I've built the Monogram and Hasegawa 1/48 Stukas, but I still have these ancient Airfix Stukas staring at me . . . I just read a favorable review of it online actually. I'll either build the Airfix 1/48 or I'll go out and get a Hasegawa. I'm intriged by the raised rivets on the Airfix though, I hear that's more accurate, and the geometry is similar to the Hasegawa, just doesn't look like much of a kit. Anyway, I'd like to join up and build a 1/48 JU-87B/R-2 (Airfix or Hasegawa - I'll decide before March 1)

OK, I'm going to build the Airfix as a JU-87B-2, and I'm going to try and make the Eduard set (for Hasegawa) fit it. I do need to clear a few things off of my bench before I start on it, but before April I should be in progress.

Must resist...I have a Fujimi kit with Eduard PE, True Detail wheels and Moskit exhaust but I've already I'm commited to too many GB's. Boohoo [BH]

A couple of questions about Squadron's vacuform canopies for Stukas - are they more accurate to scale? Are they real difficult to work with (I haven't messed with vacuform canopies since my balsa planes I built when I was young)?

BTW - ordered my PE today, about to clear one plane from the bench (this weekend?) and the Hetzer is close to a logical stopping point, I should be able to start my Stuka pretty much on time for the GB.

I've never participated in a "group build" before. I have a 1/48 Ju-87 B2 by Hasagawa collecting dust and demanding to be built. I think I'll give it a try.

Alright, I had to go out and dig around in my kit after my last post, and I had to do some work on the fuselage (plenty of it to do until my PE gets here). In three words the biggest problem is RAISED PANEL LINES. I also need to get some work done around the rudder area . . . Anyhow, I did do some work in the front of the fuselage - I didn't like how the exhaust is built in, so I removed it (I'll finish cleaning it up later) and I worked the panel lines and the flaps around the radiator area. I'll need to rebuild some of the exhaust surrounds, but . . . oh, well. Here's a before and after of my first hour's worth of work:

My main order of business last night was to build one side of track for my Hetzer, so I'm glad I got anything done on my Stuka at all!! I was deeply disappointed today to get a shipping notice from GreatModels webstore, I was expecting to get my stuff today from them (getting PE, exhaust, and Sqadron/Signal book). Also have another book coming from an Ebay auction.

Until I get my references, does anyone have a decent 1/35 drawing of a JU-87B-2 I could use to determine my panel lines?
