Jules no worries mate, I was away most of last week on a work conference and I'm still in catch up mode. Oh and by the way that a fantastic looking 109 you've got there congratulations Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup].

The same goes for Jay and Tony as well, great looking builds, both of you Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup].

Calvin what can I say your skill with those tiny aircraft is amazing it really is.

To everybody who happens to still be hanging around this thread and to all those who have participated, as we near the (sort off) end date I would like to say thanks very much for making this build such a huge success. I think from a sheer number of posts perspective this would have to be one of the most popular GB's FSM has ever hosted.

Cheers

Well this one is winding down isn't it. I hate to see it end, but all good things do come to a close. I would like to say a big THANK YOU to Darren for the excellent job done as Moderator & to all of the participating members for making this the best GB I've participated in so far. Some great guys & modelers on exhibit in this thread. I hope to see this restarted in 2006, as there are a lot of BOB birds waiting to be built. I tracked down some decals for a white nosed Emil, so I'm ready to go.

Regards, Rick

Jay Great looking build, made me remember that I forgot to rescribe the nav light frames!

The weathering looks excellent too.Thumbs Up [tup]

Tony The 109 looks really good, especially the sponge mottling.

Calvin Those are outstanding builds in any scale, let alone 1/144!Shock [:O]

Final Progress Update

It's finished, well almost!

The only thing left to add is the gun site, which I'll do tomorrow.

But without further ado, here's the proof....

....and with friends from the same era.....

I've really enjoyed this GB, and can't wait until the next BoB one later in the year.

Till then, see you all in the NAGB, now where did I put that MS406?

Karl

Karl, you made it ! Looks great, you know I think the Hurricane is one of my favourite fighters of ww2 now. Theres just something about it.

Calvin, really awesome small scale stuff you've got! I have two 1:144 jets (f4, mig-23) that need to be finished and I am actually dreading it but seeing what you can do gives me hope! Tongue [:P]

Rick and some others said it before, Thanks for letting me particpate in this GB and get reacquainted with this wonderful hobby. I had so much fun and I hope some of you would be up for the Canadian GB which starts in 3 months! (Sept 1).Smile [:)] Funny thing is I've got a lot of Canadian subjects on the bench! This build is a RCAF Hurricane, I've got a RCAF 440 sqdn Typhoon ready for decals (tonight's job), a Beaufighter TF.X I'm going to do as RCAF 404 and a Bolingbroke (Bristol Blenheim) I'm wanting to do as a training target tug based here in Canada for the British Commonwealth Air Training Program. Jay - I wish I would have read this first!!! I was just at the hobby store for the 50% off sale and they had a couple of Canadian WWII kits there... I'll have to snoop around but I am sure I have something, I know I do have an AT-6 with Canadian markings but I was saving that for a Venezuelan trainer.. we'll see...

Why would anyone want to do anything Canadian ??

Just kidding Big Smile [:D]. I haven't committed yet, but will very likely join in. I've got at least 3 kits & AM decals suitable for the Red Maple Leaf. Probably do either a 1/48 Hobbycraft Sea Fury, with the Cutting Edge detail set, or if I completely lose what little sanity I have left I may do a Monogram 1/48 F-101 Voodoo. Maybe both Smile [:)].

Well, Nick, the GB ends tomorrow so you'd better hurry!Tongue [:P] Thanks for the kind comments, everyone! I really did have a lot of fun on this GB and certainly wouldn't mind doing another BoB GB!Big Smile [:D] The Hurricane will be cutting it close but here's the Fw-190 and Stuka. The weathering on the Butcherbird I jacked up somehow and still don't know what happened! The wing went fine but the fuselage just wasn't happening!Evil [}:)] Still gotta finish painting the pilot & the windscreen/canopy. Should be dry from the Future now! I did manage to find some letter codes for the right side of the Stuka, although they are a slightly different style![:0]

