I've been so wrapped up in my A-10 that I haven't gotten much done on my truck. Shame on me, I'll have to pull it out and see what else I can do tonight. I'll have to wait for the weekend to try to get some paint on it. Plus I want to add a second "belt" of homemade spaced armor on the fighting compartment, and some interior details too.

It's all good. I had such a burnout putting this damn truck together, I took a break this week until this weekend to continue on the build.

Ok, final update. I finished my Ural and the BS-100 field gun. The models were finished in an overall basecoat of MM Acryl dark green, with all paint chipping done in Warhammer paints. I decided to leave a dustcoat off, and relied solely on thin washes and pastels for weathering:

Nice looking Ural you've got there, zokissima. How do you get that worn, dirty look on your tires?

You can put me down for a Opel Blitze that I'm going to start on for a dio, I'm actually building an SWS half track for this also. Right now I'm just putting together the etch and better tires then I can start.

Lemon:
The tires were first given a wash of raw umber (artist acrylics), followed by a wash of mixed chalk pastel dust, then when dry, they were dusted with chalk pastels alone.

Check out the size compared to the M-998 Ambulance behind it.

Thanks to Charles for the link in Strictly Modern Armor which shows where all the nice pretty hydraulic lines run! They will be included to the best of my ability!

Progress report: None.

I did get some modeling time in this weekend, even got the airbrush out, but nothing got done on my truck. What was I thinking? Well, maybe I can get something done this week. I've got the spaced armor to add, and there are a few details to scratch (radios and the like). Then it should be ready for the final assembly. Just have to focus.

That is some amazing work you've got there, Scorn, most impressive indeed. Can't wait to see the finished product.

We definitely need more posts in here. Starting to feel like the Red-headed Step-child Build....

PROGRESS! ! :

Detail for the crane control platform.

This kit sat in the box for about 7 years so there was a little warpage on some of the longer parts. Repairs are evident.

Hey guys,
Looks like everyone is doing fine, exept me. I am still having trouble with my M923. The dang suspennsion is all tweaked on. I gess that makes my mind up about a dio. The badge that you have all seen is probaly going to be the gb. I will have some more news on that later. The end date is going to be in june. I think that is plenty of time to get thing done. Everyone who would like to still join is more than wellcome. I will try to keep everything updated from here on out.
talk later,
kevin

Good progress Scorn. Definitely going far with the improvements.
I have the same kit, but it will remain in the box for a little while longer. Im planing to convert it to the tractor version ultimately, and scratch a patriot missle battery, to be towed by said tractor. I just hope that the parts don't get too screwy by the time I actually get around to building it.

Amazing details, Scorn. Keep the updates coming, you're shaming me into getting back to work on my truck, and that's just what I need, a little push!

Great progress Scorn. THe crane looks great. Does it come out of the kit like that? FOr some reason, last time I looked at mine, I thought it came only with the option for it to be folded closed...?

Do you have the Italeri?

The kit looks folded, but all of the hydraulics are built so that they have some motion to them. I built mine so that there is some up and down motion for the boom, but I glued the rotation and forward/rear motion axis in preparation for the diorama that it will be incorporated into.

If you want any great ref pics btw let me know. Have a huge number and will gladly compress and send to you.

UPDATE AND COMPLETED:

This will sooner or later go into a diorama with the 5-ton I built earlier, a HMMWV ambulance, and a HMMWV guntruck.

I now wear the group build badge with pride.

Excellent work, Scorn. That's a good looking truck you've got there. Sadly, I've gotten nothing more done on my project. I think I'm just in a slump right now, I sit there and fiddle with the parts, but I just don't get any real progress done. But your pics do help me get motivated, so thanks for sharing!

Actually Lemon, I am in the same kind of funk right now. I keep trying to get really motivated, but it isn't working. Thanks though! !

Scorn, excellent job. THe cargo bed looks very nice, some realistic wear and tear there Big Smile [:D]

I know what you guys mean about a slump. I've been trying to finish up my 251 for a while now, and weekend after weekend go by, and I apparently have lost the ability to motivate myself. Maybe in a week or two more Smile [:)]
