Tom, do you have the full version or just the sample? How is it? ie. quality, ease of use?

Tweety, not good, gots me thirtsy at 9:30 in the morning here in the great white north (though it really isn't white right now). Gotta love that shot, I wish I could do that!
About the decal problem, 1st round of re-application worked a bit. I sliced the decal a bit around the wrinkle and it helped but I'll need to re-apply again. I also tried the custom decal again and this time it went on okay, but the edge wrinkled up and wasn't very straight, I guess I'll have to cut it better next time. This is so painful. I am almost finished but the decaling is taking forever!

Update: The Spitfire has been stripped of paint. The paintstripper has also discoloured the filler too, for some reason. Now to paint the underside again! 3rd time lucky?

Tweets How could i forget "Cordial Night" Y'know i've never seen a woman drink so much beer beforeThumbs Up [tup]
I certainly remember those security guards and the Milk Truck incident, Hmmm that was another one of Toms hairbrained ideas......

Progress:::::::: I forgot to mention that my first foray into enamel paints worked just fine, the MM enamel RLM 65 flowed through the A/B very nicely, now onto the upper colours.......

Jules - MM does have some nice paints, and a great selection too! I use both those and the MM acrylics and love them both!!! Both seem rather consistent in the way the go on and the finish achieved...

I may be too late. I've just signed up here, and I happen to have a 1/48 Spitfire 1 and a 1/72 109E on the go. Can I join this group build (my first one), or am I too late ?
Thanks

Finally some pics.........

The starboard side showing 'Figaro' Ian Gleed's personal logo.

From the back, showing the drooped elevators.

The underside, showing the poor job I made of the rear wing to fuselage joint.

Will probably try and get the canopy sorted tonight.

Tony first of all Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to FSM and of course you can join in. What do you want me to put you down for, the Spit or the 109 or both? By the way it's always great to see another fellow Melbournian on the forum.

I was talking to one of the LHS guys here and he was saying that I'm the third guy he knows who built the hasegawa kit, tried using the Kit decals and had problems with them. Oh well, I think I have aplan so we'll see how it works out in a few days.Sigh [sigh]

Define frustration: attaching PE levers to a 1/72 cockpit sidewall. Breathe in the wrong direction, and just breath will blow those things away... However, they are now attached to bf-110, as are the foot pedals. The tub is also now attached to one fuselage side. Just need a couple more bits or so, and the fuselage can be closed up. As the mainplanes and nancelles are already completed, I should be ready for attaching the canopy, then painting. I can't believe that after 2 months or so, I'm finally almost at that stage! As I'll paint the Spit at the same time, I should have some pictures ready soon. The PE does really enhance the cockpit though (1/72 Fujimi bf-110 C), so maybe worth the agro in the long-run!

Osher - after assembling the Fujimi 1/48 Bf110 cockpit at the first of the GB I decided it would actually look wonderful with some PE or some resin... I might get another one and have another go at a good looking cockpit on it... the kit itself looked like it would go together rather smoothly!!!

Thanks for the encouragement guys! The Fujimi 1/72 bf-110 does go together smoothly, and despite being an old kit (the decals are yellowed, and not that comprehensive) has not real flaws so far, and no need for filler. There is though little in the way of details, and the ariels are a bit thick. Adding an aftermarket set really brings this kit alive. It does have moulded in belts for the pilot though. Still, the panels lines are nice, and recessed. The Italeri kit on the other hand has better details, but raised panel lines. For reference, the after market kit I used was the Airwaves one, which is now made by Hannants (the shop people) and not by ED models anymore, even though older kits say that they are from that stable.

Having seen wha telse you've produced Tom, I have no hesitation in thinking that if you start on the Fujimi bf-110, it will be something superb! Can you finish it by the end of May though? Now that is a challenge! Seriously, it would be interesting to compare the 1/72 and the 1/48 kits.

Karl lovely work of your Hurricane, it looks fantastic Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]. I'm really glad you were able to repair the damage done previously. From your photos you can't even see there was any damage.

Osher you must have steadier hands than me, because I have enough trouble with 1/48 PE. I don't know why but I ordered a PE set for my 1/72 Harrier that I'm doing for the RAAF 'What If" GB.

Tom, that 1/48 Fujimi kit sounds like it could be a starter (for me) for the next BoB GB. Do you know anybody who makes decent AM bits for that kit?

Cheers

Guys Thanks for the kind words on the Hurricane. I've learnt alot with this build, mainly about decals, setting solutions, and panel shading!!!

Jay I think the problem I had with the Hasa decals for the Hurri were self inflicted, in that I used both Gunze Mr Mark Setter and Softer(Yes Softer, not softener) solutions. Now I just use the setting solution which is excellent, and leaves the decals looking paionted on, even the thick old Hasa ones!!!!Thumbs Up [tup]

Osher I had the same issues with the PE on my, still unfinished, Do217. It;s small enough in 1/48, let alone 1/72! Looking forward to seeing pics of your progress.

Progress Update

Not a lot really. Sliced the kit canopy to make use of the forward portion, as the vac form one doesn't fit as well. Just need to mask and paint, along with the sliding section.

I'm hoping to have it all done by the end of next week, especially as I have a long weekend coming up.

Karl
