Osher - Karl ... Kremps hasn't been over lately has she? She has a thing for little things... she collects them.... It reminds her of what she is not! Wink [;)]

Seriously... I usually find the missing piece either the day after I scratch build it, or when I decide to close up the sub assembly without it... which ever happens first!

Just re-read previous posts, and seen that I'm not the only one to have very safe locations for storing delicate items...! Good luck finding them Karl

Progress Report: Spitfire:
The canopy part Tony so kindly sent me has had the radio wire painted (old bronze). It needs a second application, and then is ready. The canopy other than that is ready for masking and glueing. Famous last words, but that's tomorrow's task

bf-110:
As you may recall, this kit was slightly warped, and also needed the underside paintwork sanding (due to tissue paper being painted in). The sanding was a success, and actually, gave the underside an impressive light/dark finish. However, the warping bit me at this point, as one of the rear wings snapped. Not along an edge, but actually, in half, with just some slight pressure. As this was one of the parts that needed extra adhesive to get it to conform, I can only assume that is was under horrendous pressure. I've CA'd it back, and it looks fine now.

One slight problem is that I put the machine gun somewhere safe, being so delicate (ever seen a gun sight or trigger in 1/72 scale etched?!). However, I can't remember where it is now! I'm tempted to just finish it without a machine gun. Next stage is a bit of touching up and then apply the canopy.

Is it my ailing eye sight (repercussions of seeing Kremps in the showerYuck [yuck]) or have you used Alclad in the wheel bays????

Or is it BMF I wonder..................................................

Nope.....neither.

Gunze buffable metalic acrylics.

This is the first time I've used them, but they went on beautifully, don't need thinning for spraying either.

The finish is fairly delicate, as you'd expect, just like most metalics, but it takes a coat of Future without problem. Even with a coat of matt over the top it's still damn shiny.

Looking forward to trying these on future builds.

Progress Update

Built new pitot tube out of plastic section and wire, took about 2 minutes!

Hurri also has a radio mask, made out of a toothpick cut and sanded to shape, took a bit longer on that one, about 5 mins!

Canopy sections have been dumped in Future, and are now drying off.

The end is in sight!!!!

Just in time for the end of the GB!!!

They need big gloves?Big Smile [:D]

The new canopies for the Hurri have just arrived, along with a set of Eduard masks. So it'll probably a case of dunking them in Future tonight, before masking them up tomorrow and applying paint.

Here are a few progress shots:

Now all I need to do is find the missing pitot tube and mast......

........I know I put them somewhere safe.......

Hi all, its 11:57pm on Saturday night and I thought I had better do some posting to let people know I'm still alive.

Tony, I went down to see Chris this morning after dropping my oldest daughter off at ballet, I told him that he'd been discussed on the web and he had a sort of "oh yeah, OK what was said" type attitude. It only once your name was mentioned that he relaxed a little. Your 109 looks really nice BTW, I am looking forward to seeing some more pics.

JB sorry to hear about your car problems mate, that sort of thing always seems to happen at the most (financially) inconvenient times. I'm glad no one was hurt though.

Tom, PE and my hands don't mix in most circumstances. I always end up sacrificing a few bits to the PE gods regardless of how careful I try to be.

Cheers

Who you calling an old fogey you young whimper snapper ? I'm old enough to be your Grandpa, so have some respect for your elders. Just for that, I won't let Kremps give you your warm milk & tuck you in tonight.

Regards, Rick

That's not a punishment, that's a pardon!

Jay Hope you get your car situation sorted.

Tony Great work on the 1098. I'm assuming it's 1/72. or you've got huge hands!?

Progress Update

Hurricane now has wheels, back and front. Need to sort out the tail wheel as mine is sticking out too far at the moment, making it look more like a Sea Hurricane!

Sudenly realised I can't find the radio mast or pitot tube, I know I painted them, but now I can't find them anywhere. So looks like I might be making new onesBanged Head [banghead]

Apart from that, just awaiting the new vac form canopy. Will post pics at the weekend.
