Yeah Tom thanks for all those pics, they were very interestingThumbs Up [tup] And as for VT-6 i just don't think i'll have the time to do the Avenger, the A/M kit requires a lot of time to build and i've overdone the whole GB thing "AGAIN" but if i can get a little help from "Kremps" i think i can finish it early next year but in the RNZAF markings for the upcoming ANZAC GBThumbs Up [tup]

Jules that would be great... I am thinking of trying my hand at the RNZAF SBD with the stomach holding a bottle of whiskey and a champagne glass on it... I have to figure out how to get the image over to decal paper though... I still have one spare SBD and it HAS been awhile since I built one!!!

I should be able to get a bit done on the Zero this weekend... Fri is mine, Sat the wife is going to Karate from 10 to 11 and Sun is our day out on the lake... I've been waiting to get the boat out for awhile! (ok I got it out last weekend but no one else was out so it got a bit dull... We usually go to a beach up on the river north of the lake we live on and there's usually a nice crowd there!)

I know what you mean Jules I have a couple of AM kits the TBF-1C Avenger and the dash 5 Dauntless and I'm a little wary of doing them in a GB because they have so much detail and take so long to do.

Tom what sort of boat do you have and how big is your lake?

With any sort of luck I might grab the Wildcat by the tail this weekend and give it a shake. As soon as the Aussie GB Buffalo is in its final stages (soon I hope) I will promote the Wildcat to No1 on the build pile.

Cheers

Darren: here is the website to the "boat" I have.. it is actually a jetski docking station... (ok yeah I am an IT person when I describe a boat as a docking station) Interesting enough, if you browse the three pics at the bottom of the page, the two women you see there actually come with the craft! (haha)

http://www.shuttlecraft.com/jetsport.htm

I live on Lake Houston, it is a man made lake (dammed) about 8 miles long and about 2 miles across at the widest point. I'll try to post some pics soon, I have a bunch...

OK Tom i get it, you dock the jetski in the station and the jetski powers it right, what a cool ideaThumbs Up [tup] My own personal preferance is dirt bikes, we have a huge pine plantation bordering a state forest which gives us miles of tracks to ride on, even caves if you ride out far enough.............

Darren yeah mate a lot of time is required on these A/M kits to bring out all the detail, i figured i could have the tamiya zero finished in the time it takes to do the Avengers C/Pit, I think the Anzac GB is going to be another long one and provided i don't have a heap of other kits on the bench i should be able to concentrate on it for a few months without worrying about other Gb's...........

Jules - fight the urge and stick with one or so at a time! I am finding my desire to model coming back more strong daily! It was becoming a chore almost to break out a kit...

and yeah... you just dock the jetski and secure it in and off you go! Even with the boat it does about 50mph (80 kph), without it the jet-ski alone does about 70mph (112 kph)

Plus those two women they threw iun make me a hit with the other boaters! Wink [;)]

Lots of forest around here and have been thinking about a 4wheel ATV but for now the boat is fine!! I leave the wife anchored in the lake and go have my fun on the juet ski and we are both happy!!!

Darren - I really reccomend an AM kit at least once... the cockpit takes awhile like Jules said but it's worth it!!!

Sounds like fun Tom and no broken bones, i've busted my arm 3 times on the dirt bike and dislocated a shoulder and thumb, maybe i should ride a little slower eh, when i dislocated my shoulder i was riding flat out on a skinny little track with pine trees either side of me and i rode straight through a cobweb with a huge frikkin spider in it, taking no notice of the trail because the spider was on my leg i rode into a bloody pine tree, dislocated shoulder clutch lever broken handle bars bent and mudgaurd snapped....all good fun........

Jules - that's why if I buy one it will be the four wheel version... me and pain aren't too fond of each other...

Tom no pain on a four wheeler eh, a guy i ride with Nat who rides a CR 250 had a head on with a 4 wheeler a couple of years ago and there was a little pain involved for both parties after that incident, the best fun we have is when the cops chase us, they have TT 500's and lurk around the area all the time, in a straight line they'd have us but in the bush we kinda have to wait for them to catch up..........

Jules - yeah my neighbor had a close call with the cops the other day... he was working on his engine, took it down the block to the woods at the end of the road... coming back he shot out of the woods and noticed a cop parked about 100 yrds down the road... needless to say I was shocked at the white flash (his bike) that flew past me in the back yard, he layed it down on its side and ran into the house...

OK-I had to go to the second page...this is not good.

Anyway, the SBD-2 is finished-at least for now. Might go back later and add the radio wire, some paint chipping and maybe re-paint the prop/stripes, but overall, I'm happy with the results.

Many thanks to the various members of this GB for all the kind words & assistance in various matters/questions.

Now to North Africia....

Looks like a champ Bob!!! You went the distance on this one. That;s not an easy kit to build and you came out with a winner! One thing which is so small, but I am very impressed with... is you got the correct camber on the landing gear the first time you built this one. It took me till my second (second try on my sendond SBD) till I got it right... and it still seems to nag me and I have to fiddle with it forever to get it right...

Congrats and look forward to your contribution to the NAGB!

Jules - I am building a 1:10 replica of the USS Wasp out of beer cans in me and my neighbors back yard (a sort of monument to Operation Calendar). I started laying the keel yesterday. Funny thing is I can only get through about a 12 pack at the most and have to call it quits for the day! Wink [;)]

Bob - I had planned on using the kegs for the sprop shafts... but the 1:1 thing doesn't sound bad, I'll present it at my next homeowners association meeting. It would take my neighbors on both sides.

Of course there is a nice clearing set in about 100 acres of trees at the back of my house. We could go out to the clearing. Wink [;)]

Bob fantastic looking build, congratulations Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

Jules XXX , I don't think so. My choice would be Crown Larger but that only comes in bottles so we'll have to stick with VB.

:::Progress Update:::
Yes believe it or not I've actually got the Wildcat out and made some progress, last night I sprayed the wheel bay and undercarriage in light grey. OK, it's not much but at least it's progress.

Cheers
