Jay,

It does look like that. Having been up close to a bunch of KWs at the Bell plant, they are definitely a very dark Helo Drab. In shadow it will appear black, but look at the light hitting the door there and you can see it is definitely Drab.

By the way, where'd you find that shot? Very cool. Looks like its a 1-82nd Attack bird.

Oh man.... I just found this online and it is absolutely hysterical. In keeping with the Attack Helo theme, I figured I'd share it with everyone. You have to download it, but it is totally worth it. Just click on where it says "Powerpoint Show" at the center of the hompage.

Helipcotor? What's a helipcotor?
Anyway, here are some shots of the HH-60Hs that came through here last August.

Looks it, doesn't it? Actually, I cheated. Those pics were on the museum's digital camera when I grabbed it to take pics of the Apaches and Hawks that came through in October. I wasn't there when the Seahawks came through. Sad [:(] The museum's director now has standing orders... if anything with a spinny thing on top that looks military comes through, he's to call me immediately!

Hi all

The wind finally dropped yesterday so I was was able to use the airbrush for the first time. Sprayed the insides of both fuselage halves and some parts flat black. Need to finish off a couple of items for the cockpit then I will install it.

Next comes the cutting of the mesh for the intakes, not looking forward to that.

Are there any aftermarket Hellfire kits? Or alternatively how can I make my Hellfires look like they clear lenses? Italeri have molded the missiles out of olive plastic only, no clear parts.

I'm back.

I've been away for a while, few weeks realy, moving to a new place. What with laying floors and other odds and ends I had no time for modeling, so last weekend I done a quick and enjoyable model (1/144 f-15 form revell) and now I will be starting on my helo this evening. I will hopfuly get to put some in progress pics up soon.

Cockpit is ready to be attached to the fuselage and the mesh has been glued into the intakes.
Will drill the holes in the fuselage for the stub wings tonight.

Trying to find a digital camera to borrow so I can post pics, please be patient.

Hey-
It's pretty quiet in here, is anyone building? I have been slowly working on my 1/48 HH-60H. In my search for some M240 guns, I found that Cutting Edge has a 1/48 metal M-60 set for the Blackhawk kits. I figured that an M-60 was pretty similar to an M240, so I bought a set. With a few modifications, mostly removing the tripod legs, I think it makes a passable M240. The set also includes the mounts, which look very similar to the HH-60H mounts.

Now that I have finished playing with the guns, it's time to get serious about painting the interior parts. My album is at:

Can anyone tell me the correct color for the seat cushions on a Vietnam era AH-1G Cobra, and also on a OH-6A? I know the rest, just have no clear color pics of the seat cusions. Oh, and the UH-1D/H Huey as well, and I am in need of the seat sides from Revell's old Huey kit from the 60's, the 1/32 one. The seat supports.

Ok, I finally got some modeling in today!
I've sprayed the interiors of my Apache, Kiowa, Little Bird, Blackhawk and A-10. All got a healthy coat of night-vision compatible flat black. The Kiowa is the first to get some serious work done. I've gotten the major components of the cockpit done and some details finished. I've gotta go get some transparent emerald green for the MFDs. Weapons arms have been built, and I've used a Cobra Company Vietnam-era 7-shot rocket pod that I've modified extensively to make it a correct M260 pod. It is currently carrying 3 High Explosive M151 rockets and four M255A1 Flechette rockets for the CounterInsurgency role The other pylon will have the AN-M3 .50 cal mounted. Additional armament will be two M-4 carbines strapped to the dashboard and extra magazines between the dash and the windscreen.

I'm goin away for a few days, which stinks, since I want to get this first bird built, but I'll have to wait a week.

Looks good to me. Not a lot of places to hide lead weights on that one, is there? Looking forward to seeing the finished kit.

Well, I'm back in NY. Seems like I was just here, but man is it good to be home.

KW project is going pretty well. I've gotten the basic interior done, although I haven't weathered anything yet.
I've also cut off the cowl and intakes and have test fit the new Cutting Edge cowl. Looks GOOD!

I'm headed to Fort Indiantown Gap tomorrow for 3 days of meetings, flight physicals and WWII reenacting. Gonna be a good time.
I've got my g/f's digital camera, so I'm gonna try to take as many pics of the flightline as possible. They pretty much have everything in the
Army inventory at EAATS, so I should be able to get some great shots of Hawks, Kiowas, Hooks and Apaches!

Hi all

Was sick last week so didn't get much done but should hopefully have all the "middle" bits installed in the next day or two so that I can glue the 2 halves together.

The good news is I'm borrowing a digital camera tomorrow so will take some pics tomorrow and post on Thursday.

ok i finally got some work done yesterday! (but didn't have time for taking pics) anyhow I heat-bended those rotor blades to produce natural sag, which (luckily) turned out great. and I assembled several subassemblies, like the weapons plank, the instrument console and the tail boom. man this project is easy! i would say i'm about 50% done already!
