Jules - Very nice 109, I liked the yellow nose too. It's a good mottle too.

Good news for me is that I found the missing antenna. What a hassle, I won't do that again. It's attached to the modl. Now only a coat of matt varnish and some weathering to go. Should be able to bring home the bacon this weekend I hope, just in the nick of time.

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Well guys, almost 100 pages (I think I joined around pg30) and 269 posts later I am FINALLY done! So without further ado, I give you one RCAF Sqdn 1 Hurricane Mk1, from about mid Sept, 1940.

Enjoy! (and any comments more than welcome!) Thanks for all the help!

I was a little shutter happy, I had about 30 decent pics to choose from (Rick, the tripod works like a dream!), I hope these 10 were enough. The only critism I have of the kit were the nav lights on the end of the wings, they just didn't fit any good! I had loads of fun building this kit and for the first model back after about 8 years, I'm very happy with the results and I tried (and learned) a lot of new stuff on this one too.Big Smile [:D] I hope you like it.

Very nice work, Jay! I managed to put my Hurricane in a "safe" place and I'm still looking for it! It's probably in the same place my Stuka is!Tongue [:P] Since I'm still looking for both, I substituted a Fw-190A1. Some progress shots:

The seat belts are painted on. I'm going to attempt to paint the pilot that will be climbing into it.[:0] Must be going senile! I had that Hurricane in my hands just the other day!Eight Ball [8] - Calvin

That's 1/144 scale Calvin? Looking good!

Jay, your Hurricane looks awsome! Really nice weathering too!

I can't believe it's almost the end of the May, and my 3 models to finish for the end of May are still unfinished! What happened to the time?

Update: Spitfire: The bulkhead is so much easier to fix in place before the fuselage is assembled! However, I dry ran it last night, and it can be done. One that's in, I really am up to canopy stage, so painting will be done tomorrow (I hope). As for the BF-110, the cockpit needed some touch-up, but now ready for the canopy. Machine gun has gone, to be found next week I guess! I'm just wondering how to apply the complex mottle job my BF-110 has. It does not look easy...

Great job on the Hurricane Jay. Very nice build. Yeah, a tripod is a must for close photography. The wing tip nav lights are a pain, but they will fit properly with lots of TLC. They are handed, so it's best to only remove one from the sprue, fit it & then fit the other. Still requires a little work with a sanding stick on a very small, fiddly, easily lost part, but it can be done Smile [:)]

Jay I said it in the aircraft section but I'll say it again, looks awesome. I am always too chicken to do that much weathering but one day I'll have to give it a go.

Calvin Your 190 is looking good too but its 1/72 (not 1/144) scale right?

Jules, Calvin, Osher, Rick, Dave, thanks for the comments, I really appreciate them. Dave, that really wasn't much weathering. I tried to fade the upper wings with a light yellow chalk rubbed in but when I hit it with a sealing coat of flat, it darkened back to the colour before, so the wings don't look as faded as I had hoped, oh well. It still looks good I think.Big Smile [:D]

Nope, It's the same scale as my Spit & Bf109 for this GB: 1/144!Blush [:I] BTW, found my Ju-87B-1 and Hurricane Mk IIc hiding under the bed!Big Smile [:D] Dang gremlins!Tongue [:P] The hardest part about this scale it seems is painting the figures! I was never great at painting them anyway & on this scale even my smallest brush feels like a roller!Eight Ball [8] - Calvin

Awesome Hurricane!

Well, I am afraid, my Spitfire will not be finished by the end of May. I still have the dark green to add and no time left to do it in

sorry gents, I have let the team down on this one Sad [:(]

Hi Everyone,
Here's my 109. I've just made it in time. It's been a push to get this one done, but in the words of Jack Thompson, 'Now we can all get some sleep'.

I had a lot of trouble removing the BMF canopy masking. Came off in tiny slivers and left heaps of gum. I almost ran out of nose grease removing it !

Any tips on this would be very welcome. The BMF I used was well over 10 years old, maybe that was the problem
Cheers.

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Nice job, Tony! Did U use the "sponge" technique for the sides? I should have the "Butcherbird", Stuka & Hurricane done by Tuesday! Boy, talk about down to the wire! - Calvin

Mike - no worries on finishing on time... this is the very first GB I finished before the stop date..

Tony - looking good! I had the same prob with BMF lately and it was a new pack... I used soapy water to remove the residue.

Yeah, Rick, I am cutting it a little close!Tongue [:P] Here's some more progress shots of the Fw190. Gotta finish the pilot figure, install the antenna & put the second part of the decal for theunit badge on. Man, I need a smaller set of tweezers for some of these decals!Big Smile [:D]

Here's the Stuka. Unfortunately, as I was putting the left side code decals on a couple of them got screwed up![:0] So the right side is going to only have partial codes for now, till I find some small enough letters in my spares or online. There is two crew figures for this one so they should be fun (yeah, right!Big Smile [:D])

I still have to add another decal for the fuselage strip since the one I had wasn't wide enough. I do plan on weathering these two birds lightly but I want to get the Hurricane done b4 then! Back to the Bench....! - Calvin
