. I may whip out a F-104 Starfighter here soon. The old Monogram kit. Still can't beat some of those old kits by Monogram. I have my F-14's all lined up and ready for the build.