Hi Everyone,
I'd like to add my vote of thanks to Darren. this was my first GB, and I really enjoyd it, and I even finished some models. I've got it down to 20 unfinished ones now ! I'm in for BoB 2006, in fact, I've just ordered a Hasegawa Ju 87B and Hurricane 1, so BRING IT ON!
BTW, does anyone know of some 1/48 decals for an Australian flying a Hurricane 1 with the RAF during the BoB, or at least some photos ? I can always cobble together the codes and serials. That's the angle I'm going to follow from the RAF side.
Until next time, I'll see you in the other GBs.
Cheers
Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

WOW, OMG Calvin, awesome! Just sitting there on the bench they look good but put them with something whose size I am very familiar with really highlights the models! I think I should try some of them, what kits were you using?

Tom, I would love to see you do a 'Harvard', I've always wanted to do one but since I am getting back in now, I should go look for one.

Rick a Voodoo would be cool, I really like the looks of them, they have this real beefy and mean look to them. Evil [}:)]
It would be a real treat if you and Tom could join us in September.Smile [:)]

All:
Here is my submission for the GB: a 1/48 Tamiya Bf-109E4. It is mostly OOB, with a resin seat and Aeromaster decals. I used Tamiya rattle-can sprays and MM brushed acrylics for the fuselage and interior.

This is my second model - the first was a Spit Mark II that I finished just as this GB got underway.

Well, it's a minute to midnight, so it looks like I'm not going to finish for the end of the GB. Here's where I'm at:
Spitfire: the canopy has been partially masked off, just a tad more to do before painting.

bf-110: the canopy needs masking off, before painting. Although, to be honest, I've never sprayed mottle before, so, it was another new process.

So, there it finishes for me! Who knows, at the rate I model, I might have something finished for the next GB! I haven't modelled in years, and have yet to actually finish a model and paint it. I've started quite a few, but never finished one. Of course, each time I get closer to the goal! I have finished a tank, but over weathered it, so one day it will be used for a diaroma, as an abanonded tank. I do set out with great intentions, and full of energy, but time just seem to slip away... Anyway, this has been a wonderful GB to be part of, and I'd like to first thank everyone for your kind words, secondly, to thank Tony for so kindly sending me missing parts for the Spitfire, and thirdly, well, I've been amazed at the beautiful models that people have built here, which have forced me to raise my game! Once again, thanks everyone for making this such a great GB!

dstrebe & razordws, these little Bandai kits really are jems! Thing is, I got a bunch of Bf-109E's & Zero's because they were sold at the 7-Elevens in Japan but the packaging was the same for all of them! Like a box of chocolates, you never knew what you were getting! Of all the Wing Club series, I never got an Avenger though, dang it! LOL If your really interested, I could send you guys one or one of each (Zero & Bf-109) ;-p I'm at work now so I can't load up my finished pics of the Fw190 & Stuka to photobucket. I should have just enough time to finish the Hurricane b4 midnite! - Calvin

Rick, Dave, and Calvin:

Thanks for the encouraging words...I DID have fun building this, and the holiday weekend gave me just enough time to finish it up. I'll try to post some lighter photos soon.

The spinner was a decal, part of the Aeromaster Eagle Day Part IV set I picked up for the kit. It seemed too large when I put it on the spinner - until I saw (too late) that I had to put it on the whole spinner+prop+backing plate assembly!

Next is Tamiya's Razorback. I've gotten some great tips for painting the interior in this forum.

Thanks again, guys,

Dave

Nice bf109 dstrebe! The nose still looks good!
Oh yeah, Thanks for hosting a great GB Darren! Thumbs Up [tup]
Osher, I would love to see the results! Keep at it!
Calvin, I had the same problem with my gunsite for the Hurricane. I had just painted the black on it and fling, away it went! Luckily after about a half hour of searching I found it about 2 m (6ft) away! I really didn't feel like scratching one! See with hard work and determination (with some patience and only a few colourful words), you can make it to never never land to find those missing pieces! Laugh [(-D] So are the bandai kits only available in Japan?, bummer if they are as they look great and It would be cool to pick a couple up!
