Hello everyone

Firstly where is everybody?

The Comanche is pretty much done, just have to attach the wheels and put some flat coat onto the hellfires. Will post some pics in the next day or so.

I've actually learn't quie a lot from this build such as:
-microset and microsol are amazing products
-my canopy masking skills needs some work and practice(anyone know how to remove the overspray?)
-microscale flat works but i need some practice with it
-panel washing needs some more practice

As I mentioned I'll post some pics soon.

Hey Guys,

I've been swamped with trying to get the heck outta Lubbock. I'm finishing the Longbow that I've been working on for a year now. It is being hand delivered down to Ft. Hood tomorrow for the 1st Cav division museum and will be on display with pieces of 99-5135 in their new OIF exhibit. I'm pretty psyched!

As for me, I'm headed to Ft. Lewis, Washington on the 14th for a month of pre-commissioning training camp. I commission on 17 July and will be posted to B Company, 1-104th Avn, PAARNG and will hopefully be down at Ft. Rucker, AL this fall to start flight training. Lookin forward to it!

Is the build closed at this point? The original post said it would close 1 May, but I couldn't find an update to that.

An update on the AH-64. I applied dullcote just after taking these pictures, so I'll be removing the masking tonight. Hoping to apply the remaining clear parts, finish decaling the Hellfires and paint the rocket pods tonight.

Hi all

Here are my RAH-66 pics. This is my 2nd helo kit that I've built and the first one that I've actually finished. As I mentioned in an earlier post I have some overspray on the canopy so didn't turn out as I planned. I'm quite satisfied with it which I guess is all that matters. Will learn from my mistakes and improve on the next one.

Apache update:

The helo is complete except for the weapons; hoping to finish up the Hellfires tonight and the rocket pods tomorrow (the rocket pods still need to be painted).

The Hokum cockpit has been assembled (forgot to take pictures) and primed, painting it tonight.

The Hokum's coming along as well:

Check with Cobra Company for ammo belts. I don't remember how much I paid for just a couple of belts, but you can order just those parts if you need to and they're a lot easier to work with than the kit's ammo belts.

MM "interior blue/green" is the color I used for the interior of the cockpit. I use it (accurate or not) for all my Soviet/Russian armor and aircraft. Big Smile [:D]

I haven't. Most things have been on hold while I've been housing hunting. But, I'm closing in a few weeks so I'll have a dedicated workshop for my builds come September!

trigger, congrats on your new workshop!

My dad's digital camera is having problems, so i can't post pics just yet. But my little bird is DONE. now i'm working on a very simple diorama for it. the Little Bird is the main focus. it's gonna have two figures - one soldier and one pilot - in a desert setting.

btw thanks to HeavyArty for the advice on the desert baseSmile [:)]

Hey Guys,

Well, I haven't been building much since the move, but I've repaired my AH-64A and hope to finish my OH-58D this week. I think I'm going to take it down to PA with me so I can do something in my off hours.

Apache Freak,

Welcome to the forum!

Haven't touched my Hokum in way too long. Hoping to get back to it tonight...gotta clear some other projects off the bench first. Got a few other things to get into the paintshop, then I can proceed with the Hokum (among other things). Pictures to follow!

Hey Cobrahistorian,

Are you running this GB to the end of the year? If that is indeed the case, is there a chance that i might join at this rather advanced stage?

Unfortunately, I'm just about done with a Hind-D, but still have a Cobra and Apache in my stack of boxes.

Burn16V,

Yep, you're more than welcome to join in! I'm running well behind in my own builds, but the GB is supposed to go through the end of the year.

Welcome!

Great! My only regret is that the urge to get going on that Hind-D overwhelmed me before I found this GB .... ah well, still got those two US gunships.

I must say, as someone who generally prefers fixed wing subjects, I've really enjoyed doing the Hind (not that its completed yet), despite it being a horrific Heller kit, and I'm really looking forward to a few more helos ... especially more challenging ones like the Apache and Cobra.

Not much new regarding my Hokum...did a few things the other day, but there are other projects which are taking priority right now. Anyway, here's what I've got so far:

Haven't decided on a color scheme yet...black would be cool, aand so would the striped camo, but it's a pain in the rear to do. We'll see. Big Smile [:D]

Hey all,

Just wondering how everyone was doing? I've been stuck building tiny helos for work, all 1/72nd scale! Got the OH-6 and UH-1M completed and will be starting on the Cobra, CH-54 and UH-60A today. I really want to get back on track with all of my Apache and Cobra builds, especially since several of them are SO close to being finished. Not to mention they're a bigger scale! Practically need a microscope to deal with the ones I'm working on now!

I'm gonna see if I can get a digital camera so I can take some pics of the tiny stuff I'm working on here.

Later!

Got the Hokum built and the top half primed. Will prime the underside tonight and probably start shooting camouflage tomorrow (that is, unless I decide to just go flat black). :)

Okay, so the Hokum's almost done. Decided to go with overall black as the color; I need a break from camouflage. Big Smile [:D]
